G Gauge Garden Railroad Youngs Junction 07/04/2022 Large Scale Trains In The Backyard

We took a slight break from our own garden railroad to go check out the action over at the garden railway known as Young's Junction! There were plenty of steam locomotives running this visit leaving the lone diesel a bit outnumbered but it held it's own sporting its red, white and blue for the fourth of July holiday. The locomotives in operation (All made by Aristo-Craft) included a CNJ pacific, three mikados (Rio Grande, Pennsylvania and New York Central) and a Delaware and Hudson U25b! As far as the variety of trains there was a mixed freight, reefer, stock cars and even a passenger trains so there should be something for most everyone to enjoy! With that said just sit back and enjoy the video as we sure enjoyed making it!

How do you keep the tracks from rusting?

While there is steel track in g scale it is not commonly used outside. Most outdoor layouts use brass, stainless or aluminum none of which will rust.

@@MrPictovid Do you have to put oil on the gears on the engines to keep them binding up from time to time. I had H-O trains and N scale I miss having them. It's a hobby you can put a lot of money into.

Gears I use white lithium grease on. The locomotives gearbox style kind of determines how often they need re-lubed. Light drop of oil on the axles for the bearings every now and then as well.
