Yeah, that was the old way to express "non-racism", but it was neither realistic nor helpful; it's not about not seeing; it's about seeing and appreciating and everything else you do with that! These are horrifying times; we all have to patiently correct people who "mean well" and not even bother with those who don't! Some of us older people are at least well-intentioned but it's the same as with other things; some people just have zero ability for empathy. Choose wisely

I am so very grateful for this woman's eloquence and her ability to share what she experienced as a child growing up. The internalized racism that many black people have towards themselves has left a very painful scar on the psyche of many of us still to this day. People still ask why Black women seem hard and cold, this is one of the reasons why, because we've always had to defend ourselves in a world that does not always value us or the beauty of our multicolored skin complexions.

I remember my first tooth I remember the first time I walked. And yes like you I have a genius IQ. I was born in 1960 they did all kind of things to me to find out why I was so smart. Being a young black girl I started school at 4 years old I remember at 3 years old when John f Kennedy was assassinated I was under my mother's ironing board and she started crying. The education of our people is heartbreaking... They don't know their potential they don't know their history. Just wanted to say it's a blessing to see someone that looks like me to understands all these things.. God bless you and keep you.. continued success always and all ways😁💖

You have to remember back then we did not know everything we know today about who we were and Africa and this was to all the lands we were scattered to. As you may know in Brazil they are or were lightning themselves thru blaquamento. Due to slavery we were made to be ashamed of anything dealing with Africa and being told we were ugly and that carried over for hundred of years. But now alot of us are waking up and instead of seeing ugliness we are seeing the beauty of being a descendant of Africa. There is still work to be done mentally, but better late then never. Africa has some of the most diverse, beautiful and exotic people in the world with some of the most beautiful black skin tones.

Amen sister. Your Mother told you the right thing. I had an experience like that when President Obama was elected. Doors slammed in the office and notes were on the door 🚪. Do not bother me. 😂😂😂

She's absolutely beautiful. I'd like to see those people who teased her now. That "friend" who made that statement was simply jealous of her success and likely always was. He couldn't be happy for her and like those type of people are only happy as long as you remain a step or two behind them. They come in all genders, races, and backgrounds. Good for her!
