Great! Most people just have hardtails, like me. I bought a marin nail trail 2014, that was an xc bike, i fitted a dropper, shorter stem wider bars and a 120 fork and now it shreds like crazy! You should do so too
looking forward to seeing the mods and ride review in a few months on this one....I'm looking at my first serious HT and appreciate your reviews on affordable gear!
@@trailtalkmtb6603 maybe a stem upgrade and dropper? New wider bars...I think you have it sorted really. The rest of the spec is really capable. I've been looking at 27.5 HTs I.e. Norco Fluid HT +, GT Pantera or Merida Big Trail ....all with 120/130mm travel up front, paired with 27.5 tyres will hopefully.make for a plush HT for some fun DH
Looking to get this bike as my first off-road bike for about 15 years, would love to hear a long term review and if it is worth upgrading in the future vs buying a more expensive bike! Love the videos so far, subscribed! Keep up the excellent work and look forward to your future videos.
Thats awesome you're getting back into mtb. As far a an XC hardtail goes its great! Good spec for the money and its very upgradable as it is boost and has through axles. Thanks for the support mate!
Interested to see what you do with the cockpit. The BigNine LTD caught my attention for the exact same reasons you've mentioned - and good prices at the moment too.
Awesome man. I'm really new to the sport currently riding a very entry level hardtail so it's gonna be fun seeing you build this up! Cheers from Brissie :)
Thanks! It's an awesome sport. It all starts with the humble hardtail then spirals out of control once you get the bug. If you have any ideas for the bike let us know.
Super nice of you to mention giving away the bike! Fortunately for me im in the usa so i dont think I'll have a chance to get it, which is fine since it'd be like getting a longer version of my current hardtail and i dont really vibe that anymore. Anyway, stoked to see the upgrades!
Enjoy your reviews of bikes that most people can afford. Interested to know your thoughts on how the hardtail copes on trails compared to full suspension bikes. You should try a short XC race for fun.
I'm glad you're enjoying the reviews! I'm keen to try a couple of xc races out to test my fitness. Theres a few team marathon races around too, which would be fun.
Its definitely hard work compared to the dual suspension. Have to pick your lines way more carefully. I think with the dropper and better tyres that should improve a fair bit
Hey Buddy, stumbled across yr channel this week researching the Merida One Twenty. I've been mountain biking for over 20 years and spent a fortune on bikes, usually 6k for my main bike. I've found with the speed of change in tech and geo etc there's little point in spending big dollars! I appreciate your channel and reviews as a lot of channels only look at expensive carbon bikes. Riding is about fun, I think you can have just as much fun on a 3-4k bike as u can on a 6-7k bike. I know the Norco FS1 is considered a great entry level bike, but for the $ looks great and with a few tweaks here and there.. Also the Merida 120 sounds impressive.. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the hard tail Merida, hardtails are more pure and simple, especially single speed 😉 I love a good hard tail... Enjoy yr channel, keep up the good work. Its appreciated 👍👌🇦🇺
Thank you so much! Bike have indeed come a long way, its crazy how capable bikes are these days. I definitely feel that 3-4k is the golden zone. Get most of the bells and whistles without the adjustability of higher end models. The FS1 is a great bike loves the speed, jumps and drops, where as the 120 is a bit more versatile. Really appreciate the support.
Thank you so much Luke. Only been in the game a few months and so stoked to have almost 300 subscribers. The video quality will only get better from here!

I will pretty much be doing exactly that! The nail trail is an awesome bike

Thanks for watching! The plan is to have a 300-400 budget. What upgrades would you do? Which hardtails are you looking at?

Sounds like a plan. Theyre all great bikes and will be good for the downhills

Looking forward to seeing more on this bike and perhaps a comparison with other brands such as TREK Roscoe
