Nice review. I bought the foundation and concealer last week but haven tried yet because my skin is peeling right now from exposure to wind and snow (per-taste of the Canadian winter). Your video gives me hope that both products will work for me. I look forward to the result of the Lauder vs Shiseido showdown.
I have always had a love-hate relationship with setting concealer. So I have come to a compromise. 1. Let the concealer set for at least 5 mins give or take before, setting. The emollients and water in the concealer will evaporate and you're left with just the pigments and residual oils in the product, so you will need less powder if any. 2. Then I will lightly set with a pointed fluffy setting brush but will use a compact powder, not loose, because it's less drying due to less product on your brush. I like the Charlotte Tilbury for its light, non drying, smoothing texture. I just roll my brush onto the powder, knock off all the powder, then roll on. Sometimes on the 2nd day, I won't even add more powder to the brush, i just use the residual amount on the brush from the day before.

I bought the j* concealer and powder under your advice and I love them!!! The only thing is the concealer run really light ... But I know now! LOL! I did not try the shiseido one but I really want to try it with the foundation 😊

I'm, personally, not prepared to spend money on a product that may not work for me, bearing in mind, I have plenty that do already. Trying this today. I'm back from a visit to Tokyo, where I picked up this one plus the radiant loose powder. The Colorgel Balm lipsticks are all kinds of chef's kiss for my dry-as-anything lips, FYI!
@@CharlotteHoldcroft I was surprised by how much drier a formula it is than say, the Nars Creamy Concealer. Used it sparingly and gave it a good pouncing-over with a damp beauty blender. Didn't set it under my eyes, but did lightly around my nose/mouth (that radiant loose powder is lovely). Looked great and didn't crease on me, where others generally do!
It looks like it would be perfect for me but I’ve got several concealers on the go at the moment. I’ve found they work best if I apply colour corrector first because I have very intense blue circles (and have done since I was a child). Also been brave enough not to use setting powder recently and it does look much better. If I get creasing, I just pat it back into place with my ring finger. xxx
I'm interested in how you feel about this. I got the foundation in the wrong shade, but I liked the foundation. The concealer made my undereyes looked very dry with it. Products are always different with different people so I'm curious how you felt.
I've just ordered these from John Lewis as they're reduced in black Friday. I had a tester of the foundation and it looks incredible. hoping the concealer will be similarly magical 🙂 I'm still not sure why it's self refreshing tho? 🤷♀️

My grumble with a lot of concealers is getting the right colour match to my foundation. As you said, online sometimes the foundation and concealer colours show no resemblance to each other whatsoever, even if both have the same number/name. Infuriating or what 😡! 💚
Unfortunately the foundation looks horrible on me. Both drying and ageing and setting in my fine lines and wrinkles 😪. What kind of priming/skincare do you do before using it?

Hi Charlotte. As I have ageing skin I struggle with concealers which don’t highlight my fine lines.... especially in the under eye area.... I’m afraid, very afraid lol... so this product sounds good.... however, I really struggle morally with the whole cruelty free thing. I understand that this brand is tested on animals.... is that right? How do you feel about that? Oh.... and your eye look looks awesome!!! ND I presume? Pomyprincess x
Hi lovely, the struggle is definitely real with that!! Shiseido is not currently cruelty free. According to Ethical elephant, while they do not themselves perform animal testing, they do sell in China. Hope that helps x

Hi there! Yes, any brand sold in China cannot be deemed cruelty free even if they do not test on animals themselves because of China's legal requirement to test product sold there. It seemed a lot of progress was being made this year on that but I haven't heard anything recently which is frustrating x
