I’ve always wanted a channel like this! I subbed!
This. Is. Perfect. MAKE MORE!!!!!!
edit: Buses i mean
I loved buses since I was in pre-k3 cause one time we had a field trip and we got these kind of buses and I loved buses ever since I was a little kid
The gauges are sweet very retro like a mini cooper
Nice I really enjoyed watching this video
The MCI motor coach has so much curve appeal especially with the spiral staircase people love that. But it seems like they're built with so much plastic is what you're here rattling around.
@Kenneth Brown You have some of the most *horrible* grammar that I have ever seen, LOL!
Did you grow up and were home-schooled in a *barn?* I'll bet the *other* farm animals were more articulate than you, ha ha!
Awesome dashboard
Stay tuned for a future video where I drive a 2020 model! Now that one has a dash you'd like.
Great video! I've driven an older MCI myself... Now if y'all could do videos on alley docking and parallel parking and mmmmmmmmmaybe offset parking (both left and right) that would be awesome
I worked as a bus driver for 4 years... the boredom i had was crazy... but there are people who enjoy it big time. Peace
The Js without a doubt are my favorite coaches!
That looks like an absolute beast to drive. Will there be more of these types of video?
It's a lot of fun, for sure! Check out my channel for more similar content. I try to upload at least twice a month, so there will be more!
Nice video Mate
Hi, Incredible Video Sends a Hello to Brazil!
I loved the videos, I just wrote to your channel congratulations daki do Brasil.
I put in over 3 1/2 million miles.. like the dash and the driver appears more than competent.. 👌
I've been a school bus driver for almost a decade now I'm finally transitioning to charter bus driving, specifically the MCI.. Excited to start a new journey!!
This is definitely different than my prevost
Very Nice
Been waiting for a channel like this! I snubbed overall.
IT HAS THE BLUE BIRD TURN SIGNAL SOUND
Bluebird vision school bus turn signal lol 😂
@RMS Britannic Not really. That steering wheel is universal. Prevost use the same steering wheel, Same for freightliner, International and lots of manufacturers.
@@TellurideS13 freightliner and Thomas are basically the same brand but split. Same with IC and International. Still don’t know why bluebird uses the same turn signals as MCI
@@charlesrodriguez7984their dashboards are both made by Actia. Until BB switched to Ametek
and been waiting for how the ride works in this bus attempt in general
I recognized this hand!
Was looking for more Jake brake action but good video 👍
Haha the jakes on these buses are SILENT, but I understand! Thanks for the like
Are you out of Canada? That's where the MCI motor coach bus is built. Most likely that code you are driving is being pushed by a series 60 turbo diesel with 450 horsepower connected to a Allison b500 transmission. Which is standard in a j45 or a e45 the Cummins motor is an option and they no longer use caterpillar motors. If that is a j model then you have the floating rear steer. And if it's a E coach then you have the hydraulic rear steer.
I am in the state of Maryland, US. This bus has the DD13 with the Allison B500. The other option for this year model for the US market was a Cummins X12, I think. And yes, this bus was built in MCI's Canadian facility in Manitoba.
Perfect ❤️❤️
👍
That white placard is a violation. It blocks your entire view. You have an accident, it is on you because of it.
Gauge is white like 2000s International IC RE and turn signal sound like new BlueBird Vision
Do you guys have any vanhool coaches and this is a very great video you half to do more
We do not have any VanHools, unfortunately. We do have Setras, which will be another video one day. Thanks for the support!
Is the same steering wheel of the International semi
ay i at sometime sleeped and dreamed driving a bus and the bus i drived was like this!
How is the acceleration onto the highway? Taller axle ratios in newer buses make it harder to merge or pass, and so we kept older but ultra-reliable Prevost motorcoaches (17+ years old with 1.3 million miles, Detroit Diesel S60 12.7 liter engines and 6-speed Allison) to make merges easier for our transit drivers.
Not great. The engine is adequate, but not the transmission programming, which is a shame because it's an Allison B500. The gearbox upshifts too early to be effective at highway acceleration. Even the high performance mode is insufficient for passing and merging. I can be cruising at 60mph (100kph) in 6th grade and then floor it, only to do nothing. The gears are a little too tall too. Our Setras, however: perfect.
idk what i wanna do go to the nfl be a coach bus driver be a school bus driver im a early age i have time
Carbon trim +5 HP
:)
Say something, where are we ? Going, ect?
I live next to DesPlaines and am wanting to transport. Could you contact me??
Hardly any rattle.
What does both the green and yellow light on the dash represent?
If you're referring to the lights on the left side of the speedo, the green light is "Brake Lights", indicating that the brake lights are illuminated. The yellow light is the "Aux brake" light, which indicates that the engine brake (retarder) is active.
Hey, doesn’t this turning signal sound familiar?
I knew that, I was a little confused on how the bluebird turn signals ended up in this bus.
I think a lot of bus and truck manufacturers use parts from the same suppliers. I heard that the steering wheels used in MCI buses are also used in Blue Birds.
Never cared much for the J series. Thought they were cool looking when first introduced, with the curved stairs, but that dash was always too tall, and too much cheap plastic.
You can’t beat the reliability of the J4500. They’re huge buses but feel like cars when you drive them.
I have to disagree with the reliability of them. Greyhound has been switching to Prevost, the entire entertainment industry has steered clear of them. I've only seen two on shows I've done, both were garbage.
I think MCI is average, at best. They look nice, sound nice, and drive all right, but the '13-'17 models are a little harsh over bumps, have lots of cheap plastics that don't hold up over time, and are averagely reliable. At least our '17s are lol.
@@PhotoLabMP agreed. I actually feel MUCH more confident with these than I ever did with a 40' Cincinnati Metro transit coach
may i know what camera are you using? and where is it mounted? Thanks so much!
A lot of rattling in that MCI coach, Vanhool motor coaches handle and drive much better than mci
I think that is my biggest gripe with MCI. Our '17 models feel a little... unpolished?
My company has an assortment of mci and van hool. I prefer the mci. Easier to work on and I think they handle better van hool. Only van hool has sharper turning radius which makes it easier in cities.
@@lonnietuttle3359 well that's nice I value your opinion which is great. But after owning a couple of e coaches since 98 to 2004 and on the road for over 30 years. It just seems when I switched over to van hools I had way less breakdowns. But keep making those videos it's just my opinion and enjoy the road like I did.
@@kennethbrown8517 nothing but respect for your opinions. Regardless of opinions we all have bitten by the bus bug. It will always be in our blood lol. BTW im not a driver im a mechanic but I love to test drive and deliver them haha. Preferably with no passengers
@@lonnietuttle3359 that is so cool I hope all is well just stay safe out there.
Nice video it looks difficult to drive a bus
BELLO L'AUTOBUS
Built on an International chassis with a DD13.....interesting.
You don’t have floor pedals for the signals? Here at nj transit we have them for the horn and both turn signals to limit our hands off the wheel.
Oh you drive for NJ Transit? Awesome, I ride NJ Transit when I visit my family a few times a year! I've never driven an MCI D series, but the J series have stalks for signals, low/high beam, and wiper controls.
I've never driven a coach style bus with floor signals, MCI, Prevost or Vanhool. It may be a NJ Transit, or transit style modification. Typically floor switches are for transit style operations (not Greyhound or charter) due to repetitive stopping
Hmm. Typically transit coaches have the brights and turn signals on the floor. I've only driven an older MCI and I'm already liking how the turn signal is mounted, like it's a car
Can you drive a UM 29 foot Gillig for a video?
I might already have recorded some 29' footage, but haven't decided on making a video, but stay tuned!
Sir.....

MCI cup holders suck. D Model and J Model both have trash cup holders. Imagine trying to have a cup of coffee and a bottle of water at the same time.
Agreed. MCI listened when they refreshed the J for 2018 with a slightly larger cup holder. That 20oz bottle in the video actually fits in the current J buses lol

I'm surprised it isn't smoother over the pavement breaks. Are the straight axle buses smoother than the IFS buses ?
IFS is smoother, I think. The MCI's seem to be louder over pavement breaks in general, but they are also don't seem to be as well sound-proofed and insulated as our Setras. That being said, they ride relatively smoothly. I am not sure that we have any straight axle buses in our fleet, but I may be wrong.

Hola
I am bus driver too. I only imagine how i enjoy this ride on roads like this. No potholes no bumpers. Absolutely perfect. I love it. Many greetings from Slovakia 🇸🇰 and many many miles without accident.
It sure is nice on a smooth road! Thank you for the greetings!
