All good. I love your reviews and I totally agree with your takes on Dead Rising 3 and 4. Just something I thought that I'd mention is that you said Capcom Vancouver made a mistake with the names of the orphans in this version and I wanted to point out that Capcom Vancouver was closed in 2018 by Capcom. Deluxe Remaster was mostly made by a Taiwanese studio called "Neo Bards" while Capcom helped them here and there.
Yea he did. But it's not canon anymore because the original game it was only half-implemented (aka the animations were done but it never made it into the actual story)
I think the change to Larry and Cliff really makes them a lot less memorable. Cliff is a war veteran from a real war and nothing of what he said in the original should be offensive. Just changed because… I have no clue. “You’re a mole” also just sucks. Larry is a Chinese immigrant and it’s supposed to be an ironic sting to Carlito. Carlito is all about Americans and their meat but gets attacked by a Chinese immigrant butcher. While the American butcher attacking Carlito makes sense and proves Carlito right, I don’t think we should be trying to prove Carlito right especially in that scene.
1:12:35 I don't think the choice is really that hard. OG Dead Rising every time, if I'm in the mood to play the game, I'm gonna play the one that actually retains the spirit of Dead Rising. As much as it's overplayed, the remaster is soulless, it's suffered a death by a thousand cuts, with things like the altered voice cast, censorship, generic "sleek" ui update, etc. These things aren't game ruining on their own but when combined it makes this version unappealing for replays. Capcom should've went farther in changing the game or preserving it. As is, the deluxe remaster just feels like a half measure that doesn't stand as a preferred version for newcomers or veterans.
Also I'll never forget the time I was playing Dead Rising and the WORST picture of Cheryl showed up on the loading screen as soon as I was about to quit with my brother watching "I SWEAR THE GAME MADE ME TAKE THOSE PICTURES" to this day I have no idea if its required to actually take a picture to complete Cheryl's mission
Sorry for the wall of text, but I really wanted to try and explain my perspective and have a genuine conversation about something I feel fairly passionate about as a creative myself. TL;DR: Art is perspective based and I think changing it based on another person's perspective does a disservice to the artist and those who consume it, as well as paving the way for more extreme changes to occur latter, so it's an over-all net-negative. I understand where you're coming from with the changes they made. "Who cares if Larry is now a different character? He was bad anyway." ... But that's not really the point, is it? While I do agree that outtake is better mechanically, we also need to look at games as artistic pieces, as story and art play a heavy role in what makes games so appealing. This means that every choice artistically speaking, rather than purely functional, is part of someone's artistic vision for the game. A fair question to ask is: 'who gets to decide if something is bad or not?'.. Society's morality alignment is ever slightly shifting. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but that is something to keep in mind.. Something you find innocuous might be found incredibly offensive at some point in the future.. Is it then ok for them to censor that thing you found innocuous because they found it offensive? If so, where do we stop? Perspective is unique to the individual, after all.. This is an important conversation, because it reflects an over-all mind-set that is currently evolving into what many people believe is too extreme.. Especially for art. Art is supposed to be one person's interpretation of the world around them, and how they express their unique perspective of the world and how they feel about it.. Art isn't meant to be about _your_ perspective, it's about seeing someone else's, even the not so pretty stuff. So while the changes Capcom made aren't _really_ a big deal, it's the over-all principle that's being debated here.. It's kind of hard to argue that some changes are good and others are bad when it's all perspective based, rather than fact based. (ie: what color looks good vs what does 2+2 equal.) You could argue turquoise looks better than blue, or green better than crimson, but there's no arguing that 2+2=4.. My point being, you won't just get the changes you want, you will also get changes like Kent's change, because the person who decided to make that change has a different perspective to yours.. Someone found it upsetting and removed it, despite him being a bad guy and him being a scumbag makes it a reasonable thing to keep in... and in cases such as this, the end product ultimately suffers for it, while the changes they make don't generally improve the game and elicit a "who cares?" response at _best._ Again, is removing and replacing a genre of photo's from a game about killing zombies in a mall that big of a deal? No. Not at all. Is it a good functional change? Yeah, I'd say so. Does that give someone the right to do it from an artistic perspective? It's hard to say.. but I'd say it doesn't.
Does my mans still not know that the Mannequin Torso is is the 2nd best weapon in the game for single target damage? Theres also always two each way between your path to the Security Room
1:01:03 more on your point for experimenting with the photo system. I wish they would randomize Kent’s request for the photo challenge on every run so that it encourages you to try and get high PP photos for ever genre. Would have been a nice change of pace and make the challenge more dynamic.
I wish there was a Remaster and Rebirth mode. Remaster being Dead Rising 1 just with the new graphics. Rebirth being, well, this new version. I'm thinking that if this franchise returns that not only will they retcon Dead Rising 4, but they will do the same for Dead Rising 3. That might be why they didn't put Nick and Diego in the database. 3's story was downright awful and I hate the game equally with Dead Rising 4 for different reasons. The franchise peaked with Off the Record and then nose dived badly. I'd hope that they next would make a Dead Rising 2 Deluxe Remaster and for the love of Pete please make Case West and Case Zero come to Playstation and PC finally. Then rework Dead Rising 3 to be actually good and end the Trilogy and the story arcs of Isabella, Chuck, and Frank, properly
My thoughts: - Tank North sounds and looks like Jet Fusion from Jimmy Neutron. - Jessica has the best remodel and new voice (Carlito's is fine too). - Isabela's accent sounds Dominican or Venezuelan rather than Central American. - The erotica genre could have stayed in the game. The devs should have made the female NPCs either cover themselves or pose for pictures. Also, add pictures of male NPCs to the genre to kill sexism (voyeurism knows no gender). - NPCs who recently went through a traumatic event should not merrily point out photo ops for Tank. That kills immersion in two different ways. They should still be distraught and want to get to safety!

I'm just hoping DRDR did well enough for Capcom to make a DR2DR or maybe even a future sequel. Edit: Comment has been up for 20 minutes and I already got depressing replies bro. If it helps. Dead Rising is the 6th best selling DR series right now. Only behind heavy hitters like MH, RE and DMC. DRDR sold roughly half a million copy's BEFORE the upcoming physical release. And on top of that the original DR got a huge sales boost from DRDR. The series is only dead if you keep saying it is. Show some positivity for the game and it's developers and it'll create more hype and positivity in general. Y'know. If you want the series to remain alive that is.
@@Vadim_Slastihin I despise the constant slop remakes (remasters are whatever and can be useful to port it to modern os/consoles in some cases). I have zero idea how any of this is just accepted by people. Could you imagine if every new building or painting technique we just went "nah bro replace the mona lisa or hagia sophia with the new version bro". Not saying games or movies are on those levels of art but instead of advancing and making our own eras of artistic expression and media we have 1000000000 pigslop remakes. We are headed for a new darkages of stagnation.
It'd be pretty dope ( though i doubt it ) if they packaged in Case West and Case Zero as extras. But yeah I'd really like a 2 deluxe remaster since the current steam releases are kinda jank as hell.
I hate that half the comments is just larry discourse, it feels like so much discussion around this game is more about the small changes they made to be more inclusive and to be very blunt much less sexist and racist. This is the best video at breaking down the actual mechanical differences between both games that's actually helpful you did a great job at that.
I really hate current discussions on games right now, everytime a game does something "woke" the discussion pivots to only being about the game having "woke" elements to it and whether its bad or good. I don't mean I just hate that it gets brought up, I hate the fact its the ONLY thing to get brought cause its the most vocal, that happened with Spider-Man 2 and I was bummed out the discussion for the game was about one optional side mission and not the entire game. Needless to say I was worried about the same thing about Dead Rising but luckily most people Ive seen when they bring up these issues give nuanced takes regarding how it benefits or harms the intentions these thing had on the game, Im glad this video did the same just like most other videos and brought up something unique like Kents photo challenge being a lot more fun than the original. Overall Im just glad to see people talking about the game in an engaging way, kudos
Woke, not woke. Don't care. What I can't wrap my head around is why extreme violence is absolutely ok but erotic is depicted as the devil. It's a game for adults. I've seen a clown fall belly first into two chainsaws in this video here and I bet it's monetized. But if he had shown a nipple the channel would get deleted. It feels like we as society took a wrong turn somewhere. Is the erotica category seen as sexist nowadays? That's the same kinda sexist like showing buffed men shirtless in movies being accepted but women can't be shown in the same light? Only when they walk the red carpet, then it's empowering. I don't understand this anymore. What I'm trying to say is that I find cutting people into pieces is worse than getting points for taking a picture of a woman's clothed cleavage. Guess I'm alone with that opinion idk
I always thought the erotica stuff was pretty funny. Besides, Frank is supposed to be kind of a tabloid sleazebag. None of this really matters because DR is a grind housy horror comedy. Not really a genre that should ever cower before an imaginary modern audience, or in case of the war veteran, the Chinese Communist Party(?) Capcom are a bunch of cowards.
So I just watched the Crowbcat video about everything censored and there is absolutely no way anyone should defend this. Watch it and you know why people are upset
You know I was just thinking "Hey GhenryPerez's video on DRR was good can't wait for Dorkaxe's" Plus i had a small wish you'd do a proper retake on the original DR video you did a few years ago. Then I wake up to this!
Never got into DR just found it incredibly boring and repetitive - so is a remaster of an 18 year old game really going to impress gamers (Sigh) no chance

Slaps that censorship flex tape on.
Well the franchise is in the toilet so the first 2 games are their best bet.
I'm just hoping that this lame remake trend will die out and developers will start to make new games instead of parasitize on the things we love.
I hope not, play the og dont support censored outsourced garbage.
My only take is that i think erotica would have been maybe okay to keep if men could also add to it. But, like it's just boring either way.
@@saschaberger3212 yeah you really need to go outside and try to get laid, buddy.
Nah that side mission was cringe and put in for activism
I always thought the erotica stuff was pretty funny. Besides, Frank is supposed to be kind of a tabloid sleazebag.
None of this really matters because DR is a grind housy horror comedy. Not really a genre that should ever cower before an imaginary modern audience, or in case of the war veteran, the Chinese Communist Party(?)
Capcom are a bunch of cowards.
So I just watched the Crowbcat video about everything censored and there is absolutely no way anyone should defend this. Watch it and you know why people are upset
Woohoo, thanks
In the original, orphan number 11 called Lisa Jackson, Maybe Nick is just a transgender?
Great review Dork. My only complaint is that your pun, frankly wasn’t clever.
finally our king returns 🗣️🗣️
p.s I WAKE UP IN THE MORNIN WIT A FAT CUP OF PISS
You’re a very punny guy 😂❤
Bout time bra
You know I was just thinking "Hey GhenryPerez's video on DRR was good can't wait for Dorkaxe's" Plus i had a small wish you'd do a proper retake on the original DR video you did a few years ago. Then I wake up to this!
Comment for engagement
Never got into DR just found it incredibly boring and repetitive - so is a remaster of an 18 year old game really going to impress gamers
(Sigh) no chance
Wow. Talk about hand-holding lol
Chatting

Second
New Brad is terrible and the voice sounds too young and inexperienced for his design (age and maturity).
