Making Animated AI Character Shorts

- Want to create animated characters for social media videos? This tutorial walks through a process I recently took doing a 2-minute animation / live action hybrid piece. We'll start with creating character artwork with AI using Adobe Firefly, getting them ready for animation in Adobe Photoshop, recording their voices in Adobe Audition, rigging and animating in Adobe Character Animator, editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, and finally compositing in Adobe After Effects.

Dude!! This is the awesomest project. Great job 🎉
Long time no see Samurai... hope you are good
This is just great. Thank you as always!
This work flow was so helpful. I know most of the individual steps you show but I never would have tried this type of project because I didn’t know how to get there. I appreciate the time you took to share it out with us.
So good Dave! I watched every frame and we will be studying this at the church house. 👏👏👏
Your work, effort and sharing is extremely appreciated! thanks for the amazing job and knowledge shared, sensei!
hello @okaysamurai thank you for all the lesson and the help u give us, i do face problem and i keep don't know why it happen to me everytime, whenever i a dd a walk behavior when the character have left and right and frental side his body is always splited; legs and arm , i am sure thar rigging is correct and everything is correct but at the same time something must be missing, why that happen? hope you answer me i asked in many groups non of them answer me 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hard to diagnose here, but my best guess is that a trigger or another behavior may be conflicting with Walk and causing issues. If the problem persists, please upload a video or screenshot of your issue to adobe.com/go/chfeedback and we'll try to help you out.
Hey man, love your content. I wondered how I can reach out to you for a business collaboration?
My fulltime job as a designer at Adobe prevents me from taking on collaborations, but we do have a great group of people who do freelance Character Animator work listed up on adobe.com/go/ch_examples_thirdparty_en. Hopefully you can find someone with a skillset / style there that fits your needs!
i open a bunch of character form the starter screen, i cant find the puppet controls to turn the head or do you have to use the camera to animate ??
It depends on the puppet - not all have head turns. The unicorn character from the homepage is probably the easiest one to see how it works.
@@okaysamurai yes it is awesome i creating my own custom rig now thanks !!!
Another great tutorial. Your script is funny and witty. All the questions I've "asked" chatGPT have yielded the most banal first-year college student answers, sometimes technically correct and always boring.
Great video again. Is it possible to use character animator to animate the backview of the character like the character is running in front of us with his back towards the camera?
There's not a direct way to do it, similar to front walking, so you would either have to do cycle layers like ua-cam.com/video/gv_2Upvtm-M/v-deo.htmlsi=m9rQFnxGQy1Ny0zX&t=282 or use motion library like ua-cam.com/video/ZTevkEadskk/v-deo.htmlsi=Tbn3-vIs19hk6HDY&t=580.
@@okaysamurai Thank you for your reply! Learnt alot from your tutorials.
Dave thank you very much for providing us with this important information step by step. Your tutorial videos are really valuable.
Great tutorial!
I'd do one thing differently though. When you mask the devil so it appears behind Cameron's nose. If you decide to make the devil bigger or smaller afterwards, you will have to reposition the mask for every frame. It's better to duplicate the video layer, bring it on top of all the other layers and draw a mask around the nose of Cameron. That way, if you change the size of the devil, the mask of the nose will stay in the right place. On every frame.
Yep solid point!
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial!👍🏼
amazing. thank you!!
Is it possible to do Anime style cartoons using Adobe CA and AE? A full tutorial will be much appreciated! love from South Africa
If you check out some of our past Community Spotlight episodes there are some anime character examples, and we have several free anime characters available. For traditional anime you would probably want something more frame by frame, like Animate.
@@okaysamurai Thank you, I'll check it out
Great job Dave 💪🏿🫡
Hi Dave , nice job.
Love it thank you
I do this on my channel but I use MidJourney for the images and I usually animate in AI also. I have mascots that I animate in Character Animator every episode. Looking forward to SORA being in Premiere. If that really happens, I will switch to Premiere to edit instead of what I'm using now.
Yep, lots of good stuff on the way for Premiere...stay tuned!
this is awesome
COOL!!!
amazing
Can we make different hand pose by Ai?
You could definitely try! I have found that making a set of hands and mouths in the same style has proven tricky, but with some work I think it's possible.
@@okaysamurai Do you hear of any AI integrations coming down the pike for Character Animator? It seems like a rigged character could really come to life THAT much easier with AI-processed camera-tracking (lighting changes, affected textures, transferred facial animation that could also be translated in different languages). It would allow so many new creators to get into this space by decreasing the hurdles involved. I've made several successful puppets (with Ch), but that could really take things to the next level. Character animation would explode!
