Looking for the items you described above in the link below??
Where are the links to the types of water hookup and electrical surge protection? Thx
Good reminder for people. You didn't mention an inline water filter for potable water.
Regarding leaving your Grey tank open, If you do this, PLEASE put a trap in the hose, a loop that grey water can sit in the hose to block sewer gas from flowing from the sewer system, into your tank and out your roof vent giving everyone down wind the full freshness of the campgrounds septic system. This is especially noticeable on those stagnant damp days, and more so when people near you are dumping their tanks, or on Sunday morning when a lot of campers are dumping throughout the mark getting ready to leave.
What is a trap for the hose? Do you have a link for one that I can see?
Robin it’s just a dip in line we’re water stops airflow
Same concept as the trap in your sink in a sticks and bricks. Correct?
@@edrumsas5420 yes exactly
Kitchen sink waste will congeal as well. For this reason, I would recommend keeping the grey tank closed.
To add to safe dumping, I would recommend slowly opening your valves to make sure there are no leaks or your hose doesn’t jump out of the connector. That way You can quickly close the valve, fix the problem and continue on with your chore.
Great tip, thanks for sharing
I always let out a little of the grey water through the hose just to make sure the connections are good before I pull the black. That way worst case it's just dish/shower water dripping everywhere.
@@briancurtis8418 I learned this one the hard way and now I do it the way you describe.
Yes ! You can water hammer the dump hose. It will give you a rush when the 90-degree connector lifts from the sewer connector. So do open s l o w e y.
a 90 degree/elbow quick connect attachment works great to hook our little in-line filter to the city water connection to the RV. The flexible hose it comes with doesn't flex quite enough so it sort of dangles off to the side and flops around in the wind. The 90 holds it down next to the RV and makes it super easy to hook up.
Good tip, thanks for sharing
I agree about the quick connect hose connectors. It makes life SO much easier (and faster), and you don't risk cross threading your connections. Never buy the plastic connectors however. They break when over tightened, which is easy to do.
As RV'ers getting back into the game (had a Nomad Weekender 1991-2005) we have found SO much has changed. Have a 2022 Rockwood Ultra Lite and info like this is extremely helpful for newbies and not so newbies. Thanks for doing this. Happy trails!! ❤️
Thanks, safe travels to you also!
Great info. Great info. Only suggested is to wear shoes, not flip flops.. Wear shoes that can be cleaned or tossed out. Ask me how I know…lol
😂
As always, thank you both for giving us great tips and information for us “soon to be newbies”. Their truly is no excuse for us to make unnecessary mistakes”. Plus the items you mention seem so useful.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Best wishes!
Hi. Love your videos. I keep a garden knee cushion for my knees when I am doing my hook ups. I also keep a yoga mat just Incase I have to work on something under our rig. No more hunting for loose parts or screws in the grass and much easier if in a gravel site. Happy travels.
Great ideas thanks for sharing
Spot on video, but I would add a step to the power hookup. Turn on the circuit breaker and check the surge suppressor for good readings BEFORE connecting the RV power cable. And, make no power connections with the circuit breaker on.
👍🏻
Thumbnail was sooo good and the content was even better guys!! Great video on such important info... plus those quick connects are RAD!!
Thanks so much
Happy Mother’s Day! 😊
Thank you!
Thanks for the video, I have been looking for this kind of "non-essential" but "life Changing" RV equipment.
👍🏻👍🏻
Love you guys! Thank you so much for all your informative videos!!!😎👍🏻❤
I have everything you've shown plus a few more. Great vid for newbies
👍🏻
Thanks for the great tips! They will definitely come in handy!
You’re welcome, thanks for watching
Very informative thank you guys. Happy travels 🙏🏻😂
Happy travels to you also 💙
Loved this video!
As always, great information. thumbs up
Thank you 😊
Thank you for the tips
Thanks for watching
Good video and some great comments too!
Thanks for watching
Never had to use donut at any campground, but we have a clear elbow with tapered multi thread sewer connections. I like the idea of the splitter with the quick connects. I use quick connects for my fresh water fill and black tank flushing. I use them for my water filter I connect to city water. I have a splitter and think additional quick connects would be super!
👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the great tips.
Thanks for watching
We always had an RV Extension cord. You never know when the electric hook up is further away than the length of the electric cord of the RV.
Good idea
Thanks. Learned this one the hard way - through experience. 😩
Great video!!!
Thanks!
Liked & Subscribed. I ordered the ladder for sewer hose
Awesome!
hello, i was wondering what you use to inflate your canoes, is it cordless or do you need to plug it in. thank you for your help
Thanks for sharing these must haves! We are checking into buying our first RV and I didn’t realize we’d need to buy extra stuff to be able to use it safely! Can you make a dedicated RVing for dummies! 🥰
Thanks for watching and for the request
So far we have had good luck with a brass water restrictor. DO stay away from the plastic ones. For loss of pressure make sure the faucet is all the way on. Also, you may want to swap out the water filter.
Show how things look at the sewer hookup, with the donut and weight thingy
You may run into a park (especially older ones) that only have 110/120V 15A or 20A (no 30A or 50A) so you should have a GFCI extension cord. These are usually 12" to 18" long and have the GFCI in the middle. Ours is bright yellow and has a light on it so you can see it and the status in the dark, costs about $35.00. Also, a good receptacle tester to check for 'open ground' or 'open neutral' etcetera. Klein Tools makes one for $10.00.
Also a hose you use ONLY for your black tank rinser (if you have a built-in one) and cleaning your sewer hose.
Great tips, thanks for sharing
I just started the rv lifestyle 2 weeks ago. Biggest thing that I have learned with my small set up. Is line up the sewer hookup with the trailer 1st. I have an 18' travel trailer so many full hookup sites have extra room for me. If I am too far back or too far forward from the sewer connection my hose won't reach. Even if I get longer sewer hoses they still tend to be shorter than my electric or water lines. Took me 3 campsites to get this down.
We are always learning! Thanks for watching and sharing
Hey y’all
Clear waste valve cap..prevents spills..
The generic “non” adjustable, water pressure regulators are completely fine. If you find your not getting good pressure, means the campground pressure isn’t great. You can remove the pressure regulator because the the campground pressure isn’t enough to harm your pipes.
My boyfriend and I will start RV'ing next month (just purchased our very first 5th wheel) as I am a travel nurse. Before I purchase the surge protector you recommend will it work for our 5th wheel that is 50amp? By the way.... I love all the videos and have learned TONS from watching you all especially since this is new for us! Thanks
yep - our RV is a 50 amp and the surge protector we use (and recommend) from Progressive industries comes in both a 30 and 50 amp.
Do you put a lock on your surge protector? I've heard people talk of them getting stolen. We haven't locked ours yet but wonder if we should.
No, we have never had an issue with it getting stolen.
Great video, as usual!! One question…In what order do you suggest hooking everything up? Or does it matter? Can’t wait to get the t-shirt! They look so comfy!
We usually hook up electric first, then water then sewer. Not that it matters, just how we end up doing it.
For safety, I am going to hook up the electricity last and disconnect it first. When the electricity is connected first, the possibility of being shocked by the city water or sewer connections, although extremely rare, is still a possibility.
Hook the surge protector into the electric post first, before you do anything else, including disconnecting from the tow vehicle. This will tell you if the power post is alive or dead. If it's dead, you will have to move to another site, so you want to find out as soon as possible.
How’s life?, Like it. nice shots, Graetful~😲
Life is good! Thanks for watching
Another thing we really like is our zero g hose.. no kinks ever!
👍🏻
I purchased the campground views but so far I haven’t found any campgrounds that they have the videos of. Does not look like they have that many yet. Are they mostly in Texas and Florida?
They have most all the parks that you can book on recreation.gov / they are working on adding state parks - they have Arizona state parks coming online soon (if not already on board) as well as many other states. They also have a request a park option at the bottom of the website
Is there a sewer hose length you recommend? I have heard that different campgrounds have different setups and so I am wondering what the length is that we should purchase. Thank you!
We have a 20 ft and carry a 10’ft extension- we use this one on Amazon amzn.to/3m8nIKQ
Well, here goes:
Carry a spare water regulator. Experience taught me this when it failed and blew a connection at the toilet. The plumbing in an RV is PEX which is used in houses so the real culprit are the mickey mouse rv connectors used in the RV industry. Funny how you can get better ones at an RV store.
A secondary idea on water is something I learned from another Ew Toob channel. When leaving the RV for an extended period of time, turn off the water at the spigot. Nothing worse than coming back and seeing your RV flooded.
I use a 4 way spigot I found at Harbor Freight where each outlet has an individual 1/4 turn shut off valve.
I have a travel trailer and use 90 degree elbows on all the exterior water connections. This put less strain on those mickey mouse RV factory water connections and stops drips.
Still there? On to the sewer hook up. Again, learned from another Ew Toober. Make a sand bag out of an old pair of jeans and lay it over the elbow of your sewer hose at the park's connection. This will prevent accidental disconnects.
Finally, never ever leave your grey tank sewer lever open. When you see what can come out of the park's sewer, you'll be a firm believer.
Oh, a bonus item. On my last trip a few months ago, the surge suppressor identified the electrical pedestal as having reverse polarity. This will cause anything in your rv to be permanently hot, even if turned off. The park owner didn't understand so called a handy man and he couldn't fix it so luckily we were able to get another space.
Great tips, thanks for sharing
Leaving the black tank valve open creates the dreaded poo poo teepee. Learned that on our very first RV trip. 😳
😮💩
I just viewed your channel and you were talking about water regulator good information but you need to push a water filter system because not all water is up to pare, explain what the filter does to rig. Like save your appliance. Just helping out .
Thanks so much for the suggestion
I see no discount code anywhere for the camp views site
Use the discount code “exclusive”
You need to have a water filter attached to your hose unless you have a filter built into the rv. We learned to have extra water hose washers and sewer hose washers because those seals don’t always last or sometimes fall out and you don’t know it.
Feel like number 2 should have been the sewer #poopjokes
Don’t store your sewer hoses in the fresh water hook-up compartment. The ones in this video don’t even have caps on them.🤮
We keep our sewer hoses in a separate compartment from anything with freshwater
You need chemical that dissolves all the waste and toilet paper... and kills odor!
We use the chemicals from Unique Camping + Marine 😉
Kind’a of disappointed with this video. There are literally hundreds of videos out there about “must haves “ for the RV.So really nothing new here that we don’t already know. When are you going to get back to to your roots of showing us your trips to parks around the country? Just my thoughts.
Great video!
Thanks!
