@budwhite1 the Maori already beat England with a second string team. a lot of the Maori first grade players had to play for the all blacks during the period when the Maori beat England and Ireland early this year, in fact over 2 thirds of the all blacks team were Maori during that period, that's a lot of first choice players to be missing from a team but they still beat England and Ireland.
@vinsonyuk The NZ Maori are a very strong team and usually field several All Blacks. But i think a grandslam tour of the UK would be a big ask. They are always suspect if a big hard pack starves the ball (ie. England 2003 summer tour with Shaw, Corry and Vickery) I think that they could win 2 or 3 with luck but could also lose 2 or 3, England at twickers would be a big ask.
@budwhite1 The NZ maori were missing Dan Carter, Cory Jane, Piri Weepu, Richard Kahui, Isreal Dagg, Zac Guildford, Aled Demelmanche, Anthony Boric and Aaron Cruden because they had to play for the all blacks team that put 60+ points on last years undefeated 6 nations winners Ireland. The NZ maori can field all blacks in every postion except maybe tight head prop (only because the best tighthead prop in the world Carl Haymond, is playing in europe now).
I remember watching this game and just thinking 'What on earth do the All Blacks have in store for us if we can't beat the Maori side'. With respect to the Maori side of course, who were clearly an excellent team.
But they shouldn't have been beaten by this team. Although the Maoris are obviously a good team, the Lions would have hoped, maybe even expected, to win this game. Then they got beaten easily by the All Blacks.
That's true! I was 13 watching this tour mind so I don't think I ever looked beyond any game I was watching! The 2017 tour should be good, but to be honest the way the All Blacks have gone up another level since the World Cup, I can't see it being anything other than a 3-0 blackwash again! Two tests are at Eden Park too, where the All Blacks haven't lost since 1994! It's set up to fail for the Lions.
@hmmm098 churr thats right..the boys prob took the lions clubbing and the hamilton girls gave them herpies!! chur to the greatest game in maori history!!
Riki Flutey made the england team and the british and irish lions team, yet when he played in New zealand for the wellington hurricanes super 12 team he couldnt even hold his spot in the starting 15. last year the lions only beat the cheetahs by 1 point, yet the cheetahs come last in the super 14 because the didnt win a single game. Argument over, I won and you know nothing about rugby
I was there that night. One of the best atmospheres at a game I have ever experienced.
3:46 greatest nugget of rugby knowledge ever to be imparted on mankind. May we be ever thankful.
MrNapoleanMortimer 😂🤣😆😂 classic Mex
Fair play to the Maori, that was a strong Lions team but so was the Maori team man... Holah, Hayman, Gibbes, Spencer, McCallister, Gear,Weepu etc etc
one of the best games in new zealand history
"Mmm Hangi roasted Lion on the menu boys!!"
Shame Lions. NZ Maori thoroughly deserved the win. What a historic game! One of the best games I've seen.
Is that the famously evenhanded Mexted again?

that is the best rugby haka ive ever seen!
Bludy awesom!!!!! Our northern counterparts would love to get our players aye.
Legendary Māori side that one.
So Maori have won 18 tests in a row so why no record ?
if the Lions won 18 in a row they wouldn't have the record either, on account of not being a national team.

@budwhite1 A full strength maori team would easily complete a grandslam.
Cause I got a link that disagrees with you but for some reason, it won't let me post it.
@pramboy09 Really?
HANDS DOWN BEST!! Haka of them all, done THIS WAY!!
Now that's a Haka!!!

The 2005 Lions team was a Great side bro and pushed this Team to the wire. looking forward to the 2017 Tour.
But they shouldn't have been beaten by this team. Although the Maoris are obviously a good team, the Lions would have hoped, maybe even expected, to win this game. Then they got beaten easily by the All Blacks.
The one thing you had to remember was some of the Maori boys were also All Blacks, so i was really glad that the NZ rugby let them play!
