  • Today Jenny is upgrading her layout with some DCC controlled ground signals. Let's see how she gets on.
If you like the look of these signals and the other equipment to run them, here's a link where you can get some for yourself: bit.ly/3uAkjHu

I find these types of videos very interesting. There are so many products out there and to see some in action and how to install is great. John

Thanks for the vid, very helpful. I am building a layout, and have decided to go with DCC concepts gear, and have bought the ground signals, cobalt ss motors, the ss levers, and the alpha and the point control board.
    I also bought the boosters.
Also thanks for sending off my extension cables... they aren't currently available in Australia. Out of stock all around the country.

I am where you started. I want to do the same thing. DCC Concepts with ip Digital Cobalt switches, ground signals and mimic lighting with ESP wireless system. Just need to sort out what exactly will be needed to do a 500 ft track with 50 + - turnouts

Great video as usual. I use two Alpha Central units for my IP Digital points powered by an Alpha Sniffer it's so easy to set up. One thought, the ground signals on channel 6, the left signal would usually have a yellow/white aspect

Same here Derrick. Have you wired up signals to change with the points? I’m hoping that’s doable.

DCC concepts don’t make a yellow shunt signal so I will have to use train tech.

I have 3 of the alpha centrals linked up and just today was wondering if the ground signals worked with them, thanks for the info.

I put some of those in on my new layout about a month ago... theyre great, but I had to remove the plugs to thread the wire through the baseboard, which I think was the only oversight in the kit.

You can always use a slightly larger drill bit if need be.

Trouble is DCC concepts don’t make a Yellow ground signal!! Is it correct I’m told the hole you drill for the shunt signal is too small for the attached plug to go through? If you have multiple signals in your yard showing two Whites you will have lots of crashes 😆 (in the real world)

Nice signals. The danger aspect seems to be a realistic brightness, but the clear aspect seems overly bright. Surely this feature isn’t prototypical?

Without a layout diagram, how do you know which point you are chhosing? All looks overly complcated, ie just feed the signals off the point decoder. Seems to be adding to your birds nest too.

@jennifer E. Kirk - any extra info on these dwarrfs, want to use them on a DC only signal system. I note only two wires tot he signals so I assume the polarity chanhes the signal. but what voltage are they - will I need a resistor ??? the manual has no such info nor can I find it online !!

Can you attach the ground signals to the Cobalt IP Digital switch machine?

    • @JenniferEKirk
      @JenniferEKirk  Рік тому +1

You need to use one of their ground signal board products but then the Cobalt iP will switch it via one of its switches.

I use kiln dried paving sand - costs a few pounds for a 10kg bag from B&Q. It is sold for doing block paving.
After fixing in place with diluted PVA and allowing to dry, I weather with diluted gloss black paint.
