If we give hime time, he will be one of the all time greats in his own way. He is proper test batsman. Have you seen his 4th innings average, not even the little master Tendulkar matches Pant. Infact pretty much no one is even close to Pant in 4th innings (not even the great Badman) - the most important in a test match. What makes it even sweeter is that most of those innings came away from home. He is the single biggest reason India almost won at Sydney. Oppositions can still come back if someone score big first innings or second innings score, but it's very different in fourth innings.
He is going to be the biggest match winner the test cricket has ever seen.

The great Australian teams of the past always had players who were great in fourth innings - Ponting, Greg Chappell, Bradman. Or Sir Viv Richards for West Indies. And it took them some time in LOIs before they could be match winners. Their avg in the first 14 games was less than that of Pant. People forget that he's young. Back him. And he'll be a match winner in LOIs too. No apparent weakness. Plays spin and pace well. It's all about temperament. And he has worked on it. It's visible
