I agree with you about commissions. For me it takes away from my wild creative side. That’s what people want. They are purchasing my pictures in my mind. ❤
I love The Way You Created These Cards !!!!You have Inspired Me To Try Doing Some Art My Self...I Had A Dry Spell With Art ...But You Have Given Me a Spark Of The Power With-in My Spirit!! Thank You!!
Thank you Betty, I found this and so glad that I did. I have trying to teach myself these techniques as an abstract painter.. your very generous in your information and tips and tricks.. much appreciated..thank you
What a brilliant idea! I love the postcards and your whole process of making them. Turquoise is such a great complimentary color with pinks, yellows and oranges. Thanks!
New subscriber! Hello from Sunny South Africa. If our postal service was reliable I'd be making these and posting to all and sundry... they are awesome!
Thanks for this, I really enjoyed it. I love playing around with collage too. I have found I get the least wrinkles if I lightly spritz the front of the clipping with water before gluing it down. Then I brush a little medium over the top and gently rub over with my fingers. I find Golden soft gel works really well for this.
What a brilliant idea, using the stampin' up catalog for those images! I have one sitting about, out of date, but haven't brought myself to throw it away. Now I'm glad I didn't.
Thank you Judy! I have tried that method, too. When I scrape it with a credit card it usually takes off part of the magazine color. But, maybe I need to try again! :-)
Thank you, this was fun if a little fast! The end results are great - I liked the wrinkly woman and I also liked the cards you had not worked on. They looked plainer but edgier I thought. Would it be possible to include a list above of your materials with manufacturers' names? Just a thought.
Totally love this, in fact, paper's on my desk, lots of color on it....... yours looks pretty, mine....... a big mess :( But I will go on and finish it!!!! Think I'm too much of a perfectionist!
doreen badger Hi Doreen! For the back, I just add a stitching-type stamp to divide the area between where I write a message and where I put the address. Sometimes there's paint on that side, but I don't mind. It's all part of the look! :-)
It would be nice if you included the names of the products/pens/inks etc that you used in the 'show more' section. You mention kristy/christie/christy ...??? but love your technique and tute, thank you!
Good idea Sue! I'll need to remember that. I believe I was referring to Christy Tomlinson: christytomlinson.typepad.com/christytomlinson/2011/02/scarlet-lime-shop-and-she-art-workshop-q-a-s.html
Love your work! I have one question - what about copy right? If you just use it for personal use, I assume there is no problem but if you were to sell them, is there?
Hi Jane! I am no longer doing mixed media (since 2015), but all my videos on my youtube channel are still up and available for viewing. Maybe there was a glitch on the day you tried. Thanks for watching them!
I'm watching for the umpteenth time and it dawns on me that you aren't putting any medium on the back of the magazine pictures. If you put medium on your water color paper AND on the back of the pics, you won't have any wrinkles. :)
Just subscribed. Beautiful work. Beyond inspiring. Thank you for sharing this. I am also called Mystic Pencil so seeing a name as beautiful as Mystic Tulip Art brings me great joy! Totally love your videos :)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea of using one big surface to create the initial design before cutting them up and individualizing them!! BRILLLIANT!
Thank you Lynnette! It's the fast, fun and easy way! :-)
I am late commenting, but have only now discovered your channel. Love your free, bold style. Thank you👍🎨😊
Thanks so much! Glad you found me!!

Yaay a fellow Vogue lover!
I have been wondering how to use these magazines.
Thank you!
The Vogue ones are the best. I just love the poses the models make! Thanks for watching, Liane!
Very smart idea! Love them!
Betty, I love watching you and your work!!!! Congrats! ;)
I do, too...but being entirely honest, I find many of the Vogue models rather unattractive. Like your work, tho.
great video THank you so very much for sharing, awesome

Yes, I have tried the Golden soft gel and it works so much better than matte medium. Thank you!
Super cool..I love this. You are awesome!
This was super. Absolutely giving this a try when I get home to my art stash. Thanks for sharing the technique and your creativity.
What a brilliant idea, using the stampin' up catalog for those images! I have one sitting about, out of date, but haven't brought myself to throw it away. Now I'm glad I didn't.
This was so fun to watch. I just started dabbling in mixed media and haven't found my style yet :) This was so inspiring!!
Even though I'm only seeing female comments I really like this. I created something along that style for a friend of mine. She liked it as well.
I loved creating these cards. I think anyone can create their own version based on what they love. Thanks, Hans!
Wonderful! and so inspiring, can't wait to get my hands inky...
Impressive!!!! Love what you made!! You definitely inspire!! TFS
To collage easily, after you paste down magazine pieces, cover with paper towel and Breyer down flatly. It works well.
Pretty cool Betty.
The last one in 3 pieces could be glued onto a thin backing board.
Great idea! Thanks for watching!
These are beautiful Betty! TFS
Thank you, Betty! I shall be having a go at this!
Love the process of this, & the end result. TFS
Love this one! I just subscribed so I can keep up with your work and learn something more every time I come here...
just found your video and those are amazing. I will be trying my hand it these...tfs
So fun, Betty. Thank you!! Try putting the medium on the back of the picture AND the surface then scrape it down with old credit card or brayer.
Thank you Judy! I have tried that method, too. When I scrape it with a credit card it usually takes off part of the magazine color. But, maybe I need to try again! :-)
Betty Franks, Mystic Tulip Art That makes sense. I could see it rubbing off.
Gorgeous cards Betty!!
LOVE this one !!
Amazing art! ♥
Love the idea can’t wait to have a go
Awesome! Thanks for watching!

I appreciate you watching the video! I created it back in 2014, so unfortunately, I don't have access anymore of the materials I used.
What did you use for stick the items?
Love these, Betty! :)

Thank you this is so inspiring!
Loved it !!!
Enjoyed your video.
Thank you for watching, Susan! I loved making this postcard!
very nice
Really super postcards. I love the colors. I was wondering, how do you finish off the back of them ??
doreen badger Hi Doreen! For the back, I just add a stitching-type stamp to divide the area between where I write a message and where I put the address. Sometimes there's paint on that side, but I don't mind. It's all part of the look! :-)
New subscriber :) I'm enjoying your videos. I love this idea

Hi Dolores! I apologize for the delayed response to your question. You are right, since this was for personal use, there are not copyright issues.
Très jolie 👍
Many thanks!
Hi Betty
Have you stopped doing mixed media now? I still watch your journalling pages often but cant get them up today for some reason.

One of my old favorites! Thanks, Raye!
how large would each postcard be ? I have a 9 x 12 sheet, so wondering how many sections I should divide mine into ? Thank you.
Good question! I would cut out a piece of 4x6" paper as a template and then you can move it around to mark where to cut. Thanks for watching!
@@BettyFranksArt thank you! ok gonna do it!
@@LadyJaneG Have fun creating!!
