I can't imagine how terrifying that must be to be locked inside and drown in one of these metal beasts at the bottom on the ocean, unreal ... RIP to all the marines who have died
You should say in 1944 what a honor
More like 1944
In 1968 I saw an Amtrac come down off the ramp of an LST and go straight to the bottom of the ocean off of Camp LeJeune. 30 Marines drowned. I was sitting in my Communications jeep on the beach. I'll never forget it.
Was it 13 grunts and five crewmen ?
@@daveherrin2701 -- Honestly it's been so long that I only remember that the total dead was 30. But the sight of it coming down the ramp of the LST and not floating haunts me to this day. I was the Communications Sargeant and was sitting in my Jeep on the beach. The LST was perhaps 1.5 miles off shore.
The assult amphibious vehicle is very awesome!
I am favourite in to the assult amphibious vehicle!
Rest In Peace to the marines that lost their lives in one of these recently.
The AAV is 40 years old. Maybe some seals were leaking. They need to fix it.
These are more than just a hull. They have all those moving parts for the wheels and tank tread, gears, hydraulics, ect all submerged. Be sure to recognize the maintainers of these vehicles. Salt water is an incredibly corrosive environment. Navy and Marine ships are constantly working on the up keep of their fleets. Keeping these things running must be a constant battle.
AAV:You see that water?Fuck that water.

This is pretty cool.
I wish we had vehicles like that here in Finland.
I have one am selling... although it uses kerosene. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mestari1Gaming ooh do you need vehicle like that ??

finland actully does have vehicles like this
Newer model LVT-P7 ... Mine didn't have the fold up bow plane, the exhaust was vertical and only a single Ma Deuce in the turret ... But then I was half way thru my tour when we got issued camo ...
YAT YAS FTW ...
Amazing how many guys they fit in there!
Glad they are exiting an amphibious landing craft under cover of armor instead of running straight into the fray of bullets.

uas seaman aboard U.S.S.Dubuque L.P.D.8 these are newer larger than what we had it 70s
those AAVs are cool and I have 2 questions the first two AAVs that hit the beach what is the purpose of the flaps that was folding when they landed and how many marines can it carry
Spencer Garner that flap helps with hydrodynamics and officially it is supposed to carry 17-21 plus a crew of three, but I’ve put as many 34 in one before when another vehicle broke down.
Spencer Garner sale
The original design from the 70's had a Detroit Diesel, in the 80's it was upgraded to a Cummins, and later when the undercarriage of the Bradley was added, along with the armor plates, a much bigger power train was needed, so to keep the bow from dipping in during water operations, the front flap (don't know the proper terminology) was added.
Byron Roman Same engine as a Bradley too the RAM RS is literally making it a Bradley but in a the body of a track.

A tank swimming and diving would be strategically valuable to integrate the submarine-technics, since decoding enigma in question against stealth-tec, in tanks.

The Amphibious Assault Vehicle is a beautiful military vehicle, I want it to stay in service for decades and never need to be replaced by useless acv.
I’m sure all the Marines who regularly risk drowning in these outdated metal coffins would agree with you.

I told you that they are built in Brasil 🇧🇷
Are you sure? These originated and are built in the USA and they are American AAV7s they belong to the marine corp (USMC)
👍👍👍👍👍
Beautiful toy . so fluffy
It feels like 1944 Omaha beach landing
The submarine-ability to dive should be combinated with tanks, because submarine for its own is dissolved by stealth-tec. - A so called "sub-tank-marine".
One of my step dad's drove for American Steel out of Los Angeles Harbor any smoke me on his truck go to Fort Pendleton for take your kid to work week in 1977 they had one of these alongside the road going into the main base stuck in the mud clear up to the gunnels poor bastards they were digging away instead of getting a wrecker to pull it out

No,it's amphibious

Need to just put like big bulletproof inflatable tube around the edge because a lot of people drowned from using this recently
Must be great for camping.
they need to upgrade the armament or develop a new vehicle that atleast have capabilities to destroy tanks and amphibious.

Bonjour et mercie
I’m trying to figure out how water got in and killed these marines, sailor.
The seal probably wasn’t right and water was able to leak in somewhere
They leak constantly. Not engineered to, but seals wear and it happens. Sand and saltwater is a harsh environment. Bilge pumps keep control of it. Power failure stops the hydraulic pumps, and the battery pumps only run for so long. Lot of things could have went wrong. They now have as training rapid evacuation procedures because of the accident.
Amy nice one guys
We need those guys badly on Baltic against crazy Russia
