I watched this film yesterday and I was amazed how the editor pulled off everything esp this incredible scene. I was thrilled in fact, great Job Netflix.
This has become my favorite UA-cam channel. Just based on tips I have gotten from this channel and just going out and doing the damn thing I have been able to gain jobs in editing so thanks!
@@krizhiel6376 The one I went to was incredible! Was 90% practical throughout. Typically any University/College Film school courses aren’t great for hands on work so if you’re interested in studying film make sure you choose a school that specialises practicality.

@@ChrisGeden In coming to america it was very limited and wasn't the point of the whole movie, the story and comedy still worked in that movie. When he was going overboard with playing an entire family it didn't really work. The only one who was able to pull it off was Jack Black...
Every comedy has this level of work even including most of the VFX process. Even a small film has 500 shots no problem. Improv is the name of the game on set these days so everything is prepping for the director to come in. This is different in that every performance has to be a VFX shot to combine the 2 sides. Motion control camera makes that slightly easier

You should look into David Finchers laters career. Realistic dramas and stylized thrillers on the surface, pretty much vfx extravaganzas rivalling most blockbusters under the hood.

i watched this movie, didn’t find it all that funny, but i am trying to career in film/video editing. this video shows a lot of skills needed for making movies nowadays and how good you actually need to be at editing with special effects and things done in post, so thanks.
I need a video like this but with Orphan Black. Because man that was some good tv. Tatiana plays like 6 or so characters and the edits are pretty dope.
So while watching this 17 min long video I got 3 ads from UA-cam, and 2 and a half invideo ads from Sven (in the middle with this hosts' course, at the end ad for editfest and half ad is Netflix building and what they do). That's like one ad every two and a half minute, that's really annoying.
Great video! Love to see the Rubber meet the road... but Netflix’s days are numbered. Remember Blockbuster? Tower? Much cheaper ways to shoot and cut and stream.

Are they editing 8K footage? What hardware do they use? After seeing Linus Tech Tips I realized how demanding - even for a PC with the best hardware available on the market - the editing of high resolution footage is.
@@EdwardTheGamer Ah, of course, this makes sense! Question remains: Why is Linus editing in 8K (or why would anyone do that which requires the RED ROCKET X 7000$ GPU) ? :-D
@@jan861 Even Linus and his editors don't work in such high resolution, keep in mind that an 8k file contains 4 times more pixels than a 4k one so it would only slow down the work. That video shows how hard it is to work on a movie that cannot yet be seen on commercial screens in an age where software and hardware are not yet ready.
the movie was kinda slow to get into the point at first. It's okay. Not the editor fault tho. But it's cool to see BTS of the editor putting the effort.

If there’s over 150 million subscribers then they pay monthly which is 13 dollars you do math. Couldn’t take that long to get the money back

This much editing goes into ALL films . We're on films for upwards of 10 months usually. We're not just sitting on our thumbs ha

That's for adding stuff on the timeline, they use a Reference Monitor for the actual film or show.
You can see his monitor on his right is a higher quality monitor too
I'm using a 4k 2019 Cintiq and a vertically spun Lenovo hahah apple doesn't make the cut anymore
FYI HP Dreamcolor monitors are standard monitors in most high end post-production workstations.They are not your average consumer HP monitors

No, they edit using lighter resolution footages and then export best quality projects using workstations.
