UPDATE: No need to resheath the needle. www.nmc.org.uk/globalassets/sitedocuments/registration/toc-materials-2023/marking-docs/rn1-adult-nursing-marking-criteria-2021.pdf
hi sir, just curious, because there has been a number of students who failed their exams in a certain test center area who re-sheathed the blunt needle while using the scooping method. My question is, if re-sheath is not allowed, how would you take away the blunt needle and place the new one?
To all who prepared these videos, thank you very much! I have missed my OSCE trainings due to isolation and have had little amount of time to catch up with the skills. Your videos reassure that they can be done with ease. May He bless you always! I am eternally grateful for the guidance you have been giving to those who are about to start their journey as a nurse in the UK 😊♥️

Hi, Emer! I can see in the video that the excess medication of hydroxycobalamine was disposed in the yellow bin, is it the sharps bin? Is it okay to do during OSCE? Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for the video references you have made in relation to OSCE, it was so much helpful for me being an independent candidate, i recently passed the exam 🥺 more power and blessings to you guys!🙏🏻❤️
Thanks for your vids! Really helpful and i hope to pass my legacy osce coming soon. Also i read some comments, i just want to say that this is not just for school, this is for OSCE, it is a practical test for those who wish to become a registered nurse in UK. I studied nursing in Singapore, graduated in 2012 and back then we were also taught to check all items to be used are dry, intact and not expired. So yes, this video is very good and ticks all requirements in marking criteria (based on legacy osce marking criteria)
excellent video but FYI the latest marking criteria (July 2024) don't require an apron and gloves anymore. Also don't need to clean the site if it's clean just verbalise the 30/30 if need be.
Emerr i also watch your video, it's been so help and i love your lady, so professional and fast. but the latest criteria says do not pull back the plunger unless using Dorsogluteal muscle, kindly confirm. thanks
@@EmerDiego hello just to confirm, as of 2023 marking criteria IM #12 Depresses the plunger at aprox 1ml every 10sec. (ONLY if using dorsogluteal muscles: pulls back the plunger to check for blood aspiration.) Are using real ampules during the exam? Thanks for uploading videos :) :)
Hi Emer I hope you are doing well. Do we have to open the sterile pack during the examination. I am confused and keep all the equipments at the bottom shelf of the trolley??? Please help Thank you
Hi Ian, if you read the note on the screen- you no longer need to aspirate unless you are administering the im medication via dorsogluteal muscle. So yeah no need based on the latest criteria
Hi Ghislaine, wondering if there’s any problem with touching the sharps bin. You have to be safe, especially with handling sharps. That’s why you need to close it halfway, so the needles inside won’t be spilt if the bin is accidentally dropped on the floor.
Hi Bea, yes, you are correct! However, this is for the OSCE skills station, and you need to be meticulous so your assessor can assess you correctly. If you do it fast, they won’t be able to mark you. And remember your exam is being recorded in the test centre.
Why on Earth do you have to state that the packaging is dry and intact plus the expiration date for every single item!? I get that this is for school and in school you have to do things a certain way, but is that seriously a requirement now!? Like to actually state it for the camera for each item!? I graduated from nursing school in 2013, and skills check offs were definitely picky, but not this picky! Lol. I guess things have changed! Watching this gave me anxiety!
Hello, I watched your video and i failed, It is wrong to scoop and re-sheath needles 😢. People will fall if they watch this! Please remove it if it is possible , please 🙏 Thank you.
Sorry about that. I've pinned a comment at the comment section warning everyone about resheathing a couple of months ago and also discussed this during my live classes. Apologies for the confusion. Please always refer to the marking criteria

Yes that is correct , only pull the plunger back if dorsogluteal. goodluck
in the OSCE will we be preparing the medication in the patient room?
If this is a glass ampoule, how do we break it please? Any instrument to break it?
Hello sir , aren’t we suppose to read the prescription only again before administering or befor preparing equipment is it enough? Please answer
do it before preparing the equipment and once is enough. How will you know what to prepare if you haven't done that. good luck

What I am confused about is that I have never in my life had an injection and thr nurse has swabbed my arm for 30 seconds?
Hi do you have sample skills for Legacy/old TOC?
Hi Romelle, what do you mean?
@@EmerDiego skills such as IM injection and subctaneous injection for old OSCE reviewers sir EMer

Hi Emer
I hope you are doing well. Do we have to open the sterile pack during the examination. I am confused and keep all the equipments at the bottom shelf of the trolley??? Please help
Thank you
You need to open the pack during exams and put remaining items inside the sterile field. Good luck
Hi Emer, please do u offer practical tuition for independent candidate?
Indication(s) for injection??
Any side effects of the drug please?
Thank you very much for the video with kindness and respect
Emer, do you know the time limit for the im injection station in the new osce with 10 stations? Thank you.
12 minutes
Why have I not seen sterile technique, sterile gloves
Which date we need to write for documentation, is that the day the exam is held?
Yes or the word Today. You will that information written on the scenario. Good luck
Thanks great video presentation!❤❤❤
May I ask if the dialogue is standard for osce exam station
?
I'm very interested in procedures, otherwise it's very skilled nursing thanks 🙏
Do we need to use the Z-track method? Ty
Stretch the skin

Oh im sorry.. Im actually focusing on your actions..Thank you again Emer!
@@ianluigilopez3319 good luck
You didn't confirm with patients ID band. Patients could answer to anything.
Hi Emer,
Are we going to count it for 30secs or 5secs
30 seconds as per marking criteria but normally the assessor will tell you that 30 seconds has passed
How about the bleep number?
bleep only applies in hospital settings. You will see telephone/mobile in the community
@@EmerDiego thank you Nurse ☺️☺️☺️
Hi Emer,
For IM injection are we gonna get ampoule or plastic bottle in real exam please confirm
As I m not familiarize with ampoule breaking
The ampoule that you will be using is plastic (as shown in the video) but you will treat it as glass
Thankyou Emer for your quick response
Your method of teaching is really amazing
Keep going 👍
Why is there no second identity check?
Hi Anna, once is enough based on the marking criteria
Im confused for 30 seconds means 5 seconds??
Hi heart, of course its 30 seconds . Can you imagine filming the entire 30 seconds that would be boring
Aren't we suppose to tell everything what we are doing.??? Thanks
Hey, what do you mean?
Is this uk?
Yup
@@EmerDiego oh see. Thanks
@@EmerDiego I can't think of one hospital department other than chemo or ITU where you have the opportunity to wait for 30 mins post injection.
What is this osce
I said gluteal not deltoid😃
Is it 30s or 5s
