100% on that "ask yourself these questions" list at 9:31! That's really valuable advice. The results of those will allow you to know whether to build more T2 spam, more T3, an experimental, a nuke launcher, bombers, air, or whatever.
It's common for new players to struggle against turtle players: 1. It's easier to just defend one base (turtle) then secure entire map so turtle players are on the advantage here. 2. Those turtle players may not be high in the rank system but they quite often play SC:FAF for some time (so they do have more experience then new players). 3. You (as a newer player) constantly hear how bad turtling is and when you fight such player you don't know what to do.
I wonder how long ago this game was, because I think I played against this dude a few months ago where he did the exact same thing. Turteling is probably just the way he plays. Trolled him with 10 satellites after containing him. My advices if you see guys hiding behind their expensive PD wall: relax, keep scouting (!) and eco up like a mad man, while they waste their ressources on PD. Mass increases exponentially. If you are ahead, get more ahead. And don't donate them mass by sacrificing your units into their bases. If you want to end it quickly, rush T3 air. Strats can turn many games.
totaly agree with your comments above. yup, you would have played him, his rank is a little higher now, ive versed him a few times and if an initial tank and arty rush doesnt kill him, you got to just stop, relax, and eco up.
Reminds me of my first PvP game, which was against my friend (we only really play vs AI, but we're able to take on AIX now). I was cybran and had full map control with T1, he was UEF and rushed to T2. He then slowly pushed my T1 army back with his T2 units and missile launchers, and klink hammers were in range of my base. I then went to T2, and got stealth and cloak and laser on my commander. At this point his units were on my base so my last effort to win was to walk my cloak laser commander into his base and snipe his comm. But turns out his comm wasn't in his base, but with his units on the frontline. My laser did take a good chunk out of his base though before I lost. Got the replay if you're interested.
@@TheGreenSquier are you on the faf discord? I'll send it over on there if so. It's a few months old now so hopefully no compatibility issues with the current game version, idk how the game handles such things. I'm new to the game too, been playing 3-4 months, best £1.79 I've ever spent, definitely got my money's worth!
@@lMrJackl I am technically on the FAF Discord, but I don't check it too often. My own Discord would be a much better place to reach me! discord.gg/xAyYEZuyut Compatibility shouldn't be a problem, I think the game will revert to whatever the update was at the time of the replay. Cheers!
I think that building a t2 arty wasn't necessarily a bad idea, but the fact that you were very non-committal in all your endeavors hurt you allot. Throwing allot of mass away in hopeless attacks actually allowed him to get ahead of you in total mass, and he invested that mass right back into building up his turtle economy. By the time you had fully committed to building a t2 artillery siege on his base he was already ahead if you by 3k mass and was running almost even with you in current mass. there WAS a window where an artillery station would have been a killing blow, but you couldn't capitalize on it because you were stretched thin. Overall Im a newcomer too, but I play sera. my initial reaction was to just start building t1 mobile arty, spam, and then I realized you were aeon which changed things, lol. as I understand Aeon is one of the harder factions to master, but they have a great air game. looking at it, just teching up to t3 would have saved you allot of grief as a harbs or a single absolver would have popped those shields... it also bears in mind that aeon have sniper bots that could have picked away at anything not shielded. Not sure if A experimental would have been a good idea. Aeon experimentals are great, but they're expensive builds, so I liked your nuke idea better.
ive versed lansraad a few times. he does the same build and strat every game, go look at his replays. and he yields you total map control and turtles up, slowly layering up his defences with eco defences more eco etc until he gets 60 ras coms up and the game is over haha. he plays uef exclusively. trick with him is to rush him in the first moments of the game, scout him asap, bomb him, if you find your not making progress on hurting him, stop. and play his game, eco up fast, stop building milatary, while still scouting him and eco up your whole map that you should have as he yields it to you. then hit him with all the options, arty, tac missles, t2 t3 tanks, experimentals, ive won and lost to him.
before i even watch the video, im only 30 seconds in i wonder if you defeat is similar to one i had where i also had total map control had the enemy boxed in and i was just a bit too far forward with my commander and didn't have any significant amount of AA and died to about 15 or 20 t1 bombers that the opponent was stacking in the back of his base. to be fair the loss was still my own fault just for not scouting towards the end when i thought i already had the game won

something I learned from Gylecast: don’t try to out-turtle the UEF. Great vid and thx for sharing ✌️

the incredibly low APM and micro definetly plays to a turtles advantage

Game was a little over a year ago; I'm a relative newcomer to the FAF community!

Amazing video. We need so much more like that. You didnt lose, bc you and us learned so much

another point, he always liked to hit back with tech 2 fighter bombers.
Yeah I had the map control, just needed to eco up instead of wasting my mass on frontal attacks!
Such painful
You should of eco'd when seeing pd's, its very annoying when players do this but thats what happens when you have unlimited eco
That's a tough map
You could of built t1 art units they outrange pd you didn't build a good unit comp
