I personally think learning the truth could've very well pushed him back into depression since he basicly wouldn't know how to feel about it. He would want to be angry at Sunny but also would be relieved that it wasn't his fault, yet both of those feelings would seem selfish. So he'd try to hide it but he wouldn't be able to keep it in for long. He would both be angry and feel bad for Sunny and Basil and would just be in shock over all. Hero would come around eventually but he might not be able to look at Sunny and Basil the same way. And I don't like the headcanons where he basicly beats Sunny up or something because, Hero is just not like that. From Kel's story we know that even at his worst he only uses words to "fight".
honestly agreed because people keep thinking he beats sunny and/or basil up for it and while it's just their thoughts tbh i don't like it that much considering hero's personality
Tbh I thought him beating sunny up would be jokes but I defo can't see him ever looking at sunny or basil the same way again or being as close friends again. Tho I do think eventually years later he could be on civil talking terms even if not the same as before. But the reason I highly doubt he would ever forgive sunny or basil completely is cuz they faked a suicide rather than say it was an accident, which led him to his self doubt and deppresion that even got him to change his career path to smt his parents wanted. And became a workaholic. Seeing him forgive them completely just seems unrealistic in that scenario
The fan base sucks when it comes too representing Hero, in some comics/fanfiction they make him seem like someone who unjustifiably dislikes Sunny. Or they'd make him way too perfect. He deserves more representation in the fanbase.
And the fan base will push Hero down terribly and they don't yet know that Hero is an adult who doesn't show his emotions easily (If you notice) And he's also the one who makes peace gambling between Kel and Aubrey. And some people asked if Mari died, would he be sad? Then the answer is of course yes. I don't know if he really reached acceptance on the last day. I feel like he's still trying really hard to act like he has it all together or hide the pain (probably because he doesn't want to have to force the people he loves to see him hurting this badly), and the truth would probably blindside him with another horrific thing, but he'd reach acceptance eventually and forgive Sunny and hopefully Basil This is a really good video though, we need more Hero appreciation. He's such a genuinely sweet guy, selfless and kind, even to a fault
I'm so glad you mentioned the parallels between Sunny and Hero when it comes to how they dealt with Mari's death. A lot of people say that Hero would never forgive Sunny. But that simply isn't true, he practically LIVED like Sunny did for a year. He knows what that guilt feels like, he has felt that pain and I think knowing that Sunny dealt with that for 4 years would break his heart. Omocat clearly gave everybody in the friendgroup a reason to forgive Sunny, you just have to pay attention and look for them.
Oh Hero, I'm honestly really excited to hear your thoughts on the matter but in the meantime I'm just gonna leave my own thoughs here, Now, I have to agree that Hero is generally the most underatted character out of the main group and I think I may know the reason of that, but to explain It I first need to explain how each character of the main cast acted in regards to Mari's death, Sunny chosed neutrality, living in his own safe space of ellaborated pieces that just vaguely represent his life before Mari was killed, this whole panorama is honestly pretty Interesting, using completly neutrality to deal with traumatizing events is something rarely seen in media and It top of that there's also the fact that what we see is his mind, leaving a lot of Sunny's feeling left to the interpretation, now with Kel, he chosed to cope with Mari's death via happiness, he went throught the process of toxic poxitivity up to actually reaching a true content state, alongside this he also had to deal with his parents' negligence, they always payed more attention to Hero and when he left It would've been a great opportunity for Kel to finally get some attention but then Sally was born and the course repeated itself, then we have Aubrey, she choose to live with the pain and channelled that in the form of anger and hatred against everyone and everything, now this is not something new, there have been plenty of characthers in games that coped with traumatizing events using anger but the special thing about Aubrey is the way this is portrayed, first we see an aloof and happy little Aubrey in the dreamworld and after that we see what see has become, a teenager full of hatred which hold little to no resemblance to her former old self, It's devasting to see and the fact that we don't what happened to her until a few minutes later only does but rise the player's interest in her character, moving on we have Basil, now in the past I've stated how he's the character in Omori that most deserved more screen time, but the times that he actually appear he really leaves an impact in the player, just like aubrey, we first see a much different version of Basil in Omori's mind and then we see the stuttering mess that Basil has become, the moments that Basil is on-screen alongside Sunny are definetly the most stressing moments of the game, not counting black space, but also the most unsettling, unlike Kel, Aubrey, and Hero, we don't actually know we he's so afraid of everything until the very end, where Sunny confront Basil about what happened and Basil's true fears show themselves in the manifestation of a something variant reminiscent of Mari's hair after she had fallen from the stairs, (Also there's Mari but there's not much to say about her, I feel like she's the most flat out of the cast, and the moments we actually see her acting somewhat mad are just optional, and yes I know It's because that's the way she's portrayed in Sunny's mind but you gotta admit she's nowhere as near as fleshed out as the rest of the characthers) Well now It's time to talk about Hero, he chosed to deal with the pain with sadness, after Mari died he fell into a long lasting depression that by the time Sunny leaves his house It's only a mere fragment of Hero's reserved personality, the thing about this is that this way of dealing with tragic events is used in media often and by comparison to the way everyone else dealt with the pain of Mari's death, Hero comes off as boring at first sigh, in addition he also has too little of screen time and only appears right at the end of the game, the mayor problem of this lies in how each character reached their respective cathartic point, for Sunny It was confronting the truth, for Basil was confronting Sunny, for Kel and Aubrey It was both the fight at the lake and the reconciliation in the treehouse, not only these moments represent how their old friendly rivalty has spiral into pure hatred for each other but It culminates with the problems that their respective methods of coping created, Kel's happiness blinded him for what was happening around him and made him be careless, something that would end up hurting people close to him, Aubrey's anger made him unable to think clearly and such she ended up fighting with, bullying and almost killing one of her childhood, best and quite possibly her only friend before she met Sunny and the rest, in fact this also applies for Sunny and Basil, Sunny's neutral actittude made him bottle up his true feelings until they exploded and took the manifestation of an idea called blackspace, Basil's fears made him unable to help his friends and It almost made him kill both him and what was once his best friend,(and Mari is just a mayor part of the plot of the game, even If she doesnt appear the impact she left on everyone else really makes an impact on the player and makes them feel bad for her) but the same does not apply to Hero, when he arrives he just saves Sunny and Basil from drowning and other than a few minor side quests, he just stays doing nothing until the end of the game, Hero's cathartic moment was his discussion with Kel were he lashes out to his brother and hurts him in one of the worst ways imaginable, an antithesis of the word hero, this is truly an impactful moment but not only is It optional but It also happens off screen, this is honestly the reason why I think Hero is one of the most underatted characters of Omori
I honestly agreed with most of your points, and this is admittedly a great analysis! Hero sure is unfortunately and ironically the least favorite character out of all the cast in the fandom due to the simplicity of his emotions or character one way of another yet that's all what makes it interesting together. I want to clear up that Kel wasn't blinded by happiness, maybe a part of it, it serves as a distraction while avoided associating himself with others in the friend group of fear of Making Things Worse, he doesn't want to repeat in what happened with Hero (that's why Aubrey mentioned that they haven't talked in 4 years), I'm sure that's a lesson learnt on both of them.
What a good video, I honestly think it was not enforced enough how Hero blamed himself for Mari's death, it is something that would really burden him for the rest of his life, even when accepting what happened he would still blame himself, but there's something else, Sunny's s story and Hero's is probably the most similar, Hero always blamed himself for Mari's death, similar to how Sunny did, although Sunny did kill her. Hero became Hikikomori not going to school or leaving house similar to Sunny letting others down etcetera etcetera, Hero almost feels like a way of under sunny better, I personally think Hero would forgive Sunny too, for a lot of reasons
hero is literally one of my favourite characters people be sleeping on him he's amazing. he's cute, smart, likes to cook and acts like a tired dad throughout headspace as he deals with his friends doing stupid things. also heromari supremacy
Y'all do be saying that it would take years for Hero to forgive them, but personaly i think he would forgive them in a few days. He understands Sunny and Basil very well, after all he was a hikkikomori himself and he is older/mature and probably more forgiving.
He's also blamed himself for his death ever since he found out, he's been so hard on himself thinking that he wasn't enough or thinking he should have done better, especially since he was her boyfriend. It took Sunny 4 years to forgive himself and build up courage to tell the truth to the others. I don't think Hero will be able to forgive Sunny in a matter of days.
I think it's that a majority of the fandom perceives Hero's grief as indefinite; however, ironically enough as the game portrays this, coping with grief is nuanced. Basically, since Hero's relationship with Mari was so close and he took a definite "hit" after her death, it's common to assume that he'd hold a grudge against Sunny. His"deep rooted" grief wouldn't inherently hinder his ability to forgive Sunny/Basil. I disagree with this statement, it's very out of character and I'd say very contradictory to the theme of Omori and what the game is presenting to us. hero isn't selfish and one to hold a grudge, in fact he's the opposite. I think he'd be the most understanding out of the 3 since he's already at the "tip" of acceptance instead of holding a grudge against Sunny, I believe he would spend time finding peace within himself
Hero is my favorite character in Omori. I kinda relate to him and I even have my birthday at the same day as him (1/1). Kinda agree that he's a little bit underrated and sometimes overshadowed by characters who have a great personality or story, such as Aubrey, Sunny and Basil. Or he isn't as funny and entertaining as Kel. He's just a regular "perfect" dude, and his grieving and story can be a little bit overshadowed by missing the Kel cemetery dialogue on Three days left. Yet... We've got to remember that he and Mari had a thing, a love interest. Knowing that the person you love hanged herself (without knowing the truth) would obviously end with him blaming himself for it and suffering from that. Hero is one of the most relatable characters in my opinion. Kinda agree that the fandom doesn't pay that much attention because of other characters who are also great. But in the end... I respect that nonetheless.
I know it is late, but... Happy birthday :)! I think you're right, but that doesn't mean that he should be that overshadowed. But I think it's alright, People shouldn't change their tastes, you just can't like or prefer one character suddenly or fake you do. Sorry for ranting.
I love this analysis because I also felt that Hero did not fully move on from his grief and only masked it to keep the ppl around him happy. Theres an animatic by Cinnavee called "Kel and Hero's Grief" that expands on the idea of Hero ignoring his grief and guilt
It makes me sad that Hero is overlooked by most of the fanbase. He is genuinely my favorite character and I felt so much pain for him. He really didn't deserve it.
I like him. He was my age when I first heard of Omori (19) and as an older brother I can relate to him. He isn't underrated, but he's definitely the most looked over among the main cast. Polly, on the other hand...
good video! I love Hero too he is so underrated. Even the small moments like when Kel and Aubrey rush to leave the tree house, Hero pauses to check on Sunny before leaving it shows how much he's always thinking of others
Everyone loves hero, but few ppl choose him as their favorite. I think this is bcs hero isnt that interesting. Now, I know that hero isnt a perfect human and even he has hidden emotions which makes him interesting and all. But the game never goes deep about that part, we never get to see Hero’s hidden emotions directly(some mari-related scenes doesnt count). Even with this, if he was in another fiction, I am sure he would be a fan favorite. But he is in Omori, so all of his traits are overshadowed by others. Depression? Basil overshadows him. Hidding emotions? Kel overshadows him. Angryness when his emotions exploded? Aubrey overshadows him. He stayed in his house for 1 year because of his feelings and still blames himself a little? Sunny overshadows him. All that is left is him being universally loved and being perfect, which is not too interesting. Of course some ppl still love his perfection and favorites him, but the majority doesnt
I think the aspect of Hero’s grief that *everyone* overlooks is the workaholic/academic route. After Hero is confronted by Kel and starts taking care of himself again, he is primarily doing schoolwork alongside self care. However, Hero has talked about being “too busy with college work” (which is fair enough considering he is trying to go into the medical field) but it’s to the point where he’s much less outgoing than he used to be. It’s totally possible that Hero tried to envelop his life with work to distract him from Mari, so he’s never really taken the time to confront his trauma and guilt. When it comes to academic success to seem perfect when you’re really not, none of the other characters in Omori overshadows Hero on that. Though I wish this aspect of Hero’s way of dealing with grief was explored more in the community or in the game.
@@FlorenceIsHavoc I still can’t believe Otomerson wrote both the Pursuit AU and “Kel Kicks Sunny’s Door Down”. Oto really has no limits as to what he can write with OMORI’s story.
He reminds me of a teacher I had. The kind to focus on each student and help them improve. The kind to tell us stories and giving us genuine feedback and advice... I miss him. A lot...
Hero is one of my favorite characters in the game, it’s very sad to see him not get as much recognition in the fanbase especially when he was Mari’s Partner!
The fan base does some comics or fanfiction. If they think that Hero doesn't like Sunny, my answer is that Hero really likes Sunny (Like not the romantic type) Which means he cares about Sunny because he knows Sunny has Hikikomori. So I noticed a scene where when Sunny woke up, was about to move house, when he went to the kitchen, Hero cooked Sunny a delicious meal (If he doesn't like or care about Sunny, he doesn't care. need to cook for Sunny and leave him to fend for himself.
Hero is my favorite character! He is such a great character and he deserves more love! He's been through a lot and I wish I could just give him some muffins
While Hero is not my favorite, He is a truly amazing character and I can relate to him in that way (Im not perfect of course ) but I'm not the number one chose of anyone I know too, but I always try to take care of them with all I can, even if they don't think I'm interesting or special
I don't think it was ever mentioned in the video but Hero is not his real name, it's just a nickname he got. It's not 100% confirmed, but in the files Hero is apparently referred to as Henry numerous times. I think it's really neat how they hide his real name in the game files. Also you could probably make some joke about Hero being Henry from FNAF with this information.
I imagine Hero would probably keep his distance from Sunny, to take time processing what he just heard, and then have a calm discussion with Sunny a few days later.
I know I'm really late but I personally think you wouldn't *fully* get Hero or Mari's characters if you aren't an older sibling. When you are the older sibling, you are put into a position that you HAVE to be the model kid. You have to look out for your younger siblings, have to take more responsibilities, and have to help your parents out if they need it anytime. Basically, you are forced to grow up more than compared to younger siblings. Anyways, Hero is really interesting, it may look like he is perfect but in reality he is just a huge pushover who is afraid to disappoint people. He constantly seeks for validation and wants to be the best brother he can be for Kel. However his and Kel's parents, while being the best out of the main cast, aren't exactly perfect either. Hero overall is a really emotional person, he just tries to hide it until it can't be hidden anymore and he suddenly blows up. With the pain of losing someone he really cared about and thinking Mari killed herself really fucked him up. Because all he could think about is her being gone and what he could have done to prevent it. He blames himself for not being for her. Speaking of Mari...like her, he is also a perfectionist. He wants to be perfect, he wants to help everyone in need, he is a people pleaser and has trouble saying no because he is afraid to disappoint people and afraid how the disappointed person would react. How his mom reacted when he was home late, saving someone from drowning, and wanting to stay at a friend's (who was moving away extremely soon) house was very guilt trippy, she knows how Hero is and she uses it to her advantage whether she realizes it or not. And the fact that Kel tends to be left out too because he isn't the "perfect" child really sucks as well. Hero really cares about Kel, he probably feels bad that he isn't getting a lot of attention compared to himself. I know that he worries about how Kel is feeling after Mari's death too, even if it doesn't look or sound like it at first. Cause that is what older siblings do, we really care about our younger ones and try to look out for them as well. And with the pressure of being perfect and dealing with grief, it can be unfortunately difficult at times. He is one of the realest characters in the cast and I believe me and many others also relate to him as well. Anyways sorry for this whole essay it's almost 7 am and I haven't slept yet.
I think eventually hero would understand that Mari would want him to forgive Sunny, since she loved Sunny so much. If he didn't understand that it would tear him apart.
At first I little bit don’t like Hero but when I realize that 4 year passed Hero still believe mari death because of him everyone change they personality but hero still the same it’s must hurt so bad

I think he'd be the most understanding out of the 3 since he's already at the "tip" of acceptance
instead of holding a grudge against Sunny, I believe he would spend time finding peace within himself

@@aubreyandkelfightingoverpi9738 Thank you! Happy (late) new year!
aubey, kel, hero, bebil through 4 years: **suffering**
omor: no sistur but got funni inhead rpg game lol
Polly, on the other hand...
polly deserves the world, honestly.
great analysis, I already knew Hero is a good character but this video provided more context and a better angle on him. Good work fede
Hero: I finally accepted Maris suicide and now I can without suffer about it
Sunny: About that…..
I’ve never had a crush on a fictional character as a aromantic, but, oh boy would I marry Hero :(((
i love hero from 2020 hit indie video game omori 😍🥰🥰🥰💗🥰😍😍💗🥰💗💗🥰💗💗😍💗🥰
Hero is ma best boi, no one can change ma mind
Edit: "after watching this video"
Thanks for this man, i love this analysis.
Good job
I really love how this is given a lot of thought. Thank you for this video!
I know the premiere hasn’t started but the video is probably going to be true, Hero is an amazing character.
i literally need a man like hero in my life i love him sm
HERO, MY BELOVED.
Of course some ppl still love his perfection and favorites him, but the majority doesnt
he wins depression
kel isnt hiding any emotions, the man just moved on
@@waffler-yz3gw there's like a whole theory on kel being like hero and hiding his emotions
Hero is the best you can’t change my mind
otomerson (pursuit author) explaining why Hero turns into the worst human being ever after the bad ending:
As much as I love the Pursuit AU, I will admit Oto did take a bit too many liberties with turning Hero into a villain lol
i read one of their fanfics but i cannot anymore
i teared up on some parts i read. they are truly a good authour to make me cry to angst.
I miss him. A lot...
Hero da 🐐 no 🧢
Wait, he's underrated?? Even the game appreciates him
But the fan base doesn't (as much as they should in my opinion 🙄)
I don't know why Hero is underrated? He's my favorite character in the game. It's hard to understand:VVV
hero is so good, people dont have much to say about him.
Hero is the character in omori that sparks the least amount of ideas.
I literally love him so much, I’m gonna buy his plushie too because :)
My favorite character! Yes. This gonna be an amazing video for sure
Hero truly is an amazing character one of my favorites in omori
Hero is one of my favorite characters in the game, it’s very sad to see him not get as much recognition in the fanbase especially when he was Mari’s Partner!
WOAH, I didn't expect this to be a video by Fede, keep making whatever makes you happy creating! :D
Hero: you never understand my pain sunny!
Sunny: *ok*
He's been through a lot and I wish I could just give him some muffins
came for the memes, stayed for the analyses (and the memes) thank you fede 😁👍
hero best of every omori character
Ayyyyyyyyy I'm universally loved.
This was a very great video!! i liked it a lot
also
*egg*
While Hero is not my favorite, He is a truly amazing character and I can relate to him in that way (Im not perfect of course ) but I'm not the number one chose of anyone I know too, but I always try to take care of them with all I can, even if they don't think I'm interesting or special
I love hero so much, he’s so relatable and I just like that about him
I don't think it was ever mentioned in the video but Hero is not his real name, it's just a nickname he got. It's not 100% confirmed, but in the files Hero is apparently referred to as Henry numerous times. I think it's really neat how they hide his real name in the game files. Also you could probably make some joke about Hero being Henry from FNAF with this information.
I’m really enjoying this kind of content and hope to see more like it
Now this is a great video
EHY I SAW THAT PIC-
(The time is at 9:12 btw :])
Hero is my favorite character in the entire game 🐐
hero my beloved
I remember I wanted to be like Hero ever since I got to know him better: selfless, charming and responsible; something I really lack sometimes.
Hero
owww thats is nice analysis for hero.....
im waiting for next character analysis, next kel plzz
Love the summary! Hero is my favorite OMORI character :3
FINALLY some Hero love!
2:12 “it’s been one year since I left that house”
As much as I like Kel, I have to say that Hero is a more interesting character
I love him so much, he’s so underrated. His trauma is very overlooked, and I just cannot deal with it. I love him. /r /srs (yes I am mari/srs)
Hold on, if your the real Mari how are you typing this comment?

I imagine Hero would probably keep his distance from Sunny, to take time processing what he just heard, and then have a calm discussion with Sunny a few days later.
Thank you for representing us Hero fans 💯👍
heros my comfort character i love him so much
Heroin my beloved🥺
Im sorry but I think we all know what my first thought was when i heard 1987 💀

I think eventually hero would understand that Mari would want him to forgive Sunny, since she loved Sunny so much. If he didn't understand that it would tear him apart.
