Thanks. First Viking in July. Hoping it will be great. I’ve just done some local cruises NZ/ australia and am surprised to find myself saying that I’m getting bored with cruising. So one month on Viking is a worry but I’m hoping all will be good. We are the lowest cabin category because they are a decent size … but know we are low on the pecking order for restaurants, excursions etc
I'm on the Homelands itinerary, but some of the ports of call overlap with this itinerary. For the Homelands itinerary, they have added a new excursion called The Viking Planet Experience in Oslo. It's a Viking museum, but it's the only museum of its kind in the world. I'm really intrigued, and hope I can get into this excursion. This museum has ZERO Viking artifacts. They took pictures of all of the artifacts from all of the museums, and put them on digital interactive boards. They have a hologram room where you can interact with Viking people, they have a 270 degree movie theater with Hollywood style movies being played, and they have virtual reality videos that you can take part in, as well as playing a virtual reality video game where you are actually taking part in a Viking raid. The information is approximately 98% factual. The difference is that you physically get to take part of learning about the history, instead of just walking through a museum and reading information on a plaque.
