Gold cameras are a thing believe it or not and in the golden age of photography there were quite a few of them.

I seem to recall that after the Nikon FA was awarded "camera of the year" around 1984, and hitting a company university, Nikon made 50 gold-plated FAs with lizard covering. These were distributed to company executives and business associates. They were never sold at retail, but one would periodically drift into eBay back in the 1980s and 90s. It came with a matching, gold-plated 50mm 1.4 Nikkor.
There are several on eBay right now!

Oh my god how did I not think of that?!
Didn't get my hands on a MF until the later 80s. Started with an AE1, A1, went to the F1. Also acquired a Nikon F2 and F3. All my manual focus SLRs still work great today.

There are actually a bunch of different golden Hasselblads (30th and 50th Anniversary) Probably the favourite of mine is the gold with blue leatherette 503CX 50th Anniversary (Gold and blue = Swedish flag).

I'm surprised you didn't mention the *totally genuine* 'Luftwaffe' 'Leica iii' gold cameras - refinished Zorkis or FEDs, in fact. I saw one in a Polish flea market last year.

I suspect that when there is a lack of technical innovation which they can offer, manufacturers resort to cosmetic changes and 'blingification' to try to prop up revenue. Titanium bodies make sense, gold does not.

Good god those are hideous! (I say this as a child of the 70s who grew up in a house with gold trim, gold carpets, gold curtains, gold lamps, and a gold car in the driveway. Still can't stand the colour 🤣)
I have the cheaper B35 normal camera it cost £29.95 I.e. under 30 quid still works fine and still has people saying it can't be 35mm Full Frame it is Too Small..

I agree that these cameras are just too impractical, their sole purpose is for a camera shop to display in their window to attract passers by.

The golden cameras in this video look rather ugly, imho. Gold for wedding rings is an entirely different matter, however, especially worn and dented ones.
See, not that's where we differ because I think gold wedding bands look dated and tacky. :P
No one is shooting a gold film camera, for pride and safety for oneself. These kilobuck display pieces are not practical. I doubt there's a demand for them nowadays.
