Very proud to say I met and hung out with Malcolm. Offered him a Marlboro, sat on a couch backstage and talked to him for 25 min. This was in 86’. And YES I do brag about it……it was Malcolm F’n Young.⚡️

The way he plays is unexplainable really. In almost every song he will play bits slightly different and most of the time you never even notice. Really listen to the isolated tracks and you can hear his magic.

@@Perko1775 Exactly. That rhythm pattern in the beginning of Thunderstruck showcases what Malcolm is about. He and his brother always said "the swing" is what makes great rock n roll. Just listen to how powerful that must have sounded with the bass and drums hammering away with him in a raw open setting up-close. Malcolm has this very clean but overdriven sound that feels like a freight train chugging down the tracks. The way he and his brother blend their slightly different parts together is magic. Everything about AC/DC is magic. It all clicked. They knew what they wanted to be and just kept getting better at it.
They blazed through the trends playing their hard hitting bluesy rock that got so heavy and aggressive at times that they were as close to being metal without being metal. I mean, Angus went as far as calling Van Halen a pop band, and compared to AC/DC they do sound like it. I could name a lot of bands that claim to be metal and they're nowhere near being as hard and aggressive as AC/DC. They are that one band where classic rock fans and headbangers both gravitate toward. You have Scott Ian and James Hetfield (two of metal's most acclaimed and fierce rhythm players) calling Malcolm the greatest of them all. When I first heard the opening 2 minutes of Thunderstruck as a 12 year old kid back in the day when it came on the radio it felt like someone shot me up with 100cc's of pure adrenaline. 30 years later I still get that same feeling.

I'm not a "tone is in the fingers" guy but the way Malcolm hits the strings is incredibly fun to listen to. I don't even like ACDC but I could listen to Malcolm's isolated tracks forever

The best rhythm guitarist ever period. And a really nice guy. I actually got to meet him, Angus the night before they played in Gothenburg in 2001 during the SUL tour. We stayed at the same hotel and even though they were on their way the took time to shake hand and take a picture, really nice guys all of them

Minimalist approach to chordplay and equipment, maximum attention to detail and rhythm. Malcolm was baddass.

This sounds great!, you can hear the precision, skill and tightness in The Late Malcolm Young’s playing, he was a perfectionist, and it showed in AC/DC’s perfect live performances.
    R.I.P. Malcolm Young.

Hell ain't a bad place to be? Hell is simply defined as the ABSENSE of God. Think about that for a minute, then realize that everything this man ever did was WITH the presence of God. Once God leaves the building, so does life - HE is the originator of it and it is his solely to give and take away, as He OWNS it. Tragic lie.
