I have an Apeks Flight regulator set, bought when they were first launched. I've used it all round the world and it's been pretty good although I have to say I prefer my best set, my Apeks XTX200 The pros with the Flight are the weight, it breaths really well and despite it's largely plastic construction it has been fairly hard wearing** The cons are that it does seem prone to free-flow, I have them serviced by an Apeks service centre every year and it's never changed despite talking to the service Tech. The construction, this is in the Pros, the **. In normal use the construction is fine however a couple of years ago they required a major repair after a cylinder got dropped on the primary second on a crowded boat coming back from a dive. I think a more conventional construction may not have been so easily damaged.
The 1st stage of the new DL4+ has 2 hp ports. Besides that is the xl4 an EPIC stage regulator. Small and Coldwater rated. Epic beautifully crafted regulator!
I like the "XL4", because there is less adapting that needs to be done in different environments. The weight really isn't that much of a problem, there is always that something extra that can be removed from your travel kit that will make up the difference without a lot of cost and changing set ups. The "Flight" is a very cool looking set of regs, but that is the only plus I can find in it. Underwater cosmetics aren't even notable, so my vote goes to the "XL4".
If you look at the exploded diagrams of the XL4 and the Flight... the second stages are completely identical on the inside. The only difference is the outer design elements and the hose connection.
okay great and all so how's the performance? I am losing interest in the features of these regulators, I can find the features online, I want to know how they perform.
Yes, the XL4+ is cold water kit, a modified DS4 1st stage over-balanced with heat exchanger, environmentally seale. The 2nd stage is a Flight with a new face plate, the innards and case are the same part numbers XL4 & Flight. Aka, thus a cost consensus Apeks, as much as there is one. XL4 white/grey with 2 HP ports. Great pony bottle reg., too.
would be more useful to compare with the XL4+ which is the latest version of XL4 with 2HP ports... I guess the only reason not to is that you may not sell the XL4+

Hi there, review Poseidon products please? Can't find any information about anything Poseidon on the internets. 😅
Same here iam really interested in the Mk3 but no real options on it

This is so true. Goes on about the weight, doesn't weigh them!
thank you for your video. It's important for me.
I use the XL4 on DST in German and Austrian Lakes and also in Croatia with Trimix and Nitrox.
Got xl4+ I like them. Nice and light but can use in UK too
Oh white primary and hose, and 2 hp ports

I thought the XL4 would replace the Flight...
💪 Dope
