Can I just take a moment to say how much work you have put into this tutorial. ❤ It’s all so clear and easy to follow, with many different styles to choose from. It makes me feel that I could do too, as you always say 😊 I’m also a seamstress of 50 years, but I learn something new from each of your videos. You have an unselfish way of transferring knowledge from you to us - it’s kindness in action! I say this because lots of videos about sewing are just waffle about personal problems and also constant repetition which gets tiring to watch, so your channel is refreshing and up to date, but with simple solutions and easy to follow instructions. Many thanks and blessings to you and your family. You’re a treasure ❤
This is such a good tutorial! I love the flutter sleeve and wanted to also learn how to create a crossover/ tulip sleeve. Your cap sleeve is great too.
I am new to sewing since September 2020 I picked it up again when my dear brother past away , it keeps me going. So I have made a couple of quilts, dresses curtains etc… I even made a beautiful princess costume for my 8 year old niece who is tall for her age lol . I love how you encourage us that if u can do it WE can do it and we can!! The pattern I used didn’t have the puffy big sleeves she wanted so I took an old shirt of mine cut the sleeves and did the slash and spread method until I was satisfied!!! It is fun learning and everything I have made isn’t beginner friendly either but I push myself to learn!!! Thank you so much for ur encouragement
This is a wonderful video and I’m saving it! Your lesson how to draft a basic sleeve was very good, too. Now I can draft all these types of sleeves or modify a sleeve piece of a garment pattern I already have. Getting closer to my dream of being able to mix and match various sleeves with various garments. Thank you! 😊😊
Exactly :) and there is a reference sheet on Google Drive for Members for this video and here's the Members Extra for it, too - ua-cam.com/video/gT3OnJFWTNE/v-deo.html
Your the best Alisa. My favourite is the flutter sleeve. It’s so pretty. Hope the weathers good there in Tennessee. It’s feeling like spring here and I’m loving it.
I love flutter sleeve too :) so easy and fun! It has been raining here for this past week, but daffodils are blooming! So great to hear that the weather is great on your side :)
Hi Alicia I want just to tell you thank you very much for your help I learned a lot with you and I improve my English in the same time , so please carry on with us , you are the best 🤗🤗
I bought the same tape lol. It doesn't stick at all on the Cricut paper, but it does well on regular paper. I'll use my leftover for my patterns! Thanks for the advice!
it is so funny that we think the same! yeah... it is not great for cardmaking, it unsticks too easily, but for this tissue paper or regular printer paper - it is ok :)
@@ThoughtfulCreativity when I saw you with that tape in the video my first thought was "omg, we could probably switch houses and not miss a single thing." Haha!
That is SO TRUE! I laughed so hard when I read your comment, it put a smile on my face. he he, isn't it funny that such coincidence even exists in the world?
Great video! I love your enthusiasm and simple easy to follow instructions. I've never tried a tulip sleeve so I like the idea of a muslin to see how it would look on me before using some nice fabric for it🌸
Your joyful way of teaching is just a gift to all of us. Thank you for sharing so much knowledge with contagious enthusiasm - I am a subscriber from Israel and I learn so much from you. Love your videos - the content is great and your personality and genuine joy makes it a pleasure to watch. Keep on going!
Excellent video, thank you so much! 🙏 I love playing around with sleeve patterns, it's a great way to change up a basic blouse or dress pattern to give it some extra interest.
Luvvvv this video I literally never knew how to make any of these sleeves. Especially the Bishop Sleeve..!! Seem like It'd be difficult to make. Such a great person & great channel. Thanks alot..!! 🙂🙂
You came in just right on time for my summer tops....I love, love, love it....I love them all, I love the Petal, Circle and the cap since I live in Florida. Thank you so very much....
I just need to suck it up, buttercup, and finally draft a sleeve and bodice sloper for wovens. I made a knit block from a sleeveless tunic top that I loved by tracing it, but I’m sick of fighting stretchy fabric for a while. I bought some georgette and a 1970s pattern for a dress that I can’t wait to start on! And yes, I’ll trace the pattern from the original so I don’t ruin it.
I'm watching your videos like breathing. You are soooo natural!!! I just love the way you explain and make all so easy. I'm still afraid of measures though, but i'll try by using one of my blouses as pattern. 😁 thanks for your channel!! 😍
Alisa, thank you for directing me back to this tutorial. It is exactly what I need to do to accomplish the sleeve I am looking for. 🤗🤗 I think I will try the circle sleeve and I perhaps will measure the length of the sleeve I am looking for and incorporate that into my circle. Not sure if it will work but I may do a test sleeve with a muslin first. I will keep you informed...
Love it! Sleeves are fun and maddening to work with. Especially if you get your right and lefts mixed up. The petal/puff sleeve combo is one I want to try. Tip: if you have droopy shoulders, a little puff gives the illusion of broadness.
Oh, great tip! Thank you so much! He he, I had that a few times, don't remember now if I did not transfer the notches or if it was something else, but yes - sleeves are fun :)
Thank you so much for this incredibly informative video. You make it look so easy! I love playing around with slashing and spreading and changing design details. It's a great way to get the most from your patterns!
Can you do a video for projects for hand sewers? I handsew frequently and need project ideas more tailored to hand sewing. I love your videos and you always give great tips and ides :)
Hi Alisa!! Your tutorials are amazing as expected.. I love the cap, flutter & tulip sleeves most of all.. For me these are light & airy.. Perfect timing for spring/summer makes…. 💜💜💜🧵🧵🧵
There is a link at the end of this video for exactly that, please watch again. And you can always go to my channel page and see countless videos on these and other sewing topics.
Hello there! You can make it on your own without a problem, just follow any of my tutorials for a top and cut away one shoulder and then adjust the length to be crop length, and that's it.
Ah I love the circle sleeve! I think I'm going to draft one for my baby shower dress. Would I need to consider anything differently if I made one in knit fabric? Thank you!
Samantha, hello there - for knit fabrics - just the drape and how you are going to hem it. Hemming a circular piece of fabric can be difficult. so I would cut a tiny little circle and try it first, or maybe you want to leave edges raw, or maybe you want to line it (sew 2 circles together at the outer edge, turn rights sides out, align at the inner circle and attach both layers to the armhole.
I miss watching your videos, started a new job. But I wanted to ask you if you can do a tutorial on simple nursing dress please please. I want to make one for my sister in law
Kisha, helllo there! Here is a Members Extra I just did for a wrap dress/top that would be great as a nursing top as well - ua-cam.com/video/pWwi4X8tpSk/v-deo.html
Tell me - which one did you like best?
I have to say that on me, the tylip sleeve is not a flattering thing, but I love the way that you taught it! I am always fond of a cap sleeve, too.
I like the tulip sleeve!
I like the butterfly sleeve🤗
Definitely the 🦋 sleeve it really looked so easy..!! But cute, modern & stylish.
I like the butterfly sleeve and the tulip💖💖❤❤👍👍👏👏👏
I love how you make everything so clear and easy. You take away all the intimidation out of pattern drafting!
Where have I seen you before??? You showed me how to make the neckline of my purchased t-top smaller.
@@mrgarner4796Haha, yup! That would be me!
Perfect timing! I recently purchased fabric for a flutter sleeve, and now I have instructions! Seamstress for 50 years; love your channel!
As usual, so much value jam packed into one video! You consistently over deliver! 😊
I loved the circle sleeve. Looks so easy, I think even I can do that. 😂
I really like that you mix and match bodice blocks and have the organized binders of the sleeves. Wow that makes everything seem so much simpler!!
You always blow my mind with your knowledge of pattern making and adjustments! You’re inspiring!
Can I just take a moment to say how much work you have put into this tutorial. ❤

Thank you so much! I truly hope that this is useful, a different sleeve can add a different vibe to a garment!
This is a great tutorial to help people understand how these sleeves are designed.
Great tips on sleeves! Appreciate all you're teaching us.
She's very good.
I love the circle sleeve

I can't wait to finish breakfast and go to the sewing room and experiment with sleeves. Thank you!
You can do it and have fun! :)
For me personally I love the puff sleeve, and the tulip. Thank you Alisa 🐾🥰

I just love the cross over tulip sleeve
Waited for this week's video. Thank you so much Alisa.
Hope you enjoyed it! It was a big project, that's why this week I am posting a little later!
Of course, all of your videos, again and again enjoying. Once again thank you so much.

I appreciate the way you explaine...Thank you!

Great video! I love your enthusiasm and simple easy to follow instructions. I've never tried a tulip sleeve so I like the idea of a muslin to see how it would look on me before using some nice fabric for it🌸
Muslin helps a lot, especially when we are just not sure how we want it or like. besides, for a little sleeve we don't need much muslin at all :)
The circle sleeve I like more

Fantastic. I looooove your tutorials. You are a masterful teacher. Thank you for all the wonderful, thoughtful instruction.
Love how you showed how to make all the sleeves and explained what you’d do differently in some cases. This is so good!
Flutter sleeves . Thank you for creating this.

Kisha hello there - congratulations on a new job! I hope it fulfill all your dreams and expectations! I will think about a nursing dress :)
Kisha, helllo there! Here is a Members Extra I just did for a wrap dress/top that would be great as a nursing top as well - ua-cam.com/video/pWwi4X8tpSk/v-deo.html
length of hose is good budget alternative to a flexi-curve
BOTH!
Love this tutorial! I just dont understand why sleeves twist in my projects
You probably either cut them 1)off grain or 2) your bodice block needs to be adjusted and so do the sleeves
how big was your circle?
Thanks so much for the tutorial
Look up Butterick B6757, how does one sew that style "cap sleeves?"
(This type of sleeve would go really well w/a shirred bodice type summer dress!)
You are good. I like the way you are teaching. Please slow down a little for me, thanks
Doris, hi! You can slow down the video in the UA-cam video player.
