He probably went to Belle’s home and that’s when Belle’s husband murdered Ethel’s husband. Maybe this happened within the 5 days leading up to the investigator reaching out. They both fled after he committed the murder which is what made the remains fresh in the basement.
i think people were shocked largely because they dint know, back during that time it was an open secret that both man and woman cheated but at the same time people couldn't openly show that you were cheating largely because back then you were supposed to be loyal to your wide or husband. A husband and wife could cheat on each other and both of them could know but have to act like a loyal happy couple in front of people.
The organs under the bricks were possibly Belle’s lover’s organs. Maybe Cee was onto something when she said it was possibly fresh. If Belle really went to America to visit family, her husband could have murdered Belle’s lover without her knowing and buried his remains in their basement. I looked into it, it was a scar not a birthmark. And the people who compared the dna reexamined that and said that the scar was falsely identified as being Belle’s.
