We were in UK in 2014, and took the train from Woking to Axminster, then the bus to Seaton and finally Beer, we visited Peco and the Beer Heights light railway. Had a meal at a pub , caught the bus to Weymouth and back from there on a 444 train to Woking. A great day out. I think both places would be a good place to live, and the summer tourist season should be taken into account. Where we live in NZ we have cruise ships visit about 40 to 50 times a year. The locals stay out of town on those days!
I stayed in Beer for 4 days in 2019 and loved it. The weather wasn't fabulous but that suited me just fine as it kept the hoards of tourists away. I walked the clifftop path over to Seaton a couple of times and enjoyed that. I did some fossil hunting, visited the Museum, rode the Seaton Tramway a couple of times and had a lovely relaxing break. Thank you for showcasing these two lovely towns in East Devon. ❤🇦🇺
Whats seaton like to live in as i am retiring i want to locate to devon as my sister lives down there i am from Newcastle want to leave Tyneside its not the place i knew snd geew up in
Hi Jimmy. We spent a few days in Seaton during the pandemic so it was very quiet when we were there. The town is a small pleasent place with a few pubs and local shops and a couple of town centre supermarkets. The promenade is fairly sedate with mainly residential buildings and a few cafes. On the whole Seaton is quite a compact, pleasent little seaside town and relatively flat in the town center. As l say, we were there during the pandemic so it might be a more upbeat place now things have opened up. We hope this helps.
