and actually most of the best Hwo players, play him without taking many risks at all. Some of them barely go into flamingo and instead rely on safe pokes and jfsr. One need only watch content from players like Yeonarang, Edge, Speedkicks, etc to notice this.
@@jared5200 it's cause whdn you know your characters flaws to a T, you become self Conscious about your character and don't push anything unnecessary.
I use Bob & Law. Both have trash range and tracking, so I tend to play passive, because any of moves can lead into being side stepped to the back.
People don't know those flaws, so they just sit still, but I don't take that risk, because I know how dumb it can be.
In conclusion: It's all in the head...
@@jared5200 that's also why top level Tekken is like 4 moves and spacing. All gimmicks have been neutralized at that point, and Hwoarang is stuck with subpar tools for playing straight. But he's definitely not alone there.

@@jamessummers5936 how do you even come to that conclusion bruh what. Characters like akuma/geese/djv all have objectively better tools than hwoarang. You cannot say “just learn the matchup” to an unseeable plus on block low launcher or a 12 frame ch high crushing launcher. With hwoarang much of the reason people struggle vs him is unfamiliarity with how to deal with his pressure. They don’t understand what to step, when they should use panic moves like crouch jab. In reality hwo has two good tools, jfsr which is average in comparison to other mid launchers and d34. No generic d4, df1 bad range, bad mids in flamingo. You understand what I mean now?
TLDR for anyone who doesn't watch the video, he said that he, knee and harada agree that hwo is f tier. Actually depressing. They also said that hwoarang players DESERVE buffs as hwo is so bad he is destroying their lives (as they need 20h/day practice to achieve green ranks). Also all of his moves basically suck and he has no tools, finally someone who sheds light on the tragedy of hwoarang players to try to make people understand, jdcr is the realest player in the game by far. He demoted to fighter (he didn't go lower because he has good fundamentals) to showcase this and bring people the true FACTS they deserve, incredible struggle, every matchup is 1/10, tragedy character.

Hwoarang is a very difficult character...I thought "woow I can do something him " and i got Eternal Ruler...only then did i understand how little I can do him and how much I don't understand him because everyone started hitting me XD ( I am aware that Hwoarang in lower ranks can quickly get you high but at some point… your character runs out and skills begin ). I still consider myself a Hwoarang main(Raijin) but I temporarily dropped him (until T8 release) to play Jack-7 and Armor King and I couldn’t believe at first that matches can be this much easier.
What was the change that made you feel easy with AK and Jack? You don't have to use super risky lows with AK and Jack? Also you don't have to use particularly high strings that gets ducked? Is it what's easier?
AK has great counter hit low and throw games. His escape move is awesome too.

Hwoarang isn't too bad if you don't look at him from the low risk, high reward mindset that most tournament players have. A simple Hwoarang sequence like d+3,4 into RFS d+4,3 is 51 damage total(if you can get your opponent to duck that's 100+ damage in all for mid launcher). Although following up right after d+3,4 makes it easy for higher level players but Hwoarang can delay his follow ups or flamingo stance switch to play mindgames(if you're scared to do that, I wouldn't play him long term). You may be scared of a hop kick when delaying follow ups on opponents but that's a huge commitment on your opponent's end if you look at flamingo's design. A RFS jab(even after a delay) is a huge threat to a hopkick because the possibility to float the hopkick. It's real complex to make Hwoarang work, Asellas's Hwoarang is the best example of using Hwoarang's delays/stance switching to play mind games.

He is extremely vulnerable in Flamengo stance. Please try crouching. Most of his moves will miss
I think people hate Hworrang, not just because of the matchup, but people tend to hate rushdown characters and call them spammers/button mashers even though that's what they're designed to do. People hate Nina and Anna for similar reasons, meanwhile DLC exists to be better and easier in every way possible. The only way to understand is to play those characters before you judge too harshly... except DLC... feel free to hate, I know I do.
I don’t think Hwo is the worst in the game but he is definitely a fair character. As a Chloe main I feel bad stealing matches from Hworangs cuz I Cali Roll under his mid when I’m at -6 or something. Must feel bad :/

I have many high rank character and never played hwo... tried hwo for teo days and got tekken God easy but i can see what you mean...most if my wins was because i either risked it all and got lucky or because5the opponent didn't know the matchup...

Quick question, why are you not using wave dash with hwoarang like JDCR does?
He has strong mids after wave dash but only lows that he can use after wave dash is generic ones. JDCR is mostly using it on people with weak defence and knowledge. Kwiss doesn't use it cuz he knows knowledgeable people won't duck his wave dash cuz there is no real reason to.
As I said, lows after his wave dash are weak. Knowing that, people won't duck.
This just shows why tekken is one of the best fighting games just because of how accurate Tae Kwon Do is depicted here. You have to be the Jesus of TKD to be able to actually use it in a real situation, and playing hwoarang is the same. Like just learning a spammable pattern with this character takes a lot. All for niggas to still call you trash in the end

Stop downplaying. Hwo has good range, high damage and crazy wall carry. He's a strong character, always has been. Maybe if you used different moves to open your opponent up, you would see better results. He also has some of the best counter hit moves in the entire game. I hate videos like this. Hwo is a strong ass character dude... Smh. I've never practiced with hwo in over 15 years of playing Tekken but get wins easier than when playing with my main.( Kaz but now Lars cause fuck it)

@@AshishAroraa okay maybe I put that that the wrong way what I really meant to say I win 60% of my matches against hwo now because at least the ones I go against in blue ranks raijin etc they are way to aggressive and I basically use characters who strive at counter hits and catch them most of the time
@@AshishAroraa basically the only characters I don’t play with are the bears but my law is a tekken king and I win most matches against hwo but I can say I don’t get that many hwos at that level but my Bryan gets a lot being a raijin

When I first started Tekken in 2020, I thought Hwoarang was the most annoying character with the d3 pressure. But now, I understand how easy it is to deal with his D3 pressure now. I'm currently Emperor, I think I can go further if I keep practicing. :)
