F A N T A S T I C ! ! ! Great story line and filming. Always nice to watch a story unfold instead of a report on the weather and play-by-play. Thank YOU! I subscribed. Looking forward to watching more of your work.
Wow this is such an encouraging comment! Thank you so very much! I'm trying to get better at filming in such a way that it tells a story... Its a struggle sometimes when you have to focus on working hard or finishing a task, yet I know the end result will be worth it. I'm so glad you enjoyed this, and thank you so very very much for the subscription! All the best to you!
Nothing quite says you’re on a backcountry trip like catching and eating your food. As a change up, and to save the trouble of packing fry pan and oil, try this sometime. Don’t take the skin off the filets. Select one of the rocks for your fire to have a relatively flat surface. Wash off that surface. Now place it so the flat surface sits 45 degrees and not in, but close to the flame. Just lay your filets on the rock. They will cook wonderfully without burning. The skin may stick to the rock if it was hot but that’s OK. The filets will lift right off. I stopped carrying a fry pan long ago. Nice trip, nice film. Very pleasant and good storytelling. Keep it up!
This sounds like an awesome idea! May be a bit of a learning curve but it sounds like it would be worth it. It was such an edifying experience to catch, fillet, and eat my first Laker. I'm planning a trip to Algoma region in May and I'll be chasing Lakers and Brookies, hopefully lots more of these meals to come. Again, thanks so much for the suggestions, and for your kind words, I really appreciate that you took the time to comment. All the best to you!
Hey Chris! Thank you so much for commenting in such a kind way.. I put a lot of thought and time into the narration so I'm very grateful that you enjoyed it!
Late to the party on this one but subbed. I also stayed on that site on Wolf Lake, just amazing. Looking forward to seeing more content as this looks like a great trip.
Hey there thanks for checking this one out! That site on Wolf is just gorgeous, I love that lake and hope to repeat the route one day. Thanks so much for subscribing, happy to have you along! All the best to you!
Really enjoyed this. Excellent filming and story telling. The Bugs would have spoiled it for me - but it would have made funny filming showing how angry I got at them..... I usually only do one overnighter so 8 days alone is insanely amazing. Nice shot of the birds surfacing in the water a small detail but shows the effort you are making with your filming. Like the side ways on talking to the camera. I am learning a lot too from your work thank you Tom
Again Tom thank you so much! The bugs were horrendous this whole trip but as soon as I was driving home, all I wanted to do was get back out there. I'm glad you notice and can appreciate the smaller details of filming, I'm trying to show my experiences in a new and different way as I feel many canoe trip videos all look identical. I look forward to seeing a lot more of your work and gaining more inspiration from how you film your amazing (and windy!) wild camps.
What an awesome idea. I am off next week and thinking of doing some solo camping. Your videos style has changed a bit and I'm loving it. Keep it up Pete!
Hey thanks for the feedback Andrew! My style has for sure changed, thanks for noticing! I'm trying to film more of a story or film style now, but I still have a TON to learn. You should take on some solo camping for sure, and make some epic videos!
This is hugely popular route that is a favourite among many canoeists. Glad you got the chance to experience it. There is also many extensions from that route as well, if you ever want to go back. Thanks for sharing. Nice work. Look forward to part 2.
I'm so thankful that I have experienced this route as well, and that I never saw another camper the entire time! I learned such a great deal on this trip, and I will absolutely be returning and extending it to further spots. I see you have travelled some amazing routes, and I'll absolutely be checking out your videos in the coming days 👍👍
Wow, I just came across your channel after seeing your comment on tPP's latest video... glad I did! I'm looking forward to seeing your backlog, especially if they're as well produced as this video. I also love your calm narration over the beautiful imagery. Just sub'd, of course :)
Hey Amy, wow thank you so much for that encouragement! I appreciate that you mentioned the narration! I really enjoy this style and plan on filming and editing most of my videos in this style going forward. As for my backlog, my first attempt at this style was "The Call of the River", but before that, I was still really just figuring things out and I wouldn't say that they are up to the level of the Temagami series. But hey, we're always learning and growing, and I enjoy looking back on some older videos and seeing how much I've learned (and still continuing to learn). I'm so happy that you enjoyed this, and thanks so much for subscribing and taking the time to comment! Cheers!!
Thanks Derek! I loved the route, I've since learned just how popular it actually is. If you go, fall would be an awesome idea. And hey, not near as many bugs! You'll love it there, absolutely beautiful area!
Beautiful! You don't use a PFD or life jacket? Even solo. And tell us what you are eating! (besides the delicious looking fish) I grew up in Minnesota, canoeing up north. I remember those bugs!
Hey Karen, thanks so much! I didn't use the PFD much on this trip except during the big water crossings in the high winds (which some of those times were off camera). I have become more personally convicted on the use of a PFD since this temagami trip, and in future videos you'll see me using one much more frequently👍 Youve experienced these maddening bugs to eh...not pleasant at all! But hey it kept the crowds away haha!
Really enjoying this. Pumped to get out this way... maybe not in June though lol. I do like how you’ve edited this, you’ve done a great job. Definitely see some BAO inspiration, Jon should take some notes
Wow, thank you so much! Very high praise to even be mentioned alongside Jon. No doubt, his amazing work has inspired me. I am trying to film and edit these videos in a way that it tells a story, so I'm really happy that you've enjoyed them! Cheers my friend!
Glad you enjoyed this Dan! Other than the bugnet I use some spray (which only lasts a short time). The best protection is the net, long sleeves and pants, and gloves. Cover all the skin for sure.

Nice narrative line, simple and authentic. Looking forward to Part 2. Cheers from Toronto.
Thank you so much David, your comment helps me know that how I'm approaching narratives is having the effect I'm looking for. Cheers from Sarnia
What a perfect dinner and evening!
Indeed it was, and bug free lol!!
Such a great display of cinematography from one of Ontario's best "up and coming" outdoor enthusiasts
Such kind words, thank you brother!
Great start to the trip, looking forward to part 2.
That's great to hear, I hope you enjoy it!

Inner peace is the way !!🙌❤
No better way for me to feel at peace than being out in the beauty of nature! Thanks for watching and commenting my friend!
Thanks for describing which campsites you are on. Super helpful.
You're welcome, thanks for mentioning that so I can remember to keep doing that in the future!
What an amazing video Pete!! I can't wait for part two!! You are very gifted in video work. Please keep it up!
Thank you so much! It's certainly been a journey of learning and I'm just loving it all. Thanks for checking out my videos!
Very well done...

Didn't disappoint! Great video and I am excited to see the latter parts
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the support!
Nicely done, I see we ( the North) provided enough bugs for you 😂. That cabin was a cool find too. Thanks brother!
Oh yah Doug, I donated my fair share of blood to the northern insects! Thanks for stopping by!
Great stuff Pete, great stuff 👌
Thanks so much Marc! I see you've got a new one up, I'll for sure be checking that out. Cheers my friend!
Really enjoying your videos! 🙂
Thank you so much for the support David! 🍻

I absolutely love the section between 9:07 and 10:05 about Solitude. I have travelled alot alone and this hits home. Are they your own words?
Thank you so much! Yes, my own words. I enjoy writing small pieces like that, I'm so happy that it resonated with you!

This area is on my bucket list. I’m not good solo though, and the bugs would kill me. So maybe Fall time with a friend. Great job!

Great video. Just curious about your saw? Make and model please.
Hey Chris, the saw is the Agawa Canyon Boreal 21. Highly recommended it👍
Excellent job...what month did this trip take place?
Thank you so much Tim! This trip was early June, right after camping opened back up in Ontario. Cheers!
I would love to move to Canada in a cabin, my days are done with canoeing surviving on SSDI
I often dream of moving way up into northern Ontario and living off grid in a remote wilderness cabin myself 👍
The worst part of the north in the early part of the year...the bugs. Windy spots do the trick though.
Oh yah!! But as bad as they were, I'd do it again just because I was the only one out there. Love that kind of solitude 👍 Cheers! 🍻
Enjoying the video! What do use for bugs? Besides headset? I’m in AK. Do you use Thermacell or deet? Any kind of bug spray?
Glad you enjoyed this Dan! Other than the bugnet I use some spray (which only lasts a short time). The best protection is the net, long sleeves and pants, and gloves. Cover all the skin for sure.
Di they not have OFF bug repellant in Canada?
Yes we have that here. During the peak hatch it only works for a short time before constantly needing to be reapplied. Cheers🍻
No way, you're a Sarnia guy?
Yup!
@@LatitudesWildernessFilms Nice! I recently discovered your channel… just catching up on your videos. I'm a Sarnia guy too
@@tcressman right on 👍I appreciate the support 🙏
check out Zoleo for communications
Thank for the recommendation! I actually ended up getting a Garmin Inreach mini after this trip 👍
BUY A ZOLEO
Hey Wayne, I ended up buying a Garmin Inreach mini after this trip and I've used it to communicate as needed. It works great!
Not a canoe question. Are u a dentist by chance?
Haha nope! What makes you ask that?
Get a garmin inreach and u can text your wife.
That's the first thing I bought after this trip, an inreach mini. This trip made me realize just how much I needed one.
Can't watch a guy wearing gloves and a bug hat ......
Sorry, if I'd have only known you would've preferred to watch me be eaten alive, I totally would've done that for you.
