I think you first must get your bearings. Do in Rome as the Romans do. I think getting the feel for what your Preceptor wants to see from you is important. Be willing to do and try anything they ask. A lot can be learned by observation, asking questions and then by doing. I will start my hours at the end of this month. I feel fortunate in that I do not feel the pressure or stress I believe the average student would. I am not in it to gain employment. I am in it simply to learn so that I am qualified to properly take care of my own daughter. When you feel the additional pressure on your shoulders of needing that job, I think the stress can effect you greatly. Fortunately, they are in great need of PSW’s so if you are unable to gain employment where you train, take what you’ve learned and apply elsewhere. You will get hired. Wishing all those well, who work so hard and are making this journey.
Needing a job and doing a job just to collect pay cheques can definitely add stress where as stress can be greatly reduced and well handled, if you really love the job that you are doing with good motivation/intention and with compassionate heart, it can be of great benefit mentally/emotionally/spiritually for yourself and your clients as well.🙏
Good job. Most of my friends in America here are care givers and they are very serious with their job exactly as you said. Keep helping people. Think you can help my wife in Ontario. How do i contact you.
Your experience in Philippines means ZERO here in Canada, I've seen Iranian and Colombian engineers and doctors working as janitors. My wife is a fully registered nurse in her country and she had to start from zero here in Canada. You will have to take the canadian PSW course for 1 year in a college.
