  • Motorcycle Around The World
TeapotOne is the story of Bruce Smart's epic 74,000 miles, 54 countries in 442 days, solo & unsupported motorcycle around the world, to keep a promise.
From 1st October 2012 to 14th June 2014, Bruce Smart rode a Suzuki GSX-R1000 74,000 miles around the world, solo and unsupported, through 54 countries to keep a promise he made his mum before she lost her battle with cancer. There were ups, there were downs, highs and lows, but one aspect shone through, the overwhelming friendship and support shown from almost everybody he met around the world.
From Europe to South East Asia, Russia to Australasia, South America to the USA and Canada, almost everybody he met opened their lives and homes to a complete stranger, and the journey grew and grew.
The entire RTW adventure was caught on film, from issues with motorcycle shipping, to the most dangerous road travelled, this travel blog, or travel vlog, is a documentary you just can't miss.
The 1st Episode in the TeapotOne series, this covers from the initial planning stages right through to just before I left on this 18 month, 100,000 mile, 83 country, around the world, solo motorcycle ride for charity.
Episode 2 will be online shortly and features the first 3 weeks on the road, all around Europe and down to Gibrlatar, before I venture across into Africa.
The book is now available via amazon at:
    www.amazon.co.uk/Live-Your-Li...
The DVD is currently under construction and will be available at www.teapotone.com
Any questions please just drop me a line.

I can't get used to your unbearded baby face! 🤪
My missus is from Essex. I've heard how handy those boys are with a knife. 🤣
The survival training reminded me of Ewan and Charley before their RTW trip.
Very inspirational going back to see where it all started. Your mum's words inspire me through you every time I listen to your podcast. I'm sure she'd be very proud mate. My dad said a similar thing to me before he passed and I think about that regularly. ❤

I’m so glad I found this. I’ve crossed many many borders on small motorcycles that look like the kind of bikes they use locally and thus do not stand out, China and Vietnam stand out as being more difficult, I’ve found the 6am approach to work well at land borders and act like it the most normal thing in the world and keep smiling. If things get tricky a packet of cigarettes can make a world of difference. However, on a sport bike with sponsor stickers and a white leather outfit that approach will never work. A great video is the Australia lad who went to UK on his Honda C70 from Australia with no real planning and a suck it and see approach..

Hi Bruce, just wanted to send a quick note to thank you for taking the time to make, edit and post your videos...I started out watching your Africa videos and then your UK videos and have now come all the way back to the beginning to see where you started out on your journey as a Moto Vlogger. I’m 52 and just got back into biking after about a 30year layoff...I bought a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 as my “beginner” bike and have enjoyed it thoroughly this past summer. Having watched your Videos (And Itchy Boots) you’ve inspired me and I’ve now got the urge to do some longer touring and have bought an older BMW R1150RT to do just that. I’ll be getting my new to me bike into ship shape over the long Canadian Winter and plan on doing some Epic rides come Spring. Thanks Again!

Tip: when you're lighting a fire with a steel, hold the knife steady (close to the tinder) and then pull the steel sharply back towards you (whereas you were holding the steel steady and then pushing the knife towards the tinder, which is guaranteed to have the tinder flying all over the place).

hats off to you sir. I'm ashamed to say that i have only just discovered your channel and the amazing trip that you have been on. having been a biker for many years i thought i would of heard about what you had planned before now. it popped up on my face book feed last week.since then i have watched all your videos. Myself and a mate have done a few trips around Europe about 3000 miles for each one but yours is on another level. We were doing similar Miles per day ,about 500. which brings me to one question that id like to ask, my arse was so sore after 1 week how hell did you manage for over a year?Absolutely amazing, what a trip. I love the last video about how you packed your kit. There really is nack to it isn't there lol. lots of trial and error we found.Fantastic good causes as well. Where can i go to donate some money. are you planning another one?

      +Adrian Coveney Hi Adrian,
Thanks very much for your kind message, I'm chuffed you've enjoyed the vids.
Ha Ha, yeah well I have quite a bit of my own padding around the arse area! Seriously though, I've never really had any comfort issues on a Gixxer, it was all I'd ever known so it was normal for me. I'd also always done a lot of miles, riding 7 days a week and about 35-40,000 miles a year, so being on the bike every day was nothing new to me.
You can't actually donate via my website any more, but proceeds from the books/DVD go to the charities, so feel free to get any of them. Only the hard copy of the book is available at the mo, I'm currently working on the ebook and the DVD will be ready for Crimbo.
      Cheers for now,
      Bruce

No the DVD is a completely new edit. I didn't want it to just be the UA-cam vids shortened down.
I use FCPX for editing, self taught off UA-cam vids.

i have been watching your RTW vids over and over but i cant help but imagine that how you got so many visas at the same time because as far as i know there is a validity date for every visas and if you miss one of them or some because of the trip how did you manage to get so long visas validity . Like for Russia they give on 10 - 12 months validity for a business visa and since I have been planning a such trip of my own i cant under stand how you got the visas at the correct time. I really admire you sir , you inspired me , this journey is like a dream come true for me also .Please help me on this one sir. i have planned the routes and in this routes Russia comes after america both north and south and ha;f of Asia , i want to take the trip slow and according to estimations the trip will take me at least 12- 16 months within which time limit the Russian visa will expire . Please sir help me on this one.

      Hi Sam,
Thanks very much for your kind words my friend. Yes visas can be complicated. I used a company called travcour.com to help with mine.
Drop them a line and I’m sure they’ll point you in the right direction.
Don’t lose heart, once you are on your journey you will find many people who didn’t organise a single visa before they left home, they just sort it out along the way.
Best of luck and I look forward to following your adventure sometime soon 👍

How did you find the best way to get sponsors etc to make your trip possible? Its also been a dream of mine BUT I am struggling to fund it myself.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  3 роки тому +1

I didn’t get financial sponsorship apart from ‘Delta Energy’ - and that was after I’d started the trip.
Companies are keen to donate kit etc, but I found it very hard as someone who was unknown and with no tangible track record in the industry, to get any financial backing.
I’d suggest you fund it yourself and not rely on external funding.
I sold everything I owned, Max’d out 5 credit cards, remortgaged, and worked my arse off for 3 years doing every single bit of overtime I could.

Just curious why it was difficult to get your carnet.
And why do you need two passports

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  5 років тому

At the time I was planning the trip the RAC where the only ones who
Could issue a carnet in the U.K. and they changed the rules right at the point I applied. It went from me only needing a couple of grand as surety to requiring a down payment of over £80K!
Thankfully after much pleading they agreed to abide by the initial conditions and let me pay a surety of about £2.5K
The passport issue is for a few reasons. Firstly when you check into some hotels they keep your passport until you check out, but you need your passport when applying for visas at embassies and consulates, so you are allowed multiple passports to allow for this.
Secondly there are some countries which will not allow you entry if you have certain other countries stamped in your passport, so you use different passports to get around this (unofficially 😉)
