Im really happy my comments helped, I have honestly tried to dissect the form and rewatched the final battle of the movie so many times to craft my headcanon so Im glad it was helpful
When you mentioned Meiko Mochizuki Digivice being used to turn Omnimon to its merciful mode despite not being partnered to any of the component Digimon. This would've been when Magndramon had her new tail that was from the result of being fused together with Meicrackmon. So in essence, she had a connection.
I think Agumon bond of Courage and Gabumon bond of Friendship forms are as powerful as Omegamon, or at least close to him, but they attacked at once, and also had a buff from their partners. It’s true, the fusion is meant to be stronger, but Omegamon is Wargreymon and Metalgarurumons fusion, not these new forms. Most likely, if Agumon and Gabumon Bond fuse, the result would be Omegamon Merciful Mode, who is more powerful. Think of Agumon and Gabumon Bond forms as Kaisergreymon and Magnagarurumon, above Mega, just as Omegamon Merciful Mode is at Susanoomon Level.
Honestly, I don't dislike the bond-forms, really, but there are just a few things about them that make me feel like they fall short of what they could've been. Most of all, even more so than the ones from Tamers, Agumon Bond of Courage and Gabumon Bond of Friendship just feel like they should've been Tamer-digivolutions, fusions with Tai and Matt, instead of just coming about somehow with the old digivice for no disclosed reason. Aside from that, I don't even mind it primarily looking like a Greymon too much considering how deeply entwined with the Greymon-species Agumon is, to the point where the Greymon-family is Agumons primary evolution-line and most Greymons evolve from an Agumon, the complete lack of Agumon-features is still kind of a problem, imo, although tbf Agumon doesn't have many features that stand out compared to Gabumon, although Gabumons features also feel a bit left out in its bond-form compared to its Garurumon-aspects. In the end, I feel like you might be able to assume that they went with these names in order to stay in line with the lore that WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon are supposedly the "ultimate, final forms" of their families. In general, part of my problem with them is probably more so tied the movies premise and narrative not fitting into Adventures lore, like, I don't think there's anything implying that Digimon in the world of Adventure are tied to the "potential of human children", and feels like a superficial look at how 02 introduced that there were many more children with Digimon (forgetting that at the end, we also had at least one adult with a partner, and of course the ending-scene itself showing all of them as adults with their partners), just to shoehorn a narrative that they knew would resonate well with the generation that grew up with Adventure.
It's really awesome to see a channel like this, that delves so deep into the lore of Digimon. I can only name a few channels that actively do Digimon content, such as this channel, Karn EX, Zerodex, Digimon central and a few more. It's a shame really, since Digimon is quite and expansive series. Thank you for the great content. Also, I was wondering if you could do a video on Jupitermon or Plutomon.
They did change the overall love for just 2 digimon in the Digimon Adventure 2020 by giving every partner digimon their Mega Evolution something we never got from the original series.
for me personally, i like the concept of digimon achieving a higher state thanks to their bond with their partner. at its core, the entire digidestined concept follows these rules, with the 'bond forms' just taking this idea to its extreme. unfortunately, i REALLY dont like either of the forms appearance wise. Also, though this is only tangentially related, im not a fan of the whole idea of digidestined losing their status as soon as they become adults. i feel like this spits in the face of the very spirit of the franchise. Joe even has a character arc in Tri that specifically struggles with this concept, but overcomes it. but according to Kizuna, adults can't maintain a bond with their partner digimon because they have to go do adult things now? not only have we seen adult tamers in the franchise before, making this a plot-hole, but we've also seen adults who lost their partners and mourn the loss. thats the entire plot of Kizuna to begin with! so obviously, adults CAN still have a love for their partners WELL past some arbitrary age limit. on top of that, this idea implies that rather then partners, digimon are merely toys and so its natural for the human children to grow out of it and abandon their childish toys. so, what is Kizuna trying to tell us? are digimon beloved partners or childish toys? are adults able to hold on to the love they had as children, or are adults incapable of loving the things they love as children? On a meta stand-point, this movie puts out an AWFUL message that only kids can love Digimon and if you are an adult then the franchise isn't for you. i have no idea honestly why anyone in the team thought this age time limit concept was a good idea, but i personally hate it. Also, last point, they clearly borrowed a LOT of season 3's concepts for both Tri and Kizuna. can we PLEASE see a sequel to season 3, with the cast maybe 10 years in the future, all grown up and getting to reunite with their partners? the OG writer wanted to do that and i for one would love to see that
Not only have we seen adult tamers in this franchise, but even more specifically in the setting of Adventure, with Oikawas partner Pipimon still being around despite him being an adult at the time of 02. It also contradicts how the growth of the Digimon is directly related to the emotional growth of their partner, them "becoming an adult", now that I think about it, like, the Digimon grow alongside their partners, so why does the partners growing too much exactly mean they can't have a Digimon-partner anymore? Either way, that entire narrative is just incredibly shoehorned in because I assume they thought it would resonate well with a large part of the audience that has been following since the original, disregarding just how much it fits into the setting, but as you pointed out, it's somehow really counterproductive since the way they presented it they really did just say to their most loyal audience to... just move on from the franchise. Looking at all this, I'm really suprised how the movie has such high ratings, even with the Adventure-nostalgia and the great animation carrying it.
@@Justic_ The whole movie is just telling adults to move on from the franchise. That's it. Scumbag boomers telling longtime fans to "grow up" is insulting. You can have an adult digidestined as was shown at least twice in the franchise.
In my opinion, it would have been better if agumon bond of courage had been a biofusion of sorts between agumon and Tai and powered by the data of the children who were captured similar to how omnimon first appeared in the first digimon movie. Think of it like agumon burst mode but a form more related to the bond with agumon and its partner, Tai and the crest of courage only in this case, the spirit of Tai would be there vs Tai physically of agumon's shoulder.
HOLY!!! I was left stunned and breathless when I heard my name called out!!! I did not expect to see my comment in a video!!!! I will say, after this video I do hold less distaste for the forms. I do not outright hate it anymore, but I am still not a fan of the name or the design especially for Agumon. But I appreciate what the concept was going for in terms of being a Limit-Breaker, which is one of my favorite concepts in fiction. Personally I would like to see the other mons get such a form, BUT not used in anime or movie, but just in games. One final confession, I have not watched Kizuna... I bought the movie when the DvD was released (to support one of my favorite franchises) but it's still wrapped in plastic. Between the hatred I originally held for the Bond forms and the end contradicting with Adventure 02, I just haven't brought myself to watch it. I don't hate the forms anymore, but the ending still bugs me and I don't know if I'll watch it yet.
Hey, I dislike the ending too. But there are some concepts from the movie that I like, mainly the memory islands in Never World. And personally I'd have the golden ring countdown appear when a Digimon's partner passes away. It's a reference to 02's ending (the death of a major villain after the final battle).
I hate Last Evolution. Intentional or not, it made this weird comparison between people who like Digimon as an adult versus people who stopped liking it after they grew up as "the psycho with Peter Pan Syndrome" and "the sane person who stops watching cartoons because they grew up". My dad has liked Spider-Man since he was 9 years old but Spider-Man has never interfered with his ability to be an adult. Hell, some of my best memories are both of my parents sitting down and watching cartoons with us kids the rare times my dad had a day off from work! Last Evolution Kizuna, for me, was very bittersweet not because of the sadness involved but because of how ham-fisted and unrealistic the apparent message felt even if it wasn't what they were actually trying to say. I mean, we already know that the Digimon don't disappear forever because we have the epilogue from 02! Once I realize what the plot was, I found myself finding it hard to get invested in the rest of the film because I already knew that Agumon and Gabumon weren't going to disappear forever. That's what Digimon Adventure Tri did well. They introduced all new characters that we could fear for, Meiko, Meiccoomon, Nishijima, Himekawa, and the ending was sad because they explained that Meiccoomon couldn't reincarnate because of how she died. And then Last Evolution decided to completely contradict that by having Child Meiko and Meiccoomon Frozen in time in Never World anyway! That's plot inconsistency, as is Evil Gennai somehow being good now and not explaining it. The movie absolutely had its merits, but the demerits far outweigh them.
Gennai turning evil and then good again in general wasn't properly explained but they at least explained how he turned evil, how did he turn good again??
It’s possible that there planning to do what they did in tri by having two characters being the focus of each movie but there no way to know till more movies come out. Personally tho I really like the designs of the bonds forms and how they seem to be taking the best parts of of its prior evolutionary forms to make something completely new
Technically none of the original 7 digimon reached their Rookie form naturally as it was also aided by the digivice even if they didnt show the complete animation they show the digivice react to their partners in their battle with Kuwagamon in episode 1, so by that logic it should actually be Koromom Bonds of Courage lol And also we later see the flashback with Gennai preparing the digieggs and digivices before Piedmon's attack, by then there already chosen, as just as egg, so each Digidestined is bonded to the whole line not just the default state Also also, don't really think that just because they evolve with a digivice they keep their Rookie personality, Gabumon is always calm and peacefull but all the Garurumons are very aggressive same for others like Patamon/Angemon
Knowing what I know that that kind of evolution is a bit of a risk no. I don't want to see the others go through that either. I cried when Agumon and Gabumon just disappeared like that and if I did see it with Tenomon or Piyomon or any of the others then that mental count down starts.
It's just a joke Digimon really. They never bothered to give it a formal champion form or anything. Which is a shame because a toy greymon would be funny. After that? IDK maybe he evolves from lego toys to magnetic toys and becomes MagneGreymon? As for mega maybe he's be like a detailed model? and Since Gundamn models in Japan are apparently called Gunpla .... maybe GunplaGreymon? he'd basically be like a wargreymon Gundam but obviously the toy kind and not a real mecha. Or alternately just make normal Agumon's line with toy slapped into it. But I prefer the idea of getting more creative with the toy evolution line.
