Used to commute between Gravenhurst and Orillia for my job as RN my husband was OPP out of Bracebridge, mainly Gravenhurst. I had gnarly drives. But never was the highway closed.
if any are there they wouldnt last all this time and maybe longer. and id guess some even had low fuel , i cant imagine being stuck in that mess with kids in the car
The highways used to be cleared regularly. But when south of Orillia is now becoming p9pulation dense, Barrie and area, thats where focus goes. Ford loves the broader GTA.
Lived in Barrie 32 years, then moved to Bracebridge 3 winters ago, i can tell you this, Barrie would sometimes get these squalls like Bracebridge does, but the snow here in Bracebridge is heavy and wet, causing way more havoc, traffic, trees, powerlines ect. And yes, there is less equipment and staff to clear it out. Drive safe, and keep some distance. Cheers
Up north is going to see shortages of goods when trucks get cant through. Where are all the snow plows Ford? I pray there are no deaths in vehicles stuck for days. Hope your taking food etc.
As for the semi trucks: -some do put on reasonable tires for the winter. -many modern fleets have switched to low rolling resistance high fuel economy tires that have a stiffer compound that is not winter road friendly, so the trucks have poor traction when the pavement is covered.
I am in southern Arizona but was up there (Huntsville) back in September, crazy how fast it changes. Its also nothing new, happened every so many years when I lived there.
I used to truck through that area for many years. One day I broke down in Herast Ontario and I was there for 2 days and got to know some locals and they were telling me that back in the day? When snow dumps happened they had to dig themselves out for days. So ya this is normal in that area..
Add in the fact that 30,000+ are without Hydro and it amplifies the need to stay off the highways in this region during Winter Hazard Conditions. Brutal storm.
Leave them there, not life threatning...life lesson.....Warnings are warning for a reason, bill them for any service or is the problem peope just think they can do what they want.
It’s so easy to drive In snow. I drove all around gravenhurst and Severn and had no issues because I have a brain and drive according to the conditions. If you’re scared of snow don’t go clogging up the roads and let the rest of us use them. Get some snow tires and if your vehicle is capable go get to where you need to go. However if you’re going to panic and park your front wheel drive car with all seasons on the middle of the highway you should be forced to retake your drivers license because there were so many DOPES on the road it wasn’t even funny.
So, you're saying that you're a better driver than all those transport trucks that are stuck out there? If you're so good, get out there and help them then, instead of sitting in front of your computer puffing out your chest and bragging!
@ I was busy, which is why I was driving in brutal weather. So I’m not going on a philanthropic jaunt. Most drivers are pitifully under qualified to drive in Canadian winters especially a storm of this size. I am qualified to drive in that weather and I don’t have an ego about it it’s just a fact.
It says in the description call 911 but how the hell are they gonna get to ya if your stranded in feet of snow????Didn't think that through in your description
You can thank Justin Trudeau's global cooling carbon tax for that. Which reminds me, imagine all of the carbon being emitted while the vehicles idle to keep warm.
@@justinerebecca3567 He's not. It is the power of the carbon tax that produces results. Which by the way 8 out of ten Canadian taxpayers profit from, according to Jagmeet Trudeau.
@rickvervoort9536 but how does that relate to a snowstorm and people being stranded? You can blame Trudeau for a lot of things wrong with this country, but this isn't one of them.
Good luck to all stranded, hope you all get where you’re going safely.
It wasn't a surprise, 2 day warning

Thanks for the update.
For the last 100 Years we could clear the roads! WHAT happened? Lieberials!
Crazy is thataway.
It’s Ford not the liberals
Exactly. Along with Fire control etc. The only thing Trudeau is ready for is a Taylor Swift concert... Sickening State of affairs.
Wonder how many electric cars are stuck in that? And if they’re out of charge yet?
if any are there they wouldnt last all this time and maybe longer. and id guess some even had low fuel , i cant imagine being stuck in that mess with kids in the car
When the Feds ban ICE cars what happens to Northern Ontario residents let alone those farther south in Muskoka and Haliburton?
Teslas can last about 59 hours running heater from a full charge...not sure about others...but ICE cars wouldn't last that long
@@guddisgoodeats1247 If a car runs out you can refuel in a few minutes. E cars need much more time to recharge.

Some cities in the US, too. Rediculous.

HWY 11 and 400 are nasty in a winter snowstorm.

Truckers shouldn’t have to work when they know we’re in for a storm

What’s the joke here? The DEI OPP hire seems to think the situation is funny
I live between Bracebridge and Huntsville yes we did get snow
Yet South River/Sundridge got none, a few flakes.
So where r the plows .I live up north. Near a major HW. And ours has been cleared since last night
Greetings from Los Angeles, California, where it's nice, warm and 73°F.

Sure hope you’re not driving an electric vehicle.
Yeah me too don't worry they're very effective against the storm LOL😂.
Open it! Get plows out there! Storms were worse than this 30 years ago. And they kept 11 open

yADA YADA! WHERES THE PLOWS?
Ahhh….did anyone check the Weather prior to setting out ?…..
Probably not.

Ontario Canada
It’s the province of Ontario, in Canada

Muskooka?
I know the long haul truckers are compelled to complete their deliveries, but why would anyone else even THINK about driving in these conditions?
People simply do not know when to stayput!!

Why have they NOT called in the Military to help these people???

Bracebridge to Orillia the worst MTO crews in Ontario, no excuse for this with a 2 day warning.
There should be a small army of snowmobilers up there that im sure would help out.
but the rail roads are runing
