Also the 12 Kird Apes line is a reference to the film 12 Monkeys, which was inspired by La Jetée (and which also had a recent TV adaptation). After having looked this up I now understand how incredible that whole reference was.

I love it when LRR gets meta. Also when the loops first started I had the horrifying notion that Paul had somehow acquired the power of the fabled Time Walk and was abusing its powers for his own petty gain, but then it just went Futurama-esque "What If?" Machine on us. Twice.
First: that theme song rap made me tear up from joy. Second: Adam and Missy’s interactions were ADORABLE. Third: I want every single one of those shows to be real. Fourth: every single thing about this was perfect. *chef’s kiss*
This has got to be one of *the* best written, executed, and funny improv skits that LRR has ever done, bar none. And, clearly, someone has watched a good deal of trashy television. I think I would have gone with Missie's proposal, the fourth one. A bit campy, sure, but there's plenty of time to get darker and more serious in later seasons.

I liked the reference plus the wordplay. hope that helps!

The whole show starts at a slowmo shot of several planewalkers fighting against Bolas. Each episode is a flashback that starts by zooming up into one of the characters eyeballs and showing their whole backstory and how they got there. During each of these flashbacks you come to hate Bolas a bit more. Season 1 ends with an episode that zooms into Bolas's eye and his flashback is so heartbreaking that it makes you empathize with him more than with anyone else.
