1987, Also w. Lee Konitz, E.L. Petrovsky, Larry Schneider, Howard Johnson, Enrico Rava, Manfred Schoof, Franco Ambrosetti, Ray Anderson, Art Baron, Dave Taylor, Sharon Freeman, Tom Varner. Sheila Jordan, guest vocals on the tour. Fun time. Maybe this was taped in Ft. Worth TX, where the cd was recoded live, at "Caravan of Dreams." best all--tom varner
Kenny brought a determined intervalic edgy lyricism to this great peculiar set of changes without losing his center. Totally kicked ass. 2nd half of Joe's solo on fire for me too.
Mike, you've done so much with the Gruntz band, my favorite band (he's my favorite composer/writer)--I'm glad to see everything you post. Always burning jazz from everyone involved. I was listening to "Global Excellence" in the car today--you play your a-- off!
I was at one of these shows. It sucks that Caravan of Dreams is no more, the Bass family closed it down because Fort Worth obviously needed another high scale restaurant. :-(
Such an amazing thing to witness...my favourite tenor sax and flugel horn players united on one piece. I wish I could have seen this live.

Yes! thank you for this post! Wow big band up on my favorite of Joe Henderson's catalog! Nice arrangement!
Henderson was undoubtedly a master- untouchable in many ways along side the other master Kenny Dorham. RIP
