Love this movie! According to IMDb, this movie was filmed in Vancouver, BC Canada. There is a Snow Valley Lodging in Fernie, BC but it's not the same lodge as the one in the film. How I wish a lodge like that did exist and I could spend Xmas there!
That's a shame, Maine is so beautiful. I lived there many different times and years at a time. I'm from Virginia, but my baby sis has been living there for twenty some years. I think I want to go back cause is just such a wonderful land full of beauty.
Hallmark celebrates Christmas without Christ and, of course, on purpose. It’s the closest I get on tv unless I watch the classics. I know why but it’s sad how we are missing the whole meaning of Christmas.
It was a holiday long before Christianity renamed it and made it about religion. Jesus was born in the summer if you read the story. Not that he actually existed but that’s the story. I don’t know why Christian’s have to force their nasty religion on a perfectly nice holiday. Religion is cruel and judgemental and it would be much better if we got rid of the fairy tales.
Another thing I noticed about Hallmark Christmas movies is that they seldom mention Jesus, the Bible, the Christmas story, Christian theology. They are about a secular holiday with symbolism that is not even Christian. Trees, decorations, snow, love and romance. I suppose it is so that the films can appeal to people who are secular, agnostic, Jewish, Christian or anything else.
The Christmas evergreen tree is representative of God's unending love for us, the reason why he sent us his best gift ever, Jesus to redeem us. Most decorations have similar meanings, people often tend to forget the reason for the season.

The evergreen stood for eternal life, because it never loses its foliage in winter. Then Christian missionaries simply reinterpreted the objects of the nature worship and gave them new meanings taken from Christianity. They mostly are not mentioned in the Bible. If the movies were about Christianity, they would have characters mention the religious symbolism so that viewers would get a lesson in Christian faith.

But did you notice that in the movies with Candace it is always in some way expredsed thst Christmas is anout Chrust, that it is about the God's incarnation and it is a religious thing? A bit subtle, maybe, but it's there. Unlike any other Hallmark Chrustmas movies.
Christmas is absolutely about Traditions!! Going to Christmas Eve Church Service. Going to spend the day with family and dear cherished friends that we don’t get a chance to see them very often. Breaking bread with loved ones, each bringing a special food item for all to enjoy. And so on…

Although I am a Buddhist, twice a monk, I love Christmas since I was 12 in 1956 of 9 years of schooling in Hong Kong, plus another 5 in America - 14 years of overseas studies in all. All the Chinese & American families invited me to celebrate Christmas with them. After coming back to Bangkok in 1971, I always celebrated Christmas with my Mom & Dad, until they were all heavenly bound. MISS CHRISTMAS SO MUCH!

Advent starts immediately after the Sunday of Christ, King of Universe. It does last 40 days and it is a period of winter lent before Christmas.
Advent is the four sundays before Christmas. The feast of Christ the King is the last Sunday before Advent.
