    After I bought this tent, I really struggled with getting a good pitch (my first trekking pole tent ever). Thanks for sharing!! I use this technique to set up and I can get a nearly perfect pitch right away. Also introduced those mods you suggested! Thank you!

    The side guy lines were causing the angry Lanshan look. If you losen the sides a little the hard lines go away and the ridge becomes more level, thus keeping the fly off of the inner.

    I have both the lanshan 2 and the lanshan 2 pro - brilliant tents. Interesting way of setting up re the triangle approach - i like it and will give it a try

      I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. There are a lot of good tents out there and I think in many cases it now comes down to personal preferences, so if your Helsport tent works for you, keep it. Saying that, as you guessed from the video I do like my Lanshan 2.

    Informative video, thanks for putting it together. We are doing the West Highland Way in a few weeks and will be camping in our Lanshan. I was wondering about packing up a wet Lanshan (something to consider in Scotland) and whether splitting the fly and inner when packing up a wet tent, to avoid getting the inner soaked by the fly. What do you do on your multiday hikes?

    • @huntonthetrails
      @huntonthetrails  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Paul. Thanks for commenting. I would say it depends on whether you think you will be able to dry it during the day. When I did the Scottish national trail if the tent was wet I would get it out during lunch or a break to dry it out. However, if you are having to put away the tent with little prospect of it drying before you put it up again, I would separate them. Trying to keep your inner as dry as possible is key to your warmth and comfort. Good luck with your trek.

    Hi there, nice, good vid. Quite a speedy set-up. I walked from Snowdonia to Berwick-upon-Tweed in Sept/Oct this year, and used the Lanshan 2, great, great tent for the money. One question I have about your set-up, what about the bath-tub, it appears that as it is un-pegged it'll be loose and prone to move? Cheers. ATB

    • @huntonthetrails
      @huntonthetrails  2 роки тому +1

      Corrrect. When I put out the 4 corner pegs, the inner should have been pegged at the same time. Did you pitch it the same way ? I was surprised how I could do it this way even if it was really windy.

    Did this video earlier than expected 😅 it’s good to have all these tips etc I had another go at setting mine up last week and it went really well considering the first attempt was a failure 🤣
    The separation from the guylines on the entrances etc etc.... Do you think that made a difference?

    • @huntonthetrails
      @huntonthetrails  2 роки тому +1

      I think it does make a difference. I think you can get better tension and stability across the ridge line, plus I think it makes getting in and out easier.

    Can I just check when and how you peg out the inner as I didn’t see you do that bit? I’ve been using my Lanshan 2 for a while and am learning how I can make pitching improvements 🙏

    • @huntonthetrails

      Hi. First of all I re-watched my video as I have used my Lanshan 2 many many times since. The basic method in this video works well every time except I have got much quicker at it, which helps when its raining or about to. Now regarding the inner. First of all, I always attach the two poles through the toggles on the inner. However, I often found particularly if the ground was uneven or slightly sloping, that pegging out the inner using the same peg for the outer created a lot of tension on the inner. So I tend to not bother. The inner always stays in place and the separation between inner and outer is fine. I have used this tent well over 100 times now and never had any trouble at all. If I am backpacking with my wife or a friend I use their poles to pull the outer out on the sides which makes the airflow even better. You will get better with practice 😁. Just keep the outer as taught as you can, make sure the poles are straight, the pegs are firmly in place and it will stand very strong winds.

    • @misterpontypine
      @misterpontypine Місяць тому +1

      That’s a really helpful response and quite a novel approach to not peg out the inner which would still be connected to the outer just above the bathtub corners. I’m looking forward to trying it out 👍

    a lot of people use this tent but thay only have it for themself as it has more room than the lanshan1 how is the room in it if i was to get one for a couple im wanting to go to the lakes but the sights dont alow sleeping in your car so need a small light tent but also room for two would you recomend this

    • @huntonthetrails
      @huntonthetrails  3 місяці тому

      Hi. First of all I would suggest that you think about what you are going to use this tent for. It is a lightweight backpacking tent designed to be carried for overnight use. If you are only wanting a tent for use on a campsite you will find larger, but heavier, ones at a similar price. This tent will fit 2 adults, I have used it with 2 mates and my wife on different trips and always had space. If offers great space for the weight. You will also need to get 2 trekking poles to use with it. I hope this helps.

    do you set your trekking poles at the recommended 125cm ?

    • @huntonthetrails
      @huntonthetrails  Рік тому

      No, I usually go between 115 to 120. 115 if I want it nearer the ground. Have a play around with the height to find what works for you. As I have used the tent more and more, I now set the first pole to 117 and then adjust the second one as I put in to the height I want.

  • @rickweiss20

    Why do u want ridge line to be same direction as wind??

    • @huntonthetrails
      @huntonthetrails  8 місяців тому +1

      Otherwise you would have the 2 large side panels exposed to it. This would make it less stable. Also it means one vestibule area is on the opposite side to the wind if you needed to cook.

    • @micheil-o1q
      @micheil-o1q 6 місяців тому +1

      I prefer one of the openings into the wind- there’s much more space between the outer and inner doing this, and you still have a sheltered opening side. As it’s done here, a strong wind and rain can result in the inner getting wet and soaking the feet of your sleeping bag.
