Can’t think of anything in particular that I hope y’all come out with. Since I’ve added session percussionist I feel like my NI universe is Komplete.
I second the customizable chord sets (which should be a minimum feature). As a bonus, you could look to introduce something akin to what the Reason Chord Sequencer is doing, which provides presets of chords, based on 'mood' and 'feel', but also styles and modal sets - basically chord structures from different keys and modes that work well together. This is important as staying in the same chord set (like minor) and having to adjust the knob to switch mode takes you out of the moment. Theoryboard 'THY333' is also a stunner when it comes to chords; the bass clef hand is used for chords, whereas the treble clef hand is used for single notes, allowing you the ability to play chords and single note passages concurrently (mainly for film scoring and sketching ideas). Just some food for thought to take it to the next level. Oh and the option to add a bass note to the chord would be amazing

There's a thread in the forums "How to create custom MIDI Templates with Kontrol S MK3" with some instructions. Official documentation should be coming soon :)
For me, I like to try to play things properly. However, I can see the Play Assist features as useful in guiding you, and also great as an improvisation / sketching / ideas tool - put the keyboard into E Dorian, set a mode that stops you playing a non-diatonic note, and off you go! Then when you're more confident, turn the assistance off. As you can probably guess, I'm a better composer than player ;-)
Very fun and useful. You know what else would be fun and useful? Sliding fader controls. This was a real "miss" in the S-series MK3, but you're sure doing what you can with what you manufactured. Looking forward to MK4 because NI produces great VSTs and I'm really appreciating the hardware/software integration!
I have moved from midi keyboards with faders to the MK3. Don't miss them at all. Unless they are motorised faders, they just don't work very well. Adding motorised faders to an already expensive NI controller would likely price it right out of the target market. My experience is faders on a controller are overrate.
@@stevebryson9287 That's good to hear. I think putting it on the S88 would be appropriate. People already willing to pay a premium for the weighted keyboard would appreciate the faders. Or at least have it as an optional accessory that you could buy and seamless plug in.
@@stevebryson9287I personally do like using faders, I have the Arturia 49 Keylab essential mk3 and Arturia Keylab 61 mk2. But then again I love my NI S88 mk3, there’s just something about it that I adore. Really, I think the reason I love my Arturia faders is because they give me double the amount of controllers. This is very cool. With the midi templates on third party vsts - does the template automatically load when you click or select a instrument/effect in your daw?
the best feature for the play assist would be have different LED colours for different scale degrees. it'd be super useful to be able to switch key and know that the red LED is the 5th, blue is a 3rd etc. also is there no way I can make layouts on my computer instead of on the keyboard? the UI isn't awful to use it's just obviously it'd be better on a computer, and I know that used to be the case with NI things.

I might have just missed something but it seems like to edit midi templates you have to do it on the keyboard itself. that's not so bad, but I remember old NI devices having controller editor software that let you do it on the pc with it connected? no big deal either way really. having different colours for scale degrees would be awesome though! thanks
