...to a certain generation of black people....she was just so ...pleasing to us...that she did great timeless ballads...pop songs and movie soundtracks...so elegantly...without the overly done histrionics that other ladies felt they needed to do...she is always so elegant and classy...refined..her voice is made for movie soundtracks....ads for fine products.....cars...perfume...cologne....furs...diamonds...haute couture.....just the best...of everything life has to offer....she is a superior...tasteful....unique...platinum grade talent....
Yasssss. Just her voice & the backing instruments. No auto tune, no enhancement. Zero help from technology. Transcendent artist & 1 of the all-time greats.
I always hate it when people say they don't know who Dionne Warwick is.Or they say she is Whitney Houston.Though they are related and very powerful singers.Whitney earned her props, but Ms.Warwick is a legend. She gave us some of the best songs through generations.
Dionne was a supreme vocalist. In her youth she soured to even greater heights when she was a full fledged soprano. Dionne had no equal not aretha nor patti. Dionne grew up in the greatest vocal family in history and so her talent was larger than life.
Dionne’s gift is that DELICIOUS tone and the way her vocal acrobatics are so understated and just pleasing to the ear without being offensive or too much. She knew how to edit herself vocally. Less is often more.
yes!! so glad young folks are rediscovering dionne Warwick. she sings these songs like she's slicing warm butter, when in fact these are INCREDIBLY difficult to sing.
I know people that put forth more effort to pee than dionne ever had to put into belting the shit out of every song!! For me shes the true queen just tbh. No shade to Aretha or any others but dionnes range, power, dynamics, resonance and her tone were just top tier for me
I’ll Never Love This Way Again was released in 1979. Heartbreaker, when I was in college. Dionne never sings a song the same way at any of her concerts. I have seen her twice. Her musicality and phrasing are wonderful.
....yes....Heartbreaker....and she has said she does not like the song....and i have always wondered...does she not like the song itself...or the fact that at the time the Bee Gees were so hot and had produced so many stunning hits for the big divas....and hers did not do as well....it makes me sad sometimes...she is so underrated....
It's like ecstasy. Dionne is a living Legend, a Diva, an Icon and one of the greatest female singers of all time. Thank you lady D for sharing your giftedness with the world.
You noticed the same thing about Dionne I always did. I call it the 'wave' or 'rollercoaster' effect where she kind of just glides along in little peaks and valleys. She is so under appreciated because she was usually a very restrained singer with sort of a 'dry' voice; like a very complicated wine that is not always appreciated by the masses. She is not really a shouter like Aretha (although Dionne could shout with the best of them)--Aretha is great but her voice sounds more impressive to the untrained ear. Dionne's voice takes a more careful listener to understand how good she really was. She has a very distinctive, almost nasally timbre to her voice that I find fascinating; however, a lot of people don't care for it. She turned Never Love This Way Again, a very simple song, into a showcase of absolute vocal artistry and a display of the amazing power of her voice. One of the best descriptions i ever heard about Dionne was that she is like a swan gliding across the lake. Looks totally graceful and effortless...you can't see those webbed feet doing all the work to keep her moving under the water.
The difference is Dionne was a real musician who read musical scores, she wasn't just singing lyrics. She has a bachelor, masters, and doctorate in music education. She had training for her technical skills and wasn't simply singing with her God given talent.
I loved you reactioning about Dionne, I listen Dionne since 4 years old and in listen in the radio here in Brazil, the radio with the songs of 70,80 e 90´s. She have diferente voice, there are in your voice elegance, romance, tecnic, passion, things you need stop for to hear attenction, your music have groove, i am happy, in know existens younger people listen Dionne, i feel many people do not valorized her, i say the same about miss labell. i say in context valorizing both. I'm sad that sometimes they just relate to her as Whitney's cousin, not the huge singer she is sorry for my mistake in English,a i long time go i dont speak and written in english and dont have friens for pratice. Dear great job.
First time watching your reaction. Very good show. Thank you for seeing how great Dionne Warwick is. There are many performances that are videoed. She is still with us and released a brand new album in 2021. She is a true treasure a true artist. FYI her cousin is Whitney Houston. Just thought you’d like to know. Greatness must run in the family.
If you thought that performance was great, I bet you would lose your mind once you hear her Rialto performance in the same year (1983). You should check out that entire performance and react to a few of them!
Yeah all are good of Ms. Dionne. However, please react to the best ones. React to Dionne Warwick after you/ Ill never Love this way again!! It will shut everything down!!
How sad that youngins didn't have this level of decorum, class and artistry in musical performances. As you can see, you all missed out. Aunty Dionne is still going strong. Artists from today could NEVA!!!!!
Please choose the best of the best versions of Ms. Dionne while the iron is hot!! All are good but come with the best best ones of her!! Please React to same song vids: "After You/Ill never love this way Again" or the version of this song from the Carson Show. Please!!! You will be blown away. This version is nothing compared to the ones I am requesting. Ms. Dionne is truly underrated yet she is the greatest!!
Nvr saw this '83 vid till today: She killed the hi-notes part at the tail-end in a way that doesn't even appear on the studio[radio] version which had heavy air play in 1983-1984. Treasure.
Genius Top 2 UK Hit from the pen of British famous Composer Sir Barry Gibb from the BeeGees, who wrotes with Paul McCartney the biggest timeless classic hits in history. But you can feel the Motown and Hal David/Burt Bacharach school 🍾
Hello, good video... I wanted to know if you have the video and if you can send it to me, it's because it was deleted on UA-cam. (the video you reacted to)
The TV show Dionne is on is called "Yoru No Hit Studio", a very popular weekly Japanese music program where some of the top Japanese singers/bands go on and perform live (was broadcast live as well). They sometimes have foreign acts as guests but more often than not, "the international acts" would just lip synch. It must have been Dionne's willingness to perform live and her commitment to putting in the hours rehearsing with the house-orchestra that made them give her TWO songs when everyone else only gets to perform one.
Her voice so simple and classy but at th e same time strong, liberating and sweet
Dionne Warwick's sound is distinctive. A musical treasure.

Dionne makes it look, SO DAMN EASY!!
Dionne opened doors for many including her little cousin Nippy (Whitney). Can't you see the influence.
Many legends to be specific. Luther Vandross, Philip Bailey, Olivia Newton, Dusty Springfield, Angela Bofill to name a few.
Dionne Warwick has a huge list of awesome hits from the 60’s to the 80’s
she is effortless...and she was always much better live
I’ll Never Love This Way Again was released in 1979. Heartbreaker, when I was in college. Dionne never sings a song the same way at any of her concerts. I have seen her twice. Her musicality and phrasing are wonderful.

I love her ballads such simplicity and clarity.
You're so right about that of her being so under appreciated and recognized for her unique to f and beauty....

.....the supermodel IMAN....says the same thing about walking the catwalk...the swan analogy....
The difference is Dionne was a real musician who read musical scores, she wasn't just singing lyrics. She has a bachelor, masters, and doctorate in music education. She had training for her technical skills and wasn't simply singing with her God given talent.
Heartbreaker was written by the BeeGees! In her studio version, they sing background!

She sure passed on the family trait of a stunning voice to her niece Whitney Houston.

You can tell he adores her. He had her on the show often
You’re so cute! Yes Ms D in her prime a wonderful singer.
Diva, maravilhosa, voz inconfundível, amo muito!! Parabéns pelo bom gosto em escolher esta voz divina.
Did you know Dionne Warwick is Whitney Houston's first cousin and Whitney's mum was a backup singer for Elvis 😁
Got to spend almost an hour just talking with her at a Newark music festival a couple of years ago and it was life changing.
And can believe she's related to Whitney Houston...runs in the genes!
It’s almost like Whitney was her daughter. I see so many similarities, same body styles, nobody wears a gown like them, and their tone is incredible
Miss Dione🇧🇷❤️
Love AT Second Sight is one of her most Powerful
Great reaction, a performance worthy of such and more!
She has such a clear, clean sound. Whitney Houston's first cousin.
The voice is amazing
Funny because, dionne was actually laid back here. Lol
If you thought that performance was great, I bet you would lose your mind once you hear her Rialto performance in the same year (1983). You should check out that entire performance and react to a few of them!

Excepcional cantante. No se ven más de este nivel. Esta versión es mejor que la de Bee gees
Hello can you react to dionne warwick's after you/i'll never love this way again live in 1982?

I grew up in the 60’s and I can tell you Dionne Warwick was my absolute favorite singer. I was never impressed by Aretha Franklin and her screaming.
Great find by u! Amazing ending of "Never Love This Way Again", done live on Japanese TV - has a better ending than her studio version.
Listen to her sing Alfie live 1970s
