As an owner of a 2007 V8V...let me start by saying its a fantastic car and I absolutely love it...its great to see someone with the balls to take on a crashed one...I do all the work on mine myself, so know a fair bit about them. ...however go in with your eyes wide open. From the wear in the car its either been abused or it isn't correct mileage...mine is 32k and pristine inside. The 2007 had a better quality interior than the earlier ones. As for the damage...I really hope you got it super cheap, as Aston prices make Boeing aircraft parts look cheap! ..then there's the paint job which needs to be right and the fact it's a sports shift...so about 4k less than a manual.one. Best of luck...I really hope this works out OK for you and you end up with a car you love.
Actually there was a DB4 vantage in about 1962. This had the same body as the James Bond DB5 but with a uprated engine. I was in it when it did 145mph on an A road near Edinburgh. Incidently the driver was an agent in MI6/SOE.
That's not an "automatic" gearbox. It's an automated manual. It's the same transmission as the manual gearbox. Even though it has an "automatic" mode, you dont want to use it. Shift with the paddles.
haha ive been seeing ur bmw every morning last week with liam audi s3 both look good cant wait for u to finish the bmw body kit keep it up. this looks like its going to be a good series
I was going to saw after a minute or so you’ve been spending too much time with Matt and then he appeared lol. Rented one of these for my birthday a few years ago, was great fun, hope you get it sorted and enjoy 👍
Looking forward to the content on this chris, i agree about the rear wheel/arch gap. its identical to my xfr, the wheels just look lost in the arches, not wide enough and a shit offset.i will end up spacing mine out i think with some H&R spacers. keep up the good work buddy
Chris, you owe your parents big time, for using their garage. Looking forward to seeing the rebuild on this one. Maybe you should be the one to choose your next road trip with Mat when you've finished the car and Mat has finished his. Maybe a drive along the Fourka Pass in Switzerland stopping at the Belvédère Hotel where 007 Goldfinger was filmed, before moving on to get a cable car to visit the 007 museum 'Bond World' within the Piz Gloria which is located on top of Schilthorn, a 2,970 metre high summit in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Oh so Very very cool.
I do 🤣 i owe them a new floor atleast! And funnily enough we were discussing this and switzerland did pop up in the conversation. You made it sound much better though!
I would just like to say that I do like your channel Chris, but after watching a lot of Mat Armstrong's, well all of them, you need to ask him for some advice on sorting out your playlists, as all of his start with him getting the cars and play in line with him repairing and modifying right the way through in order to the end result whereas yours are all jumbled up, I only found you through Mat's channel and am enjoying what you are both doing, sorry for the comment, but you do need to fix it so as people can watch them from beginning to end, cheers Bob.
Knowing your prev cars bud, I suspect that front wing will be replaced by wide body kit - so no lost there 😂. The bonnet looks repairable Gutted re your badges - but how about get someone to make a custom Slix AM badge as a silver-lining 😉. Looking forward to seeing the project progress
Iv just brought a manual 2018 bmw m2 manual 370bhp and it is a ball of fun to drive carnt wait to see the m1 replica on the road (m2 vs m1 replica would be a good race
Appreciate it man! We are all in this one together 🤣 its going to be baby steps as i have thrown myself in at the deep end but its just nuts and bolts, so im sure it will all work out in the end.
Ha! I was looking at bidding on that car, if I didn't get the car I won. I am wondering now, if you and I were bidding against the same car?!? Black manual aston, damage on near side, etc... ? Either way, good luck on the build. I have stripped mine down already and almost have all the bits to rebuild her. They are fun cars to work on! Cheers
If you won it about 10 days ago we may have been bidding on the same car 👀🤣 reckon you could pop me a message on instagram to help me out with something?
Buttons bespoke to Aston. Vents are definitely not out of a Transit. 🤣 Most of the electrics are reliable, there are a few modules than can play up, namely the tracker module but other than that, it's pretty bullet proof. The interiors are fairly hard wearing and decent quality so something is amiss. Get the mileage read on the body module to confirm it's the same as the clocks. Remember all the power is right at the top of the rev range, it'll feel docile, even slow under 4,000rpm. Keep the revs up and it'll pick its heels up. They make power all the way to the red line which is around 7,300. Rev limit can be I create to 7,700 fairly easily. High flow cats, equal length headers and a throttle remap release about 50hp and give the car the power or deserves. Useable and tractable power.
It was meant to be taken with a pinch of salt 🤣 the key deffo looks like a tranny van key though! Yes i think these performance mods may well be a must to bring it up to date performance-wise. Thanks for watching 😊
@@Chris_Slix yeah the keys on the early cars are not the greatest. They're similar to the Jaguars of the time as they were designed during Ford's ownership. The dreadful satnav is a Volvo unit as is the key fob. The satnav can be upgraded to an HD screen with Android auto or apple car play. Aston Installations in Tewkesbury do a kit and it'll transform the functionality. The audio system is actually pretty good quality even when not specified with the Premium upgrade. There's a 6 disc changer inside the main head unit and you can plug in USB drives into the slot inside the centre console.
Being honest i liked the first rebuild but it would be nice if both u and mstt maybe did different cars as this could get boring watching u both do the same project cars.
If this car had been to a Aston Martin garage after the accident to have it repaired prior to obviously being deemed no good they would it took the badges off the car… or just maybe some scumbag took them as you said
Thats certainly not '' hard hit'' in the repair world that would nearly polish out ... and for a man whos hacking up a bm to stick on replica parts to question Astons styling ,,, lol really . If you dont like the engine or the styling why did you buy it , is it registered on the hit list ?
I own a 07 Vantage always wanted a Aston and 18 months ago finally got one. Unfortunately now fuel has it £2 a litre which works out a £1 a mile if your having fun. So im in limbo as to keeping it. As for the wear on the drivers seat there's something not right there, The interior is showing more wear than my 70k car. The sat nav screen btw is from A Volvo. The aire filters are the same as a Ford focus diesel and the pollan filter from a RX7
The fact that Chirs and Mat are best buddies makes me happy, You guys are doing similar projects and I love it. Love coming from South Africa

So looking forward to yours and Matts Aston Martins, at least no dash airbags👍👍👍👍👍

How spooky. I found your channel as a recommendation after watching Matts Aston video. Only to then see Matt helping you get yours into the garage.
Just found channel, I thought I recognised Mat in the garage, lovely car, at least you don’t have to replace the dash like someone else we know 😬
congratulations on the new build
No need to worry about what people think Chris lad. Well done and good luck with the build. Looking forward to watching the progress!
you and matt are twinning this awesome bro!!!!

Bruh... You gotta race Mat after you both rebuild astons :D
To see if his will lap mine? 🤣
Wow that really hasn’t been looked after, mine is a similar age and 21000 miles and is mint.
Tell me about it! Plenty to film on it atleast 🤣
You’ve bought a proper Aston haha! Be interesting watching both builds
I think that probably means mine is just less reliable and slower to be honest 🤣🤣🤣
@@Chris_Slix could be 😂 be interesting to see what you do with it
Hi are sure on mileage ? My V8S has done 45k and seat are like new ??? Leather on pre2012 cars did shrink on dashboards 😤
Have done a check on the car and all seems to add up! Maybe the previous owner wasnt as careful as he should be.
