No worries! We tipped $50 each which was split between 2 guides, there were 11 of us so each guide got $275. We also tipped another $50 each that was split between six porters.
Useful video ! Were you concerned about bathroom situation, as in finding a place to pee along the whole trek ? Especially if you drink a lot of water, to stay hydrated. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊 I have a bladder condition so this was very important for me haha! Further down the trail there are lots of bathrooms (some squats), further up the trail there are less but always managed to find a bush if needed haha. There are teahouses every few hours throughout the trail however. If you take diamox you'll need to pee more - just be aware of that!
We booked about 8 months but you definitely don't need to that early. Our final deposits were due 3 months before so maybe then, but if they had space they'd sort something out! Worth contacting them nepalhikingadventure.com/
Thanks so much for the video Clare! 😄 Absolutely brilliant and very clear advise. As a general figure / just approximates - may I ask how much the trip cost in total?
Glad you enjoyed it! In total probably about £2000 including everything (flights, tour, accom in Kathmandu, extras on the trail) - I've broke it all down here clairesfootsteps.com/everest-base-camp-trek-cost/
Hi, great video. Im ging in October with g adventures (another UA-camr recommend them) could you clarify what vaccines are needed to enter nepal please? And do they ask for proof?
Hi! Glad you enjoyed the video 😃 I'd recommend asking a travel pharmacist or going on your countries health website (NHS travel health for UK) as I'm not a medical expert 🙂 and I'd already had all travel vaccines before this trip so couldn't really advise!
Worried about acclimatisation? Then don't fly in to Lukla. Start the trek from Jiri where all the original treks started. Lukla airport was built to make it easier and quicker for expeditions to get supplies in. Easier and quicker. Lukla is like a tourist airport for people with limited time and want a base camp quick fix. So do the trek from Jiri ,it's more challenging and by the time you've trekked to Lukla you'll be acclimatised to continue.
I actually would have loved to do this! Some people in my group were limited with time and we did want to go with a guide (although I'm sure if we all agreed and booked in time they would have taken us from Jiri) which is why that wasn't an option for this particular trip but definitely worth considering!
@@ClairesFootsteps Seems like you have to "normally reside" in either the UK or one of the countries in Europe. ( other people cannot apply for coverage )
There's no malaria in the mountains or Kathmandu, small risk in the low-lying Nepal (like Chitwan). You will need some vaccines, I'm not sure which as I'm always topped up with travel vax as I go away so much!

Your video was really useful Claire! Thank you very much. I’m hoping to do this trek next year! I can’t wait 😊
Amazing! Hope you enjoy :)
lovely work Claire. your advise is much appreciated. Cheers. :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very helpful. I'm considering signing up next year. I'm not great when it's cold. How did you keep warm at night, honestly was it cold? X
Very helpful video, thanks for putting this together. I have a question, what is considered a good tip for the guide? Thanks!

Nice informative vlog TY. Good tips for this old Brit fart living in US and off to EBC in mid Sept. Going solo but with Guide.
Amazing, enjoy!

Such a nice video ❤
Thank you 😊
Thnaks for the amazing video :) I was wondering how did you find the tour guide? from UK or in Nepal?
Glad it was helpful 🙂 my friend arranged the guide, it's a Nepali company, all guides are from Nepal 🙂
Good tips; thanx!
🙂
How much cash di you realistically need for the trail including allowance for tips and assuming some shopping in Namche
Hey, I've broken it all down here :) clairesfootsteps.com/everest-base-camp-trek-cost/

@ClairesFootsteps
No problem just very conflicting info from different sites including uk gov... Thanks anyway. 👍
What about Annapurna trek do you need a guide for that one.
Yes you do (or a porter)

@@ClairesFootstepsI hope you get to do it again sometime. But next time from Jiri😉. It is a beautiful trek in.
Great tips! It’s funny how you pronounce these Nepali villages, as if these are French towns 😅
True Traveler only works if you are normally living in certain countries. ( Very restrictive ).
Ah okay that's good to know, which countries?

Did you take any vaccines? Malaria or Typhoid?

@@ClairesFootsteps DID YOU GET THE THYPOID VACCINE? THANK YOU!!!
@@hotgymnastx I already had it before I went to Nepal, I'd recommend checking with your Dr if you'll need it
How was the weather in April?
It was pretty good! We only had one day of snow (base camp day). Cold at nights but nowhere near as chilly as people who'd hiked in February or March.
Can you pls add the tricking company info
Sure, sorry thought I had added it! We used nepalhikingadventure.com/ and were happy with them :)
@@ClairesFootsteps thx
The pronunciation of all these places is hilarious! They’re not French you know?!?! lol I died
Good video otherwise
