I agree. I've produced a lot of very successful bands here in London since the 90s and I started when I was very young.
I've also produced quite a few Kpop and J-pop groups. I have been using auto tune for well over 30 years and when used properly, nobody knows. Nobody was even aware of what it was back then.
Really it has now become a popular effect to go for, where it sounds metallic. That really started with Cher and her "Believe" song, then rappers used it.
Not quite sure why the anger on this review because I guarantee 99% of the music this guy listens to has EQ, compression and auto tune on the voices ... Whoever the artist is. That's just music production 🤨🇬🇧
I think their bside “Smart” had more controversy. It’s an Afrobeat song with a lot of hip movements so some fans were upset they did the genre and others were upset with the choreography
A lot of people were upset with them dancing in a church too but it’s an inactive church that’s just used as a filming site now
That room is not a church, it’s called Main Sanctuary a common used for events and concerts. Christians have no rights to complain about that place, that a total different religion than them. It’s called Presbyterian.

I really liked the song too, and the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Y'all definitely gotta check out their garage performance of this song, the choreo is heat. and btw, the church they used for this video is the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, which has been used as a set for music videos and films in the past. The church was used as a set for the films "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Legally Blonde 2," and "John Wick, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles filmed their cover of "True Colors" in the church.
Chaewon and Kazuha were the standouts for me this comeback, I mean Chaewon is always owning the stage when she's performing, but Kazuha really outdone herself. As always, the choreography is flames, but you guys gotta check out their Garage performance of the song so you could see the full choreo.
Remember this people upset that the concept of Le Sserafim is that they are angels. Angels can't dance in the church.

FYI , the place is Emmanuel Presbyterian Church and that room called Main Sanctuary (not a church) a common used for events and concerts. They don’t replace what inside, they just decorated it. The place has this sanctuary, parlor room, 2 chapel(Westminster n Chichester chapel) , gym, a rooftop basketball court and parish hall. It was all separated.

First few listens I wasn’t a fan of the autotune either but it grew on me. It might be my favorite comeback from them.

at first i also wasn’t feeling some elements/parts of the song but it did grow on me a bit. however, it’s still hard for me to decide if it’s a 10/10 for me, but it definitely has a vibe to it

I agree, I would also remove the autotune but the song is definitely growing on me.
I'm like Ace - when that beat dropped I was all kinda stunned, completely unexpected vibe from. But it's 100% a BANGER! Been locked on Spotify since it dropped. Y'all GOTTA GOTTA check out the garage performance, the full choreo is nuttin but HEAT!
But pay attention to the set in that garage performance, the posters that line the garage walls, everything from Malcolm X & MLK to Tupac & Michael Jordan. Some peeps tried to get triggered by it, I guess that is their right. Given when this dropped, for me, as a black man here in the US, just felt like a nice acknowledgment of Black History Month, especially within the context of the English lyrics of the song.
Like others here, I think some peeps are confusing this choreo with "Smart", the other song they did at the showcase, a lot of hip gyrating in that one.

I get the criticism cuz I initially didn’t care for it either but the flute or whatever instrument that is in the instrumental drew me in. My only issue is kinda the flow of the way they sing/rap and that’s not to say it’s bad but idk I feel like smth better could’ve been done on this instrumental.

I was low-key disappointed by the release, but I don't think the song is bad, I just wanted something else I guess lol Hybe loves symbolism, but I want something like Aespa Drama, it still uses symbolism but it still feels like a story is being told.

My only issue with the song, I wish it was a bit longer. And plz check the garage performance of the song. The choreography of the song is really great. Every time major kpop idol groups make comeback, it seems fans of other idol groups try hard to find the reasons to hate. It is just pathetic.
So it wasn’t the Easy choreo that people are saying is over-sexualized (Easy choreo is fiiiire), it was the choreo for their b-side “Smart” which honestly - I agree.

i don't think people were upset at *this* song for over-sexualized choreo. You're most likely seeing what people have said about the song "Smart" on the album, given it's choreo has parts fully focused on twerking and fluid hip movements, and people are upset that they'd do that considering Eunchae is a minor, which I think is a lil off-putting as well.
THANK YOU. lol that's exactly what i said about the autotune as well. they already have such great voices and the autotune is a bit distracting and detracts from it. the song is still great, though.

I agree with the autotune. It was not needed, their voices are always better without it. The song didn't jump out at me like say..Eve Pysche. I don't need every Kpop single to be an ultra uptempo track, but trap tracks are a bit generic to me. I think if this song went to a western artist it would be less..surprising? More normalized and popular even. I do believe the suggestive dancing issue was about another song that they performed, being one of the members is still a minor.
