I started playing guitar in 82' when I heard Mr. Crowley for the first time. It made me "wake up" to real musicianship, then I got into Vivian Cambell, Iron Maiden, Jake E. Lee, Akira Takasaki, Mark Kendall, EVH etc. Those guys made me realize you can actually have your own sound and technique.. Then CC came along and it made me realize that not only can you have your own sound, technique.. but you have to also enjoy it and have fun while playing... CC was like this crazy cartoon character.. Over the top, fun, party, killer riffs, great attitude and all that came out in his playing as well. By the mid to later 80's I was really into Technical playing like: Paul Gilbert, Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, Reb Beach, Nuno, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Vivian Cambell, Satch, Vai, Vito Bratta etc. But I was a massively huge CC fan. My buddies used to tease me over that, but I'm like dude.. we can sit and practice all day long, but if we forget to have fun with it.. what's the point. CC got a bad wrap, cause he kinda came out when "serious" playing was the trend and he came in with the over the top everything and his playing was really good, but everything else was not serious whatsoever.. So, I think it turned some people off.. but you know.. Here it is 2018 and Poison is wrapping up a huge summer tour filling outdoor pavilions and arena's still. It's because we are still in need of a break from reality and need to have nothing but a good time..

Hey I'll always defend CC. Another thing about that dude, is he actually is a really good guitarist. I saw an interview with Tracii Guns who has toured w/ Poison a few times and he talked a little about CC and said, he would enjoy sitting and watching CC during his sound checks and practicing etc.. and he said he was shocked as to just how good he really is.. He even said he asked CC why don't you play that stuff, that's amazing.. And his response was.. The Poison fans expect to hear the Poison stuff. So, that's what I give them. I would love for him to do another cd him playing the "other" stuff, but I don't think he really cares about all that. He just wants to help people have fun.. nothing wrong with that.
CC had that fun, before technique attitude. He played every lead like it was his last time to touch a guitar. That's how I feel when I play. CC is my favorite guitar player because of that. He didn't have a technique, he just followed the melody. He never really played the same solo twice. That's a person who's living in the now. Samantha 7 was one of those things, it's now and it's not Poison, had it not been for his association with Poison, that could've been a top seller in the "pop punk" genre.
Ryan T I couldn’t agree more. I’m a huge fan of CC. Two of my favorite guitar players in CC and Mick Mars never got a whole lot of credit, but were damn fine at their craft!
The great thing about his playing is he always served the song. Each solo had melody, structure and hooks in it while still being infused with frenetic rock n' roll abandon. That's not an easy thing to do and he made it look effortless. A fantastic guitarist who doesn't get the respect he deserves.

always thought cc and poison was so unfairly underrated. love hearing what he'd come up with and he always played solos that complimented the songs melodic and fun hooks well. i remember the first time i saw the talk dirty to me video and the camera racing down the line of cc's guitars - so much fun. as an typical example i cant imagine any other solo being played in say "every rose" - the perfect solo the song needed. poison + cc = good times :)

The biggest accomplishment CC did was get clean. I have known CC for over 30 years as a guitarist and he is one of the greatest of all time. Impossible to answer my friend... there are so many great songs from them that I absolutely enjoy! "Look What the Cat Dragged In", "#1 Bad Boy", "Love on the Rocks", "Tearin' Down the Walls", "Look But You Can't Touch"...and of course all their Hit Songs too! One song that particularly sticks out for me was this one from their 3rd album... "Life Loves A Tragedy", at first I kinda passed over it for other songs on the album (maybe it was the slow building intro... before it kicks in), but later returned to it and fell in love with not only the guitar work but also the powerful lyrics : ) And regarding "Play Dirty"... I seen them in Hershey Pennsylvania in 2000. I always loved his guitar playing. But what really got me is he can run around on stage and still play every note, while everybody else just stands there and plays..

CC is the most underrated guitarist ever. He is like a Duracell bunny on crack cocaine. He is so hyper when he plays and that's what I like about him. He just has so much energy. I saw Poison live once and CC did a really good solo (like always). I wish there was someone my age that was just like him so I could date him haha!
All the people that hate in cc are the people that never had the success that he had So what y’all think he’s not the most technically sound guitar player. He definitely doing something rite.
My buddies were in to Slayer and Metallica and I was into Skid Row, White Lion, Dokken, Ratt, The Cult, Extreme, etc. I was a huge fan of CCs playing. He is a really good player and performer. Saw them in either '99 or the early 2000s on those package tours when CC was back in the band. Took my wife (Depeche, Cure, Smiths, Radiohead...) to Poison in 2018 (or '19) Cheap Trick opened. What a fun show. Poison brings it. CC is not the cleanest player live, but who cares we knew that already. After the stupid Virus subsides, go and see Poison.
C.C. has some basic mode and theory knowledge. Anybody who plays lead guitar would know this by hearing some of the scales he does. Too many people are haters and jealous and it makes no sense.
i love poison and have seen them 10 times live going back to 88 and the one thing i wish is that cc would play some of the solos note for note like the album.i know it wont happen but hey i can wish.
CC was and still great with poison..he is poison identity after all..when he replaced by someone else it was no poison to me..at least in guitar sound...

Impossible to answer my friend... there are so many great songs from them that I absolutely enjoy!
"Look What the Cat Dragged In", "#1 Bad Boy", "Love on the Rocks", "Tearin' Down the Walls", "Look But You Can't Touch"...and of course all their Hit Songs too! One song that particularly sticks out for me was this one from their 3rd album... "Life Loves A Tragedy", at first I kinda passed over it for other songs on the album (maybe it was the slow building intro... before it kicks in), but later returned to it and fell in love with not only the guitar work but also the powerful lyrics : )
And regarding "Play Dirty"... I've always loved the gritty intro sound on that one! Cool rhythm & solo as well : )

I seen them in Hershey Pennsylvania in 2000. I always loved his guitar playing. But what really got me is he can run around on stage and still play every note, while everybody else just stands there and plays..

Never noticed at the time but he has great phrasing and the solos have good structure, amazing player.
CC is the most underrated guitarist ever. He is like a Duracell bunny on crack cocaine. He is so hyper when he plays and that's what I like about him. He just has so much energy. I saw Poison live once and CC did a really good solo (like always). I wish there was someone my age that was just like him so I could date him haha!

They were the flasheist band ever from the 80s and they live shows were amazing
My buddies were in to Slayer and Metallica and I was into Skid Row, White Lion, Dokken, Ratt, The Cult, Extreme, etc. I was a huge fan of CCs playing. He is a really good player and performer. Saw them in either '99 or the early 2000s on those package tours when CC was back in the band. Took my wife (Depeche, Cure, Smiths, Radiohead...) to Poison in 2018 (or '19) Cheap Trick opened. What a fun show. Poison brings it. CC is not the cleanest player live, but who cares we knew that already. After the stupid Virus subsides, go and see Poison.

C.C. has some basic mode and theory knowledge. Anybody who plays lead guitar would know this by hearing some of the scales he does. Too many people are haters and jealous and it makes no sense.

i love poison and have seen them 10 times live going back to 88 and the one thing i wish is that cc would play some of the solos note for note like the album.i know it wont happen but hey i can wish.
