    It always hurts when a friend falls. We all want to have fun out there, please ride responsibly and wear safety gear like a #helmet and pads. This particular #crash happened while riding a Gotway MSuper X #electricunicycle. The safety measures like automatic tilt back have been turned off because they can be jarring at high speed. We will definitely be encouraging folks to slow down a bit on these rides. My GoPro GPS recording was on, but I believe it was inaccurate as it averages speeds. You'll notice that even stopped it's reading 16mph.
    Some things that help me ride and create videos:
    - Boblbee backpack: packs.point65.com?ref=alienrides Discount: P65ARIDES15
    - Fox Sports Proframe helmet: amzn.to/2LOGlm3
    - GoPro Hero 7 Black: amzn.to/2SplkQh
    - 360 Degree camera: amzn.to/2RvCYDJ
    - DJI Mavic Pro 2: amzn.to/2tpXw6t

      I don't think it is safe going 40mph with the unicycle. Maybe 20 or 25mph is ok but more than 25mph means I am ready to die. I am not sorry for him fortunately he didn't hurt anyone. this unicycle is quite heavy (25 kg)and when you crash who knows where this device goes? Some innocent people even children might be hurt. I don't know what speed limit is in that area but I live in Barcelona and the speed limit is 30 km (18mph) in most places in city center for car. This guy's speed was 40mph. He must be crazy or maybe wanted to die. This guy must be punished. I am not worried about his life, he could hurt other people

      @@AlienRides well u know there are pretty inventive ppl in the EUC community couldnt someone invent a beeper within the helmet itself ..blue tooth connected to the wheels beepr maybe? I dont know? but what I do know is a good idea! Cuz if we dont ride safer we'll be banned to ride at all. Last thing we want or need is to be limited of when, where & how we ride, and the last thing we need is some bureaucratic law that makes it impossible for us to enjoy our freedom without suffering from some fine or rule made to curb our appetite for Euc's, booted boards, & scooters. We must ride smarter and safer ...not faster!

      I could think of a few others for mandatory watch as well. Like the dude who faceplanted on his Z10 at full speed with no gear on. 🤪 At least in my case, my 22mph death wobble crash a couple months ago, still weighs heavy on my psyche, and I have yet to hit max speed on my XL. Although I have grown more comfortable with occasionally "gunning it" above 25, I still have that worry in the back of my mind about another death wobble creeping in. I finally switched to flat bottomed, stiff soled shoes, however, and feel like I leveled up a bit. 28 is fastest I've been able to go so far... Looking forward to riding with y'all in April! 😎

      Don't need a cutout to crash, all that is needed is a either a mistake or more common antoher reckless driver, bicyclist, pedestrian.
      Kids live im their phones today and bike around im their own world. Pedestrians think they own the bike lane. Cars...well they're bigger and harder and some people dont give a crap about others and are too lazy to "look left, look right, look left...turn...../ direction depends on country :-) )"

    Pedestrians on the right, oncoming traffic only separated by a painted line, and in a group of riders. This had the potential to be much, much worse. I wonder just what it is going to take for people to wake up and ride more responsibly. If you come off at 40 on a deserted road and only injure yourself, that's ok, you signed up for that risk. However others around you did not. SMH

      "you signed up for that risk. However others around you did not." Interestingly, virtually no one seemed concerned about this aspect of the crash! A couple of years ago I was riding on the sidewalk and saw bushes ahead partly blocking the sidewalk. I made the wrong decision to try to squeeze past the bushes. The bushes knocked me off my wheel, which then careened out into the street. The biggest scare for me was that my wheel could have slammed into a car or caused an accident when a driver swerved to avoid it. I was VERY THANKFUL that the street was empty at that moment!

      What crack are you smoking? His momentum is forward on a straightaway, so he slides in that direction. You would only have a point if this happened in a curve in the road, which isn't how they ride in curves, so you're lecturing a strawman situation.

    • @rustilldown7
      @rustilldown7 4 роки тому +3

      @@AB-py3eu not so much. He falls fine, but then you have one of his fellow riders try to swerve to avoid the crash, he loses control heading into a crowd, heading into oncoming traffic. It takes a bunch of little things to make one big bad one. It's very possible. I always say in alien rides videos to keep in mind that the crazier the speeds, the faster these things will be regulated. To the point that the boundary to entry will be harder, and in some cases not worth it.

I know, you're going to say even at 20 mph things can happen, and it is true. But if I wanted to wear this much gear I'da stuck to riding my piaggio scooter and right now my piaggio scooter hardly ever sees the light of day. I've taken numerous falls on the Gotway and it's always the feet or the calves (that feeling when the wheel's pedal hits your calf full force, OH YEA) not even close to the upper body. PS: this video isn't only a study in what protective gear does for you, it's a study in what happens when you push your wheel too hard. This guy took a lot of risk. Glad he's ok though!

I definitely want everyone to have the ability to analyze the risk and choose protection on their own accord. This guy, and our group, had learned a lesson from this incident. Ride safe brother.

    that’s why the %80 hw buzzer system made by killian ellson would save scenarios like this. transmitter plugs into the mbrd buzzer connector and the receiver that attaches to the helmet and wirelessly warns riders with, led, buzzer and vibration anytime the fw %80 buzzer goes off. imo, a must for any rider. don’t confuse this with app speed alarms that are based on speed or pwm, which are not exact

      Wireless alarms would be pretty awesome. No reason for this to happen then unless you fully ignore them. 👽🖖

    what gear do you use ? your jacket seems good and the helmet

    • @AlienRides

      I’m using the Fox Sports Proframe helmet. I like it because it’s lightweight and has lots of airflow. You can find it here: amzn.to/2LOGlm3
      For the jacket, I'm using the Rev'it wind jacket. It's light and has lots of airflow. www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-wind-jacket

    Where was this recorded? I am so curious cause here I can only go max 15mph

      This was recorded in San Francisco. We've got some pretty fast riders!

    I pushed a Segway to its limits, safety kicked in n the motor momentarily shut down, result my face planted in the floor. This reminded me of that moment.

      Oof yeah, very similar mechanism to the segway. It is awesome technology though, just gotta respect the limits.

    Happy riding mine at 20mph. Gets you from a-b faster than anything else out there.

      20mph is a great speed to ride at, and these vehicles are definitely one of the best ways to get around town. Ride safe!

    thanks sharing the video, I have to admit the tilt back of the inmotion V8 is pretty good, it took me back to a safe position numerous amount of times. That's, for this reason, I'm not comfortable with gotway/begode , people seem to like the riding experience of it but the overall construction, robustness, and intelligence of the algorithm are just not there. Definitively Veteran brand can be justified by this. I wonder if begode will survive without a clear improvement of their products.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  2 роки тому

      Agree that quality and the ride experience is very important. I actually think that begode products are quite well built for what they are, as not many other brands push 100 volts and have sold nearly as many wheels as beogde. 👽🖖

    Do you guys use actual motorcycle gear or just bicycle / MX gear? Because at 40mph it would definitely be smart to have viscoelastic armor, D3O, and a real Ece or snell approved helmit. There is much more impact resistances is street gear than off road gear

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  3 роки тому

      Good point about the appropriate protective gear. I definitely recommend dressing for the speed you're going, and most folks going 30+ do use full on motorcycle gear.

    Hey guys. I had a crash on my, much slower, V8, going probably near its speed limit of 18 mph. I was able to ride the 2 miles to get home after the fall. I fell onto my left side where I had no protection. Helmet, arms, knee, and wrist pads are all in place. I did find deep scratches on the left wrist pad though. I did sustain a large bruise along my whole left calf. A large hematoma formed and had to be drained, then the leg bandaged over the effected area for about a month. Sports injury doctor said he had not seen an injury like this before. He did think the wheel was "crazy cool"! I have since made two 1/2 inch fairly dense vinyl foam pads, placed inside my jeans or winter pants, covering each side from the hip to just above the knee, to help lessen the next injury. I'm riding again. And LOVING IT! Trying to decide what my next wheel will be. After owning the V8 since July of last year, it is quite beat up. Both side covers are crack through and held together with Gorilla Tape. My V8 wears its protective cover all of the time. Can't imagine what the V8 would look like, or even work, without the cover! A very faithful wheel. Anyway, thanks for the thorough video. Peace...Guy

      Ow, sorry about your fall, but glad you were able to ride it off and are still riding. More powerful wheels, and gear, are very important for safety.

    • @yuginoty65
      @yuginoty65 4 роки тому +1

      Yea! Big time! It probably doesn't help that I am 62 either. I chose to get, then ride, a wheel so I could challenge myself. I have two conditions that can make riding less easy/safe. T1D (Type 1 Diabetes), helped kept under control by a GitHub open source app on my iPhone and watch, that automates insulin delivery, using software developer software to install on devises, the app coordinates with a Blood Sugar sensor providing feedback data. Also I have Tourette Syndrome, yes, mine swears, what fun, that can, and sometimes does, cause balance issues. The EUC seller tried to get me to not purchase a wheel which only made me want it more. I don't like the word "can't". I will typically do the opposite. Not to prove anyone wrong, yet to inspire what is possible. People come up to me all the time asking me about the wheel and stating how or why they could not do it. I say, "Look at me! If I can do it, so could almost anyone". Its a great conversation starter. Anyway, thanks again. Peace, from Portland, Maine...Guy

    I have laid down a motorcycle only a few times. And an electric bike just last year. The time I was sent to emergency was when I saw someone whiz by and told myself I can catch him!! After waking up from an over the handle bar experience,I realized that foolish thoughts led me down a dangerous path. Must fight those voices. There is no reset button on a joy stick.
