Bernd also did/does(?) great in depth technical articles about these pedals (and others) in German guitar magazines.

Thanks for your comment, I didn't know that and will have to look into those. I'm a big fan of his stuff

@@thefretboardplayground just heard the sad news that Bernd passed away a few days ago. RIP.

@@MiezoT I'm genuinely sorry to hear this. As sad as this unexpected news is, it means a lot that you took the time to come back to this video to let me know....I had not heard until your comment above. Bernd was ridiculously nice to me every time I needed anything and obviously a great all-around guy.

I hope you're not quitting UA-cam! Your channel has become one of my favorites! Your honesty and experience really stand out. I trust what you say and respect your advice. You have so much to offer! I'll be watching this video again and again. I especially loved that piece you played on the strat and would like to "borrow" some of those phrasings 🙂 Best wishes!

That pedal (and your playing) sounds awesome, however, it is hard to find one for sale (let alone test out) here in the USA. Do you have any suggestions for something similar that is more readily available? You mentioned that you tried another brand. Any hints as to which one? I'd love to see if something like this would be a good fit for adjusting/improving my tone. Thanks for everything you do!

Just looked this up. No kidding it looks hard to find them here in the US (I couldn't even find any used ones on Reverb). Four thoughts come to mind:
      1. Although the website says they have 0 in-stock, I would see if you can reach anyone at Pro Audio LA maybe after the holiday weekend by phone. I mention it because as recently as May 4th of 2023 last year, I have a letter from Bernd himself to the owner who at least last year was his North American distributor (he had the distributor send me a part for the repair). I wonder if maybe they have them, or might at least have shipments forthcoming, that aren't listed on their website...
      2. Evidently Steve's Music Center has the pedals listed on their site, but the RM and RM Recording show "Sold Out." Might be worth an email to see if that's "just now" or "for all time."
      3. If both those come up empty, literally, I've emailed Bernd and received a reply within 12-hours before. It's been a little over a year so I can't say conclusively for sure now, but I think if you send him an email asking where you might be able to get one in America, you'll get some kind of answer either way. And....
      4. If all else comes up short or for whatever reason he's not making them anymore (which would really be a bummer), I cannot vouch for the pedal itself but can vouch for the shop being a cool place.....there's an office above my favorite amp tech's shop and it's the storefront of guitar effects pedals dot com (spelled out so that UA-cam doesn't junk the comment, thinking it's spam with a URL). We've met but I don't know him so my name won't go far if you call but his name is Ryan and I see he has some kind of hand-made boutique germanium treble booster, which is what the Model RM began life as....I can't say if it's as good or not and it IS a little bit more money than the BSM (approaching the expensive) but *IF* none of the other three suggestions work out, that might be an avenue worth exploring. It looks like he's got a 14-day return policy but obviously I'd highly recommend calling them over the phone first to get the details since I don't really know for sure myself.
      Hope that helps!
(ps - as for the other brand, I don't want to make a public statement on a UA-cam comment and commit any blunders but if you can't get a BSM after exhausting the above, I'd say what the other one was and I didn't didn't do it for me via email so that it's not circulating on a UA-cam comment feed. Also, to be clear, I didn't try it in person (just checked out the product demo online). I'd definitely try to email Bernd or call Pro Audio LA as a first step though. My best guess is they're still out there, or at least I hope so!)

@@thefretboardplayground Sean, thank you so much for all your help and insight! What a wonderful reply! I've ordered from Pro Audio before and will get in touch with them.
