Natasha Jasper - I am a former CNA and eventually got my RN degree. Throughout my healthcare career, I have worked with lazy CNAs and lazy nurses and it eventually took its toll - doing everybody else’s job. I left bedside nursing. I remain in the healthcare field but in the area of sales and it is not as physically exhausting. I work with a team but not in the same way as working in a hospital setting. With the job I currently have, I have only myself to blame if I am not able to meet my goals.
Yes mam...been there, done that. 3 lazy RNs on shift and ONE... CNA..., Me, running my feet off while they sat in the nurses station reading the newspaper and magazines. I didnt work in that field but 5 months.
Shout out to all the CNAs, I love you all!! I've worked in a hospital where we didn't have CNAs most of time, never on weekends. I work nights. I don't think RNs/LPNs know how much work it is when you have to do EVERYTHING yourself. Just having someone to get the vital signs, get finger sticks, and help change a pt is a huge help! As a travel nurse now, I've seen good and bad. But when you have a good team and everyone does their part, and work well together, it will be great shift.
I understand, worked midnight's at a hospital with no CNA's or tech's. We had to do total patient care. The nurses on my unit worked as a team to take care of the patients.
I'm dealing with a Mr. Clark and he sits on his couch pissing on himself but still think he a young man running game, talking slick. Old man puh-leeze stop playing with my nerves bcuz u getting on them.
I had a few of them when I worked in the nursing home and I just thought that’s how a lot of these men are going to end up. They still think they got it

As a Nurse , I can't imagine working without my CNAs . They are hard workers, lifesavers. I appreciate them. I answer the call lights , take my patients to the restroom, do whatever they need when iam not busy . It makes the day go fast and less stressful.
Im so grateful for the nurses on my floor. I’m a CNA and whenever they can they will help out. When we’re busy with other patients they will change diapers, stay with a patient for a while, take them to the bathroom. And they always say thank you after my shift. That’s the kind of encouragement that help me do my job better.
When I was a CNA I actually had that happen one night. It was already a long ass night with multiple codes. Nurse walks in to a pts room I'm in (yes already taking care of another pt) and she tells me "so-and-so needs a bath and bed change due to incontinence." Now she had to literally walk from the front of the floor alllll the way to the back (30pt floor) to tell me that. I gave her the most "are you f'n kidding me" look and just straight up told her, "ok, thanks for telling me that you're going to change them." She was also known to be a bully RN and never messed around with me like that again. I had no issue calling her out for her petty stuff. What really got me was that she had the balls to walk into a pts room and tell me that about another pt. Crazy.
I’m a nurse and former aide and I can attest to that. I work on a vent unit with brain injury patients and I can’t tell you how many times my coworkers call the already overwhelmed CNA to put a patient on a bed pan, stand and pívot on to a toilet or order them a cup of coffee once in a while. I get it because we are also super short but I try to help when I can because I know how it is!
Man, Nurses: answer the light, call it out, we (CNAs) answer the light. Residents: can I get my 10am pain pill? Nurse: what did they want. Me (the CNA) YOU 😠
O...M... G! If this isn't truth I don't know what is! I worked as a CNA. I remember one night I was at work. I was right smack in the middle of caring for a resident, when a nurse called out to me to get another resident's BP. Mind you, she was standing right smack in the doorway of the resident's room WITH her nursing cart. I was like ok, but was thinking to do it AFTER I finished up with the resident I was CURRENTLY working wirh. Makes sense, right? But no, she wanted me to STOP what I was doing to get that BP, and when I didn't,she was yelling all loud saying "when I tell you to do something, I mean for you to do it right away!" Y'all, it took me everything not to curse her out. And what was worse, she knew I was with another resident. Now, I loved being a CNA; I loved helping people, but the work was so hard. The ratio of patients per CNA was too exhausting. Top off the heavy workload with lazy, nasty nurses, and I decided nursing was NOT for me. I switched to the lab where I work now, and I LOVE it!
I would have made a complaint up the food chain on the basis that I was depriving care of my current resident, it was against their dignity per patients bill of rights, or whatever I could think of, even if it didn't hold any water or got brushed under the rug.
Ive learned when my dad was sick, that nurses are the patient’s best friend sometimes and if you get a good one, a crying shoulder. I would definitely advocate for more nurses to be paid more. I dont think I could see so much sickness, death and still go home without it affecting me. Sadly some in it for the money vs the care and love of their impact and helping people. My hats off! ❤️
I agree that the Cna's and Cma's need a good raise across the board and I don't mean a 15 or 20 cent raise either. Lol They do the most work and the hardest job.
Omg! This is so accurate love these. I’ve had nurses who will search the unit for a cna to get water for a patient when the water station is right next to their room😂
There are thousands of Miss Lisa in the medical field.. I’ve ran cross a few🙄🙄 thinking their to good to get their hands dirty just want to push meds.. girl bye
TN B Good point! A whole assessment of the patient is in involved in “just passing meds” 5 patients at that. Now some nurses do take advantage of CNAs, I’ve seen it myself. As a RN, I do whatever I can do for my patients to the point where some CNAs will ask me “oh why didn’t u tell me to do it” and Honestly if I have time to attend to the patient’s needs then I will complete the task (changing them, fetching water, and warming up food, or assisting them to the bathroom, etc) esp when there’s one pca on the floor. We gotta help each other!! 💕
I'll never forget when I asked a nurse to help me change HER patient and she had the A U D A C I T Y to tell me that's not what she went to school for. And to grab another CNA, mind you med-surg floor, 60 beds, 3 CNA, over 20 patients each. That nurse also wanted to do a campaign to get rid of CNAs cause the water pitchers were filled at the beginning of shift.
I'm a RN in a nursing home and if one of my resident's doors are closed I'll check in and if the CNA is giving care I'll ask if they need help. I sometimes need help rolling people over to change them but I don't act like I'm above it. I learned it in school too! Thanks for doing what you do, Ashley ♥️
Em Smh there is no way I’ll work in a understaff place like that. For one I’m not going to be working dual. Meaning I’m not going to be the nurse and cna. Hell naw I don’t blame that nurse. However, I would have helped my aide when I could but I'm not killing myself. A nurse can do everybody's job, but no one can do ours!
Kate G take for me once you become a nurse. You will not be able to help Cnas like you m think you will. People standing on the outside don’t realize that a nurse job is very hard and difficult. If you are able to it’s good practice to help when they need you. Cnas will understand when they know their nurses have their back.

Man starting as a CNA shaped me into the nurse that I am!! I was so overworked and taken for granted so in the last 16 years I definitely cherish CNAs and all that they do. Thank you for your service CNAs!!!
Well, we usually just complained to each other instead of that nurse. I worked at a place that was almost always short staffed, C.N.A wise. There were times, we'd have to stop doing what we were doing, to do help a nurse, with something that we didn't understand why she needed our help. Like to hold a a limb or turn someone. We turned people all the time by ourselves. Then she she's taken forever to do it. The whole time you're thinking of all the stuff you need to do and how you could've done what she's doing five times already by yourself. Maybe that's an exaggeration but when you're a C.N.A in a place that's short everyday. You learn to get things done, without the help. The whole, "Can you get her some water" while the nurse is standing right there. That type of thing didn't happen as much but with some nurses, it was more common. Or the light is going off and she went in to give the resident their meds and didn't even ask them why their light was on. Or standing right under the light going off. Can't stop what she's doing to pop her head in. Sometimes they'd complain about us not doing something they asked right away. Like, we had nothing else to do that might be more important. Most nurses were cool even if they didn't get it. The few that complained, along with the some other staff that wasn't nursing were the ones who got me. Like, do you think all these walking up and down these halls are just trying to get some exercise or what? It's a weird dynamic though, on one hand C.N.A.s are the lowest man on the poll on the other hand they kinda run the place.
This is soooo true. I’ve had nurses walk past the nourishment room just to tell me to get a patient some water 🙄 or they walk past call lights without even looking to see if patient is ok. They just have this idea that it’s not their job.
I am an RN and I work in the hospital setting. I don't ask the techs (STNA / PSA ), to do anything I wouldn't do myself. I have seen nurses who feel like cleaning a patient up, toileting, feeding, etc are all jobs for the tech, but to me they are opportunities for a skin assessment or to see a patient ambulate, a chance to do a thorough neuro assessment. This helps the patient, myself, and hopefully frees up the tech to be elsewhere. If you aren't working as a team in the healthcare setting, then patient and staff safety is always at risk

I'm a ICU & ER. RN. We have no CNA.When we get a CNA we are so 😊. That makes no sense the patient waiting and the nurse didnt get water . Now on the other hand I've witness the CNA ducked off no where to be found or on the phone when the Nurse drowning with Paperwork ,diagnostic test ,lab draw,on the phone trying to reach the doctor, the list never stop.I was a CNA before my patient never needed water because I filled pitchers every 2 hours when rounding. If you are doing your job as CNA then why your nurse looking for you .Just saying.

Good nurses show they care. I appreciate the good nurses I worked under when I was a cna. They would bathe residents ,and take on their care through out the shift pulling diapers and feeding at times. You as a cna in awe saying damn this nurse really care, because so many don't. I have so much respect for them and those are the one's that show you as a cna respect because they don't wear their titles on their shoulders, and they make the job about working as a team coming together so residents and staff have a good experience working there, and keeping good work relationships.
As a nurse I can say we each have a job to do, both are essential. I can also say, I am that nurse that will do whatever I have to do for our residents. I will never say " that aint my job". My CNAs know if they need help, all they have to do is ask, and they know i will do whatever i can to help them. Were a team.

Mr. Clark waiting on his Tracy 👋 😌
Y'all make my ass itch..LOL...that damn Tracey Mack gotta love her!!!
🤣🤣🤣STOP STOP STOP-YOU KILLING ME‼️🤣🤣🤣
This is soooo true. I’ve had nurses walk past the nourishment room just to tell me to get a patient some water 🙄 or they walk past call lights without even looking to see if patient is ok. They just have this idea that it’s not their job.
Delegation
It's always a Mr. Clark🤣🤣🤣
Peaches is off the hook 🤣

Mr Clark something else I’m not a cna but I got a new level of respect for you Guys
Thank you!!!!
You already smelling your self. You now a bosshole. You up graded your position because you know how it feels to be taken advantage of. Stop throwing shade.

Been a cna for 20 years. But no longer can do it. But I loved it.
As a nurse I can say we each have a job to do, both are essential. I can also say, I am that nurse that will do whatever I have to do for our residents. I will never say " that aint my job". My CNAs know if they need help, all they have to do is ask, and they know i will do whatever i can to help them. Were a team.
