The A's lineup brings back memories. I Spent alot of the Summer of 1977 near Carson City Nevada...I listened to static filled Oakland A's radio broadcasts....They really had a tough year, but it was baseball.

I completely agree, having been a youngster growing up in Detroit I considered myself lucky to have Carey and Harwell on the radio with Kell and Kaline
      on TV,

A night before " Bird ( Fidrych) Night", as Paul called it.
One of my favorite things in pre- 1985 (?) broadcasts was the organ when they'd come back from commercials. That thing could wail ! Hammond? Not a B-3 I don't think; maybe not even a lower-level Hammond. Maybe a Wurlitzer. Well, it was a much- enjoyed fixture at the Park until they took it out, late 80s?

Good call, and very synonymous with the sounds here that take me right back to that time.

Dick Allen played ten more games for the A’s before quitting, ending his career.

Isn't this great?! Words can't express what a thing it is for me to be able to hear Ernie and Paul broadcasting a full game for the first time since about 1985. We had already moved from Detroit to Indianapolis at that time, and we could occasionally pick up a Tiger game pretty good even from there. But to hear a game like this, one from between '74 and '80, the prime years of my childhood, awesome!

Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey were the best radio announcing team.
The Reds announcing duo of Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall weren't too far behind!

I remember this, the static shots here and there due to lightning in thunderstorms, even in town. This recording is priceless, thanks so much for it! There's only a few full game recordings, and are SO nice to hear. There was one here on UA-cam with Mark fidrych pitching from '76 that was absolutely awesome, it's been removed for some reason. What a drag for that.

That A's lineup brings back memories. I Spent alot of the Summer of 1977 near Carson City Nevada...I listened to static filled Oakland A's radio broadcasts and could root for one of my favorite ex-Pirates players, Manny Sanguillen....They really had a tough year, a LONG way away from the 1971-1976 competitive and Championship teams. Manny made it back to the Pirates, as well as Matt Alexander, in time to win the World Series with the "Family" in that magical year of 1979!!!!

Hiller spent his first full season in the majors as a reliever and spot starter for the 1968 Tigers team that won the American League pennant and the 1968 World Series. Hiller appeared in 39 games, 12 as a starter, and compiled a 9-6 record with a 2.39 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 128 innings pitched.

This was the last season they used him as a spot starter. They took him out of the rotation in the summer, then had him start one of the last games of the season.
