I think Lauren is what needed to happen to Cory and Topanga it’s what helped them become stronger as a couple. I don’t think Cory cheating was a good thing but honestly I think it made their love stronger.
Yes, Cory should not have strayed away, however Topanga’s tests were a little too much, and at the same time she did the same thing that Cory did. However she made it seem that Cory wasn’t as intelligent as she was, because he didn’t see the meaning in a Vincent Van Gogh painting, the way some random dude did. She put herself in the same emotionally testing situation as he was in. It wasn’t until the kiss between her and Art Museum boy she realized it. Just as Cory realized what he’d be missing out on. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but I guess such as this, if there is a test placed between two people who are deeply in love, only a positive outcome and positive result can come from it.
1:12 they both sounded exactly like their daughter Riley. I've only seen bits of Girl Meets World, but it showed me how good of a job the young actress did. I could literally hear her in that scene. She was both of them!

Topanga was most hurt by the fact that Cory - after everything they've been through together - had to see another girl to "test" his feelings for her.
