    I only buy Sunshine Silver 10 ounce bars with the new security (Valid) encoder on the back. I am new to the hobby, so I only have that kind. I'm a new stacker, about 12 pounds so far. Under $20 and ounce right now, I'm buying now for the long term.

      I agree with your logic. 10 oz. bars offer reasonably low premiums and fair liquidity (As opposed to Kilo or 100 oz. bars). I like Sunshine mint and RCM for 10 oz. bars.

    Just wanted to comment on the eBay thing. If you find rounds or bars at like 7 dollars an ounce when let's say the market is 25 an ounce its a clad bar or round. Remember if it sounds to good to be true it most likely is.

      It is agains ebay policy to sell clad silver as 999 silver on ebay.....they have strict rules on describing the coin or bars as what they are.

    Unless you want a "pretty" coin, which costs more, look at buying the most metal for your investment. This comes in the form of silver rounds and silver bars.

    MrVegitta, this video is more current than ever. My case for example I changed completely: my main objective, the purpose for my Fiat is Gold. Instead of the regular minimum ~$100 for free shipping I stretch a bit for a minimum of 1/10 Gold (or one of the sovereigns usually with much lower prrvium, even close to spot).
    Another tweak, credit card points and other points programs like Bing or hotels. I was using for gold which got a bit more restrictive, now I am getting my core (mostly 1Oz Britannias), if it is gift card I have to go for the cheapest generic ... All of this is free.

    Silvertowne's premium is low - about $2 over spot for their house bars and rounds. I strictly buy the 1oz, 5oz and 10oz Silvertowne branded bars since they ship free. It's a common product in the trade, often referred to as "silver donkey bars." Remember, they're no tax as long as you don't live in Indiana where Silvertowne is based or in a state that collects internet sales tax.

  • @gwblackwell
    @gwblackwell 11 років тому

    I don't want to pay taxes or shipping when I'm already paying a premium for silver bullion. If you buy from silvertowne you can get their house bars and rounds usually with free shipping and no taxes. This beats my local coin dealers and the stock is sealed and there is no risk of the counterfeits from second hand bullion.

  • @MrVegiita
    @MrVegiita  11 років тому

    Most definitely! Especially if the seller is a trustworthy reputable source of silver eagles. When there's a good deal like that, some will become suspicious because there are fake silver eagles being sold in the market.

  • @MrVegiita
    @MrVegiita  11 років тому

    i also recommend Provident Metals. They charge a very fair shipping rate, and no tax outside of TX. For TX residents, sales tax is exempt for orders above $500. Greg, can you make a video of your silver bar collection?

  • @goldsilvermastermind
    @goldsilvermastermind 10 років тому +1

    The bottom line here is just ask yourself: What do you want out of investing in silver? If the answer is a hedge VS. inflation, or simply to save your wealth in a physical form. Buy whatever silver has the lowest premium, doesn't matter what animal of face is on the coin. Buy it in the cheapest rough form that you can possibly find, because guess what at the end of the day 1oz of silver is 1oz of silver no matter what premium you payed. On the flip side, if you buy silver to make quicker profits possibly month to month or year to year, you may consider some numismatic of semi numismatic coins, as they tend to increase in value at a faster rate if you buy the right coins and can turn frequent short term profits. They also add some excitement to the skill of silver trading. Try mixing both of these methodolgies for most effective silver stacking results!

    • @MrVegiita
      @MrVegiita  10 років тому

      Yeah, I favor your suggestion to buy lowest premium and also invest in semi numi or numi silver for faster gains. digi051669 said he gets 500 oz SMI bars that are 9999 purity and very close to spot price.

    I just bought a 1oz round of bullion from a LCS (Local coin shop) for $2 over spot, no sales tax, and I live in Washington State. From what I've read, $2 over spot (Spot is currently $14.77 as of this post) is normal for coin shops that sell bullion. Throw in no sales tax, and that's what I call a deal.

      @MrVegiita  9 років тому

      Dylan Coates It's not bad for a LCS pickup. Sometimes you can do better. And I've posted many videos in the past where silver on ebay was near spot, or sometimes below spot using credit card and other cash back kick backs.

  • @benth162
    @benth162 10 років тому +1

    Also something to share; If you want the biggest bang for your buck, so to speak, do not purchase any type of coinage. Purchase bullion. You can get Gold and Silver bullion bars that weigh as little as one ounce.
    You can even purchase what are called Valcambi bars where they are scored sheets of I believe 50 grams or about 1.8 ounces each; Valcambi CombiBar - The New Gold Standard in Gold
    Many coins including Valcambi bars are way over priced and will not give you much bang for your buck, as it were. Sorry, but purchasing coinage is stupid unless you are collector and know of the Numismatist value of the coins you are wanting to purchase. Bars are always the better alternative if you are wanting value for the dollars you are spending.

    • @MrVegiita
      @MrVegiita  10 років тому

      In terms of buying as much as you can, bars are usually better but not always the case. American Silver Eagles for example, have a premium but most dealers love to buy it back for $1.50 or more over the spot price at the current silver price. Silver bars will sell a little below spot, or at spot.

    • @TIB1973
      @TIB1973 10 років тому

      I purchase both. I like that there is never a hassle to sell my mainstream coins (Eagles, Maples, Pandas, etc, etc.) In fact, the older my coins the more of a premium I will get. I never get any near that type of premium for my bullion. Really I don't care cause my plan is to only start selling in 25 years so I am sure the price will be almost double what I paid for them but the premium on the older coins should be enough to make it worth it.

    • @MrVegiita
      @MrVegiita  10 років тому

      If your time frame is 25 years, i think you will more than double your investment. And I agree, there's no hassel wil mainstream coins.

    @Puppyplay1 10 років тому

    Thanks for your vid. As long as you can recoup your premium when you sell, I do not care how much the premium is. For Silver Eagles, you will always get two dollars above spot when you sell, so if I pay a a similar dollar premium when you buy them it doesn't matter. The main thing is to make sure you do not pay high premiums on rounds or bars that will not pay you a similar premium when you sell them.

    • @MrVegiita
      @MrVegiita  10 років тому

    eBay charges 10% of sale price plus additional 3% for payment made via PayPal, so most eBay sellers will add this 13% on top of their listing price making it an extra amount of buyer's premium, for what I know the prices for .999 silver on eBay are often more expensive than say, many dealer's offering on their websites. When buying on eBay make sure to check out seller's info page to see if they are selling cheaper on their own websites.

    The more silver you buy at 1 time the better you're doing for yourself with regards to shipping and price over spot. JM Bullion has a deal right now for rolls (10, 1oz coins) of Britannias and if you buy 50 rolls or more with a check or bank wire it's only $1.49 over spot price for each coin. However, that comes to $9,140 total for the 500 coins, an expense that most people would have to save quite a while for. I say you should save your money for big purchases instead of buying 1 or 2 coins at a time.

    • @MrVegiita
      @MrVegiita  9 років тому

      Bbuying in large amounts can help. There's also market timing. Silver was at 14.50 last night. Now over 16.

  • @JakeLesser
    @JakeLesser 10 років тому

    Good advice. I would like to add that unfortunately, when buying online it is difficult to avoid taxes and shipping rates, it's understandable that sellers want to protect themselves. Deals on sites like Ebay are few and far between. If you see a seller selling multiple coins and bars try to negotiate a price with him/her that includes shipping.
    Another aspect would be to study the photos carefully for Privy marks as that particular coin could have a higher Numismatic value than the standard price for a certain coin. You could resell it and buy multiple coins for it's worth.
    Silver rounds that haven't been produced by a Mint may be cheaper and a decent option if you are planning to hold your silver indefinitely but be aware that the average customer views them with more increduality than an official mint manufactured coin.

    u could go to your bank and ask if they have half dollars. If they do, just trade in paper dollars for halves and look for pre 1970 halves. Halves 1964 and earlier are 90% silver and halves 1965-1969 are 40% silver. The halves that aren't silver, just roll them back up, return it to the bank and start the process again.

      Also paying a very high premium. Smaller amounts may be "easier" to barter, but you are buying it to store wealth. The dollar's value may crumble, but it won't disappear. I buy a mix, but mostly 10oz and kilos, as well as fractional. You will likely cash in the silver for dollars, you'll just get more dollars inflation

    We have a few Mints here, the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, thats the National mint that does the currency and a few Numi's a few gold and silver. The Perth mint is owned by the Western Australian state government, is a colonial remnant that refined and minted gold sovereigns for circ. instead of getting the from britain. Then in 1970 the WA gov got handed ownership from the brits, and diversified its skill into the perth mint coins we see today. Just a bit of trivia, but interesting :-)

    i have just started my silver collection (one week) and many questions have been asked as to why?.... WHY? start a silver collection... from what I have seen, if you think the market will collapse and paper money will be worthless then buying raw silver at its lowest price is best.... if you believe the economy will never collapse then you buy these fancy low production or aesthetically pleasing coins or silver pieces.... or prepare for both and divide your money accordingly.... am i wrong?

    • @MrVegiita
      @MrVegiita  8 років тому

      +john doe Hi John, I think many people do buy silver with the thought process of the markets potentially collapsing and want an asset outside the financial system. On the other hand, if u think the markets are just fine and will continue to go up, people put money in the stock market. As for buying nice design coins, that's a personal preference. Most people who buy silver bullion tend to buy nice design silver coins as well.

    I think saying to stay away from the higher premium coins may not be the best advice. A buffalo round five years from now will only sell for spot price while most of the higher premium coins increase much more. I think everyone should try to educate themselves and make a purchase thats best for them. I don't don'tthink theppp

  • @18wheeler76

    very bad suggestion to buy generic silver as all you will ever get back is spot price.if you buy eagles you will get the premium back when u sell.if you buy perth mint coins they will always have way more value than generic and eagles and will continue to gain value the older they get and will even increase in value when the silver price dops.im sure you know this by now seeing this video is 3 years old.

      While I agree with your post. I wouldn't spend way more then I'm suppose too on silver. Let's say a Johnson Matthey 1 oz bar is selling for 50 bucks. Will you pay that much for a 1 oz or split it and buy two Silver Eagles?

      Sell a silver Eagle and see. You'll get spot price for it. The absolutely best advice is getting you silver bought at as close to spot as possible and the generic round is the way to go.

    • @MrVegiita
      @MrVegiita  7 років тому

      With Silver Eagles, you can get at least $1.00 over spot when you sell to reputable online dealers. +18wheeler76 says don't buy generic bullion but if u do at a lower spot price, and spot price goes up, you can make money. Most dealers will give you spot.

    You know whats great about this video that I usually leave comments to others for not doing.. is you quoted the current price at the time of recording... and where you said to buy at $27 /oz... because the current spot at the time was higher.. now its $17-18/oz Time to buy as much gold and silver as possible.

    • @ChristopherJones16
      @ChristopherJones16 8 років тому

      MrVegiita judging by how much time has gone by, the current chart pattern, the current economic status of america and China... I dont think itll go any lower... ever. I think this is it.. after this... itll go up.. and if it ever comes back down after that.. it wont go below 17. I think those times are in the past. I think right now Silver and gold are terribly undervalued to what they have been hundreds of years ago. If you look at gold and silver past 10 yrs of charts.. youll see a trend where it likes to stay/flat line at a price for about 5 yrs every decade or so. in between those flat lines youll see the price go up and down but its over pattern between those lies is up. when the next flat line hits.. its always above the previous flat line. If it ever goes below.. then some big rich entity in the market made that happen on purpose so they can buy a lot of it. Once the market adjusts to that big purchase/sell it will remain like that for 5 yrs or so. Just gotta look at the trends in the chart and look at what was going on in the world at that time to get a good idea whats going to happen with silver and gold. Right now the world is more messed up than it ever has been and is a big wake up call to all about how important silver and gold are.. i think gold and silver are going to play a bigger role in society soon and change the valuation used today for everything.

    just buy 100oz or 500oz denomination bars. They are bang for buck compared to coins. If your budget is limited then buy the non coin 1oz to 10oz silver bits. My choice would be .9999 purity as they are more or less the same price but better in terms of alternative utilization.

    • @MrVegiita
      @MrVegiita  10 років тому +1

      That is great advice. Those higher denominations are really low premium. And when you sell it back, I would think dealers will give you near spot price. .9999 silver is usually royal Canadian mint silver. Do you have other .9999 purity silver that u recommend?

      Hi, I generally purchase the Kitco 500oz SMI bars. They are quite heavy to lug home, but when I punch my calculator, per ounce its good price. I purchased a good number of these and I'm looking to get some Kitco/SMI Minted Silver Bar 10 oz x 100 when my price target of around $18.50 is met. Although I may be tempted to buy at $19. What I find is the larger denominations you buy the better the price. Coins are indeed very nice, but for me I use it as an alternative investment together with gold so the looks is not a real concern for me. But the coins do look very beautiful. Nice video by the way!!! Kitco was producing the 1000oz bars that are even better priced, but they recently delisted it (last few days) so not sure what the score is with that. All of the above are .9999. I do have a load of .999 bars from the bank of china too as their buy/sell price difference is like $6 per 10 TAEL which is by far the best. Actually the best of the best is from refiners. I went to a local refiner to ask and they were willing to sell me like a huge rock like .999 silver which didn;t look very nice, but the price was the lowest . I couldn't get myself to purchase it because the shape made storage a real big concern for me LOL.

      Hi, I get it direct from Kitco in Hong Kong. They can deliver ($60USD), but avoid the courier cost so I pick it up myself. the main reason I went with the Kitco 500oz is that BOC silver bars were all purchased up by me (as they have limited amount in circulation as people seldom buy so much, at least in physical form). Obviously they think I'm nuts in buying the physical, but the paper trading of metals is Comex/LBMA so I avoid like the plaque. Also the Kitco 500oz bars are .9999 so better purity. I checked out their 1000g gold bar, but it was made by Matalor, but I wanted the ones from Heraus, so I'm awaiting for them to have it in stock.

    Buy in bulk! If you can't afford to buy in bulk use the same company to p-u a few pieces of silver. By being a repeat customer, they will cut you deals on the % of CC purchase fees but never leave a balance on your CC. I use American Express Gold Card most of the time but bullion dealer are getting shy of the % AmerEx charges them. Put silver or gold purchases into you budget, even if it is only $50/month. As a side note, you can purchase Coke stock the same way, every month, yr after yr it adds up...I own a little over 60,000 shares in Coke by doing it that way. I have been doing gold & silver that way since I was 15 yrs old. I retired at 49 yrs old! Watch for deals @ your flea markets where they may not know the true value of that OLD pc of silver & it comes in all different types. Do some homework & educate yourself so you don't buy something worthless....
