Great discussion - i’ve been studying, listening, and attending BR band shows all my life, and yet here are more insights and fascinating information. Thanks guys.
That was an absolutely fantastic interview!!! I’ve watched him from the times that he was playing with the Harry James band at Disneyland to the times he play at the whiskey a gogo in Hollywood. I have to say and then all those times I never and I repeat never heard him curse or demean his band. He obviously did and that’s a given. I’ve heard the bus tapes time and time again. He would use the F bomb so many times in a sentence it would make your head spin. You would think why can’t that guy speak to his band members with a civil tongue in his head? But I guess that was just buddy. I remember I was a junior in high school and I would get to Disneyland hours early so I could get the chair that would be directly in front of them into his left so I could watch his left hand burn. Anyway, again that was a super interview and a piano player that you had sounded like a super guy also. I’m very much looking forward to more of your interviews. Thanks…Jim
Barry Kiener was the pianist who died on the Buddy Rich tour bus. He truly was a terrific player, what a sad and bizarre loss. I feel for the guys who were on the band bus that night.
The commentaries on articulation and phrasing are really valuable in this video. Thanks a lot! 🎶

Outstanding video.
Buddy, Tom Warrington & Barry Kiener were one of the most powerful trio`s of all time!
Fantastic insight, not long enough though.
Anyone who has played sports has had their ass chewed out. Buddy earned his right to chew….not blood loss
What was the name of the pianist who died on the bus?
He should be remembered.

Is it Keiner or Kiener?
@@junglismonk4256 Kiener for sure but I’ve heard it pronounced Kai ner (Kai rhymes with “guy”)
