R.A himself had this to say about the track:
_"I fucking obliterated this track, I had to, Razah asked me to get on a joint wit' him, Timbo and an icon like Tragedy Khadafi so I knew I had to come correct. To me Trag is one of the best that ever lived. Nas, Mobb Deep, Capone & Nore, and so much of the whole QB sound came from him, so when I got to the studio I just kinda blacked out. This here is an all time classic hip hop record, it don’t matter if it gets play or not, we don’t need radio, while the big corporations play their nursery rhyme shit, the underground heads keep the artform alive"_

When I saw this comment about him being 'underrated' it reminded me of a time when I was going to comment on another vid, it was an Apathy + Celph Titled mixtape, and I was gonna say something like "Two of the most underrated rappers in the game today" but then I thought to myself for a minute and I don't know if the term 'underrated' is really accurate; surely anyone who is aware of them gives them the ratings they deserve, how could they not unless they have no real knowledge and appreciation of hip hop? I think a lot of the time when we say "underrated" what we really mean is that they are not as well known to the general public or that they haven't achieved as much mainstream success as some other rappers.
In reality I think the good underground rappers don't go after status or accolades because they want to focus more on actually producing quality work than commercial work, and they're probably perfectly aware that they could easily sell out and reach the masses and get famous and get loads of money if they really wanted to. If you think of an artist like R.A or Hell Razah, Jedi Mind Tricks, etc. their releases, singles, mixtapes or albums, solo and collaborations, are all well received by critics, they get good reviews even if they don't sell massive numbers. So they do get the ratings, both from the industry and the fans but they just don't get the exposure.
Which, overall, is probably better for us as if they went for mass-appeal it would probably only lead to watering down of their content and a new following of half-hearted fans who don't even understand the art but just follow them as it's the latest trend...
Personally I think it's beautiful that artists are happy with their underground buzz, satisfied with their work-rate and fan-base and not constantly chasing fame and fortune, I think they are the guys keeping real hip-hop alive...
Sorry to ramble, I tend to go on and on once I start writing, plus I'm replying to a comment that's like a year old so wonder if anyone will even read this but hey!

This track is bonkers...I was reading some of the comments concerning RA and Pun; who influenced who, who's better, who's flow is iller; that's a personal choice; to each his own.
What is not in dispute is that both Pun and RA are lyrical greats and both have said on the record that Kool G. Rap is their favorite emcee of all-time. Marinate on that one. One.

@SCARBZ1REP it made complete sense. the whole verse was referring himself to other rappers/mcs/rap groups. He goes through about 20. Simply saying hes better, with metaphors and similes. For instance his statement if i aint better than big i'm the closest. It refers to Biggie Smalls statement "i thought i was the illest" when he was asked about RA.
You just can't understand some of the things hes saying because you dont know what it means/is. Others do, so don't be ignorant.

    [Intro: Hell Razah]
1-2, 1-2, girl you could hear me?
    1-2, turn me up
    [Verse 1: Hell Razah]
I've been a threat since Benetton, Gazelles and Ballys
The icon and graffiti in the Brooklyn alley
Touch hearts of the pharaohs in the Egypt valley
My engineer can't see me 'cause the booth is cloudy
Still rowdy even though we in BMs and Audis
Looking like black Saudis in black Denalis
I'ma terrorist attack when I get on the track
If I'm ridin' shotgun, I need one in my lap
I adapt to any habitat, a BK desert rat
It's war, then we sendin' back bodies and gats
Put up your white flag homie, it get worse than Iraq
We know the CIA game was to frame us with crack
So each bar is more dope, heroin in my pen
Got 'em mobbin', back robbin', head noddin' again
Who you shit on to get on top could make it pop in the end
Who's a flop and what's hot got you locked in the gym
Tell Jacob I spit jewels, I could drop him a gem
And if he lookin' for a diamond I could hook 'em with Timb'
    [Hook: Timbo King (Hell Razah)]
I'm Hip Hop before Sugar Hill signed a deal
    Before Studio 54 poppin' pills
It was real when Kool Herc worked the wheels of steel
Now we bring the game back into a New York feel
I'm Hip Hop before Sugarhill signed a deal
    Before Studio 54 poppin' pills
I'm Hip Hop (since EPMD - "You Gots to Chill")
I'm Hip Hop (since Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill)
    [Verse 2: Tragedy Khadafi]
I'm Christopher Wallace with street knowledge, apostle of the projects
Sneaker boxes with the g-packs stuffed in a G's closet
    I'm tenement buildings, cement streets
I'm British Walkers, I'm scuff marks on your brand new Ellesse
5% Nation of Godbodies, greeting with peace
I'm raw like Kane, my lyrics are formed in solid rock
Spit it hotter than '86 on drug infested blocks
Last photo of Pac before his Beamer got shot
I'm the Queens, one man Supreme Team, triple beam dream
Microphone cream fiend, top five dead or alive
I'm so amazing, 2-5 costra nostra
Heart of this culture, the game ain't over
I'm the truce troop war reporter, legal life stick you
Against All Odds, not the ordinary shit you used to
I'm C-Murder before the life sentence
Predicate felons, homicide chasin' niggas; hoppin' over benches
    [Hook: Timbo King]
I'm Hip Hop before Sugar Hill signed a deal
    Before Studio 54 poppin' pills
It was real when Kool Herc worked the wheels of steel
Now we bring the game back into a New York feel
    I'm Hip Hop
[Verse 3: R.A. The Rugged Man]
The best, oh yes, I guess, suggest the rest ya fess

***** Lot of people do not know that Tragedy has been around since late 80s... He went by the name of Intelligent Hoodlum and the album was also called intelligent hoodlum...... Not sure if you are into 80s hip hop but I liked the album... He is pretty consistent really, all his shit is pretty good along with his mixtapes too... Definitely go with "Against All Odds", and "Still Reporting"... If you like it get his other shit too... Hope I helped...
Edit: Ohhh shit how can I forget the ill ass collabo Tragedy has with Killah Priest Hell Razah and them... It is called "Black Market Militia"... LISTEN TO THIS! Not one bad song :)
Here is a Tragedy Verse from Black Market Milita:
I'm like Osama Hussein, hotter than the whole
Population control, I'm seein' soldiers fold
As I release the scroll, I spit perpendicular
Walkin' barefoot across peninsulas, freein' slaves and prisoners
Black Market Militia is revolution, the mission is
Free the minds of our listeners, resurrected with militance
We ain't beggin' politicians for nothing
Government funded, comin' gunnin' and stunnin', seein' the D's running
God bless us, Supreme Team, extreme measures
Max under mattress, C-4 in the dressers
The D's who wanna test us, and feds wanna arrest us
Fuck professers and their lectures, I'm talkin' to ancestors
True story, give the glory to God, receive the blessings
Made in an image, of his likeness, my true essence
