- Elayne Boosler's first of twenty-four appearances on Dave's Late Night and Late Show. Then a short followup on March 29, pertaining to a remark she had made while chatting with Dave.
I have way too many thoughts. First, like Cathy Ladman, Ms. Boosler is hideously overlooked. Somehow to this day, a woman who only does (or did) standup gets completely blindsided. ... The "2 sets of dishes" joke is about Passover. Feel free to check Wikipedia. ... I also live alone and love the lone-female jokes here. We're not gross, we;re just bachelors with ovaries! My place has space under the floor-level cabinets, so everything is always rolling under something.
Amazing how she reminds me more of the Elain Character from Seinfeld. Fascinating
Elayne, you are absolutely THE female comedian! I've seen all of your specials and watched all I could find on UA-cam. You tell it like it is, my friend!! Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!
My sons friend was commenting that stand-up in the 80's is very different and dated. I said thats because the 80's is when stand-up was at its height and its been downhill ever since, gaining momentum and will end up in silence.
There werent a lot of female stand-ups but Boosler, Rita Rudner, Ellen Degeneres, Paula Poundstone and Carol Leifer were the best of the 80's and 90's. Most are lesbians. I don't know if that's got anything to do with it but...maybe it does at that.
Old people like you are useless and irrelevant.
@@hutprancer Yeah
Thankfully she listened to her ex-boyfriend at the time, Andy Kaufman and became a comedian . She wanted to be a singer and he told her to do comedy .
First time I saw Ms. BOOZLER I thought what a lovely voice and beautiful face. Yep, thought she was hot potatoes.
Elayne was far ahead of her time. Talking about things with her own unique take. She was talking about homelessness 40 yrs before it was recognized as a societal issue! Caught Elayne's performance at any chance. She moved to Europe recently, America's loss. #funnylady
She’s just as current now as then...
When the band played Centerfold, I wondered if Hef ever asked Elayne to do Playboy.
The Christopher Titus Podcast brought me here
loved the outfit in the 80s
Elayne and Elvira sound similar to me. Is that weird?!? East and west coast dialect?
Hi Don, I was wondering if you'd had a chance to upload "Catchphrases of the 90's" where the little girl says, "I'm a sweet little cupcake. BAKED BY THE DEVIL!!!!"
Other catchphrases were "Now this is a shoe", "Dem bats is smart; they use RADAR", and "Ham?? Ham?? Ham."
Thank you sir!!
In time. Overloaded with requests.
Don, I owe you a huge deal of gratitude, I've rewatched so many fond memories through your uploads. I have many strange requests, and my collection is far smaller than yours. I will attempt to ask one at a time. Now, I know this sounds counter intuitive, but do you have the guest host episodes from when Letterman was getting surgery? I'd like them all, but I'd particularly like the episode where Tom Green hosted. Please let me know if you have this. Thankyou again, you are doing god's work. I reached a point where I assumed CBS etc would have master backups that would eventually go digital and deleted so much of my stuff. Thankyou again.
Tom Green guest-hosted on June 13, 2003, as part of that year's Friday-night guest-host shows. Three years after Dave's surgery.
I have every show, but not every one has been digitized or available for sharing publicly. So I'll first have to dig out the videotape, which I will, in time.
And thanks!
Meant to add -- CBS has no say, as the Late Shows are wholly owned by Dave's Worldwide Pants. So it's their call as to what they might make available. Huge doubt they''re interested.
Thanks for the info and hard work! :)
That was a freakin great set
My 1st birthday!
Hilarious!
