Amazing! Now interview: Hila Klein - Textile Company CEO Justin Bieber - Music Artist Donald Trump - Indicted Criminal Bobby Althoff - Strange Girl Drake - Strange Girl’s Clout Booster
I actually do not understand why Tom gets these relatively low numbers on youtube, his personality and "vibe" is so interesting and he connects with his guests so well on these videos. All the peace and love to you Tom and I hope whatever you do in life brings you happiness an fulfilment.
I think it'd be really interesting to hear from an ex Korean or Japanese pop idol. I think it'd be interesting to hear the business side of it if and while they were still a minor, like: - How did that work? - How did the contracts work? Can they even talk about that? - What was the process of getting into this industry as a minor? - How involved are the parents? - How much are the parents told? - How did that affect them as an adult? - What was the difference between being an idol as a child and being an idol as an adult? - How much did their audience/fans affect them while growing up and while being an adult in the idol industry? - Has anything in their life have an impact on how their audience perceived them as an idol? Has there been any time where they were afraid or in danger? What steps were taken to protect them or prevent further instances? - Can current and ex idols even talk about their experiences? Is it frowned upon or even a part of their contract as an NDA? - What about their salaries? How does that work and how do they get paid? Do they get financial protections as a minor and/or as an adult? - Do they have legal representation and protection while being an idol? - How is the training like? Does it affect their health and well being, and how does that work? - How does it affect their social development as a child and also how does it impact them as they become adults? - Do they have any regrets? Do they wish they could have done something different? - Are there things they wish they could have done different? Or things they wish would be done differently? There are so many other questions... the idol industry is very different than it is in the US/Canada. But it has a dark side that not a lot of people want to really look into, or maybe not a lot want to talk about it. I think a lot of people take the Asian idol market for granted and dismiss a lot of the stuff that could constitute civil and even human rights violations. I think it'd be damn interesting to hear from ex idol(s) that have experienced this industry, both negative and positive. Good interview with Natalie, btw. That was interesting.
@@thetomwardshow This one might require a bit of researching. A lot of Korean and Japanese idols get screwed in their contracts, get paid next to nothing, are overworked and sometimes, even abused. Sometimes these contracts start when they're minors and might continue on when they're adults, and breaking them (the contracts) might actually have a large enough financial penalty that they can't even afford. So, basically, a lot of these groups, especially young up and coming ones, are financially, physically and emotionally exploited. Some are even pushed to suicide. I could suggest a few, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with pointing out specific ones as there are quite a few who are in this position. But also, because there's a lot that have experienced abuse and the like in this industry, I don't want to just point to one or two and say "Hey, talk to that guy/girl". I'd rather leave that up to your discretion and as to whether or not you'd find this interesting enough. Also, if we started naming specific people, some of those specific people might not want to talk because of some of the subjects involved. But, because there's a lot of misconceptions involved in how the K and J pop industry work, especially the business side of it, I think it'd be interesting to hear from a former idol that doesn't mind talking about it. Or maybe they're in a position where they feel safe talking about it. Also, beware the "stans" (the J and K pop fans that are more than just fans, they're fanatics.)
@@thetomwardshow So I've been trying to post a second reply that has information that are potentially good starting points on this subject, but UA-cam keeps deleting my comment not even a few seconds after posting it. I'm not even sure if you're getting spammed with multiple comment attempts or not. I'll Tweet you instead.
@@badrabbit0077 Nice idea and good share! Wonder if would be possible (from contract details or language barrier things), but I'm honestly 99% ignorant to K- and J-Pop so would be interesting to hear about (if not difficult to get an idea of things from an outside perspective).
Zach and Keith from the Try Guys! They have some incredible business stories. Hasan Piker--talking work/life balance with someone chronically online Emily D Baker would be an AMAZING interview. You can talk about her transition from working for the district attorney in LA to being a content creator/consulting with other creators Cristine from Simply Nailogical/Simply Podlogical. Another youtuber turned succesful entrepreneur (she has a nail polish brand called Holo Taco).
Another thing too! I was thinking a great thing to add to each podcast is an ongoing segment. Like maybe each guest you ask them the same question that could be fun and nonbusiness related? Like a ghost story, a favorite childhood memory, etc? That way each interview the viewer is excited to see that guest answer the question :).
Your questions really show that you take your interviews seriously and have a talent for coming up with interesting, personalized questions for your guests. Please keep making more interviews like this, there's not enough quality interviewing on the internet!
I just wrote down on my whiteboard that I'm going to make 1 solo video Short every day for 30 days to see how they go. People have wanted to know more about me, so I'm going to try my best. I never feel comfortable doing them. But hopefully after doing a bunch, it'll get easier.
@@thetomwardshowIf you're less comfortable talking about you, why not try talking about what you've learnt/applied from older episodes so you can signpost people to those videos near the beginning of the video and in the end card? Hopefully it might drive interest in your existing body of work and build that view time 🙂
Family love aside…Tom really is a top tier interviewer! My man keeps the guest engaged and the convo flows so seamlessly. I’ve never heard of Natalie before but know I’m genuinely interested to check out her stuff. Great job Tom! Keep it up.
Such a compelling interview, Tom! I'm here from H3 and honestly, asking about the Drake and Bieber topic towards the beginning was such a great way to make the interview more personal right off the bat! Also, I recently actively worked on fleshing out my LinkedIn about a month ago. Such a cool thing that you bring up because I felt a sense of "okay...now what??" After completing my profile. I'll try posting about my industry in short texts! :) amazing advice, keep it up.
Hey Tom! Way to improve so far, I would maybe think about doing your intro in a separately filmed clip, or solo cam so the guest doesn't have to feel awkward! Also you should totally have Hila on to talk about her journey with teddy fresh!!
I think the time stamp/ labeling the segments was a good idea to grab viewers who wouldn’t generally watch this type of content. I’m not a big fan of business talk especially when I’m on UA-cam but I ended up skipping around the video for longer than I thought. Good job 👍
The views really are wild, the content and the quality are too high to not get more attention. Subscribed to see more, i think a rebound could be coming
Tom, this is what you're meant to be doing! Fantastic interview! I don't know who Natalie is but I really enjoyed getting to know her and you! Please keep going. I really really enjoyed this ❤ also can you please interview Krissy Cela! She has two businesses that has grown so fast in a couple years. She's an influencer but so much more. She does great interviews. Keep doing what you're doing. I look forward to seeing a lot more from you. You really have a hell of a personality, man. Haven’t heard of Natalie but your cadence and respect clearly made her comfortable immediately, this felt so natural and friendly. About 20 mins in, definitely gonna watch the whole interview
This is a personal opinion, so some people may not agree on this! I personally think some uniformity of thumbnails would be great for your show. I think your older thumbnails had a set identity, with your show name in the corner and the guest in the centre, with the same colours on each. However, I love the pop of colour in your new thumbnails as it does catch your attention. I think maybe a combination of your older and newer thumbnails might be cool as then you’ll have a set identity whilst adding more vibrancy. Maybe have a set colour palette that you use and reuse, with a semi-set layout. Another thing I would personally love to see is calmer thumbnails. I do think it’s great to have things that grab your attention, but myself when I scroll down your page there is a lot going on and I personally find it a little overwhelming which results in me not being able to focus on the guest or what you are selling/saying in the thumbnail or title. I think again a combination of what you have now and what you have before would be fantastic. Your earlier thumbnails personally let me clearly see who the guest is as they’re in the same position in each thumbnail, whilst also knowing it’s your show as of the top corner. I’m no social-media know it all so don’t take my word as professional advice. I just want to see you succeed! If anyone wants to add anything below I would love to see some added or differing opinions!
Great points. And we're experimenting with a couple styles like this thumbnail. And then, going back and changing all the old ones so they're the same style.
